I planted Four O Clocks and Snow On The Mountain around the clothes line so that when I'm doing the laundry chore I can see something pretty. And I hate parking in the driveways so I made my own parking space behind the front flower bed. It's twice the length of my car and very pretty now. I have coneflowers to look at when I have to go somewhere. It make chores nicer somehow. And when the cones and black eyed susan's die back, the mums and pampas grass will be coming on. Planting these things are just something I do for myself, you have to do things for yourself sometimes. It's like giving yourself a present because you think maybe you deserve it and it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. A gift for the senses, a present for the soul.

oh i like that snow on the mountain.....did you grow that from seed?
Pat, I love your flower gardens.
Simply put, it makes me happy to
come home from work and see how
everything is blooming there. And you have inspired me to plant more next Spring here and on our
Northern Michigan land. Anyone who can help me know what to plant in Michigan that the Deer do not eat--feel free!
A present for the soul...I really like that notion. I think your gardens are a pretty nice gift for all our souls. My rainsoaked New England soul is tickled with them!
The flowers in the bottom of the top picture are so pretty. I like them. I just stared at it for a couple minutes, my eyes couldn't register it I think, before I realize they were flowers. They looked like a bunch of fairies or something when the page first popped up.
Unrelated... Pat I wish you lived nearby, I could really use a card reading..the anticipation of wondering what direction our life is going in is keeping me WAY to preoccupied - my husband threw his name into the ring for a position that would take us out of NJ (YAY!) and put us almost exactly where we want to be, in every sense...
Vicki -- Where in MI are you from? My hub & I are from MI, me from Detroit and him from Oscoda... I'll ask my MIL what she plants.
The plant at the top looks like it has little butterfly's/dragonfly's on them..... Am I the only one who sees that? I know it is part of the plant, but it looks real if you look at it long enough.
I asked this before but what's with the numbers in some of the comments...anony's comment above...I am just curious.
Biz,
Just caught your comment after I posted mine, I am glad to know I am not imagining things.
oooh my new obsession is coneflowers! I'm convinced I need to plant some next spring :)
Same here Corina! LOL Thought ya'll would think I'm crazy. Good to know I'm not alone :) They are very pretty!
The coneflowers are so easy to grow, you can just dig a spot and throw seeds. I got the seeds out in the ditches.
The Snow On The Mountain is the white plant, it's really easy too. They both come back every year from dropped seeds.
Oh, they Do look like dragon flies, I never noticed that. Thanks.
That last comment was supposed to be for Lisa K not Corina....oops!
Biz: Please do ask your MIL!! I
actually live in Ohio now, but we purchased 10 acres last June near Bear Lake. Just came back last evening from a long weekend up there. We plan on retiring there(in 5 years). My Husband is originally from Detroit. Me, I am a Hoosier. Go IU. (Sorry Pat from rambling on your Blog. Feels like family on this site--just chatting away.)
That's what this blog is for. :)
