My "office"

There's my "office" where that little greenish sign is, in the window. There's the building back in the the horse and buggy days and now. I don't think it's changed much, except now we have metal awnings. They went through a cloth awning period too, which I also have pics of, and now there's some goofy committee that wants the East Side business owners to chip in to put them back. I think it's dumb because it costs 1000's of personal dollars and the metal awnings are antiques by now and they work really well in the snow. And it's not like most businesses are making big bucks here.

*
The entrances to the stores are very cool, some of them have Deco tiling right out to the enclosed sidewalk area. We had a deer jump through the front door glass last year and busted the store all up. She jumped out the front window, so we got new windows. It's mostly a book store, used books, it's been there for years. Ladies love their romances and it always shocks me that you can pay for a whole store with romance novels. She's got new baby and kids clothes too, it's like, the only game in town for that. And some other stuff. Multi purpose, that's how most small businesses make it in these tiny towns.

I tried to find out what stalkers could learn from these photos..not much. Not that it matters, most of you know where I live, I tell you...I just like the stalkers to have to work a bit. Conners has been defunct for decades, but, the name is tiled in there. Ironic..the only name that showed up on the Internet was that studio photographer guy next door. He's been at it for decades and he's a little famous. I'll have to tell him that, he's a nice neighbor. There's a connecting door to the shop where I work and they watch the place and come visit during the day and vise versa. Small town. They were nervous about me, at first, but, now they're used to me. I've been on one side or the other next door to him for about 1o years now. Before that I was around the corner in the old newspaper building. So, I guess I've been reading professionally for about 15 years.

I don't really have an office, someone was being polite on here. I rent a space, it's a tiny dark room. Maybe it was a bigger dressing room. You never can tell, most of these old stores have tons of weird rooms. One store used an old freight elevator for a dressing room for years. You'd want to try something on and they'd send the elevator to the basement and you'd stand on the top to dress. Creepy. I used to be two doors down there, and I had half the basement (with scary elevator), which was gigantic. But, I ended up filling it with strange junk, like life size Buddhas and voodoo dolls and discarded furniture. I had to hire a truck when I moved and now I only have a small table, a bench that holds cards and the odd books that come in, and a string of orange lights. Oh, and my old wooden painted star chairs. I covered a full length mirror with a black cape. I hate mirrors. I still decorate for Halloween though. All these old building have their own ghosts. Some are interchangeable. It's like, Oh, I know you! Hi!" I never advertise, just that little sign to let people know which building it is. Other than that, it's all word of mouth and works well for me.

*
And the, cough, upper crust, who wouldn't be caught dead walking into the shop where I work (or talking to me), well, I know all their secrets too. The way they satisfy their curiosity is to give private parties at night with Tarot Reading (and lots of booze) as the entertainment. I just file it all in my head..I made up my mind when I started reading for money not to tell anything on anyone, no matter what a shit head they are. Not even to my best friends. And I've stuck to that. If people don't trust you, they won't come back. You have to be the keeper of secrets or I don't think you could be a Tarot reader...not for long, anyway.

I'm loving all the pictures you are putting up of your town.

I told you my secret and its strange that I opened up without ever meeting you. I liked you from the start. :)

You are one of the most interesting and real people I've met on here. Your story is really bizarre. I am NEVER going to Pakistan!

In the old picture, which building is yours? The far building or the closer one?

A Keeper of Secrets...Sounds like another book to me. Not telling the secrets but just writing about that part of your life. You are a fascinating lady Pat. You've packed wayyyy more experiences, adventures and talents into one life time than the average soul does.

Samsplace, click the pic to make it bigger, and you'll see the green sign.

Pat, I see the green sign in the current pic. I'm just wondering which building that is in the older pic because neither one looks like it.

Ohh sorry. Yeah, it would be the far building in the old pic. I should have taken my pic from the other direction, but, I took it from my car window last night.

I just noticed the old cornice is gone..maybe a tornado took it.

I added another picture, with the awnings.

Yes, you are one of the most interesting people I have ever met. Internet, or other wise.
I too live in a little town that looks like that.

I wish I lived near you so you could read my cards. I find it fascinating. I guess that can't be done over the internet.

Dirty Disher said...

I can't net or phone read. I pick up a few things randomly, but, in general it doesn't work for me. I have to have the people touch the cards.

And I like looking at the energy around them. That tell me a lot.

shmedelle, I figured you might!

Ah, how I envy you. I have studied tarot off and on for years and really like the idea of doing it, but I just don't believe in an afterlife and although I have a limited understanding of how the cards relate to each other, I don't think that I could ever give a reading as a staunch atheist.

THANKS Tia!! I love me some TPB. I have a friend who looks exactly like Julian. I'm going to ask him if I can post his pic.

6:58:00 PM, I'm an athiest Pagan. I think I see ghosts though, but, I also think my brain is damaged.

Yeh don't ever go to Pakistan and tell everyone else to never go there either!

I think regardless of religion, energy is energy and it has to go somewhere. I don't think being an atheist should inhibit one's ability to read cards. I think you either have it or you don't.

I cover up mirrors too. I've even covered up TV and computer monitors before if I'm sleeping in the same room. I've never "seen" a ghost but I've had some pretty crazy shit happen that isn't normal. If I get to vote, I'd prefer never to see one.

If, for whatever reason, I am ever in IA, the first thing I am going to do is look you up so you can read for me. I've never had it really done (an old gf did it once, but she was just screwing around) and was never really interested...until now.

I still say it's your office. It's where you do business.

the one reader i use to go to and she taught psychic development classes was adamant that you had to be ethical in your practice and couldn't reveal anything you read or someone told you....

that's the way to be!!!!

If someone really wanted to know where your building is they could blow up the pic, find the lodge number for the Masonic group that meets there and look them up on the Masons website....just sayin
