No picture and no water

Gawd, we had no water last night in this whole neighborhood. A water main broke somewhere and the city shut it off and wouldn't work on it until today. And they said we were real lucky they decided to fix it on a weekend. Come on, I see those guys sitting in their trucks eating Subway all day during the week, they don't have a lot of emergencies in this one horse town, so big deal if they have to work a Saturday once a year. Sorry, no sympathy.

I finally got a shower and my hair is still wet and I have to go to work that way. I could find the dryer somewhere and plug it in, but, then I have to shut off the air conditioner and unplug the microwave or the breaker box will shit itself. I've seen the wiring in here when I tore out a wall. It's that big fat stripped fabric like black and white cord wiring from the 1940's and there's nothing pretty about antique wiring. It works fine as long as I don't try and microwave with the air on. I have to have it replaced someday, but, in the meantime, I just buy lots of smoke alarms..at yard sales. LOL.

The dishes are still in the sink and stinky and the toilet had pee water that got moldy edges overnight because it's August and I don't air condition the bath room. I had to make coffee with bottled water, which pissed me off and if I hadn't found an extra jug of that in the cupboard I might have considered using Lissa's wading pool water. Not really, but, I did use a bucket of it to flush once last night. I have to have coffee. The only alternative would be getting dressed and driving to McDonalds and I think mornings deserve to be spent in your bathrobe. That old water main had caused us not to have water for several days this Summer and I hope they fix it finally and don't just half assed patch it. It's Guntown though, so they probably won't. If the mayors end of town went days without water, they'd sure fix that. All we get is a new fire hydrant in a vacant lot so the fire department boys can play burning old house. This town is exasperating. It's pretty though and I'll take some pictures of the square today in the rain. It's quaintness hides dark secrets and evil.

It sounds like an typical day in Pakistan. No water and no electricity.

Good thing the water was restored. I don't know what I would do if I couldn't take a shower on a hot day.

Sounds like a normal day in PR too.... being without water or power is nothing to me, especially after a tropical storm. Good thing we have a generator and reserve tank of water....
I know its not something that happens on the mainland often, so you don't need to deal with it like I do... lucky you.

well it isn't something I am used to so I would be just like you Pat lol, although I have water and electricity and I still lounge around in the bathrobe lots of the time lol.

At least it only lasts a few days :).

My kid bought me a coffee mug that says " I drink coffee for YOUR protection."
That should be my slogan! ROFL

I have an old house. My wiring is more up to date then yours but I understand. If I want to vacuum, I have to turn off the AC or the computer. Otherwise it will trip

Oh my. That reminds me of the days they rationed water and power back in Ecuador. The pile of dishes, the toilet, the laundry....ugh I am glad I don't have to go thru that anymore...
