Ghosties

There's Lissa with our version of the finished egg carton project. I gave this craft an 8 out of 10..based on how much the kid actually does. She could do almost all of it herself, but, I found out I had to use a glue gun to make the branches stand up. I could blob it on and she could stick them in there and hold them until they got solid. I also had to help her with the letters because we only had paint and she's too little to make letters with a small brush. Also you have to help them find the branches. But, all in all, it was a good project for a child. It was her idea to make one of them a pumpkin. We used google eyes because we found some in the junk box. She just stuck them in the wet paint. It took her about an hour to make it, not counting the paint drying time.

I told her she did a really good job and she was proud, but, I made sure to tell her I like her real paintings and drawings better. But, I told her it was really nice of her to make this, since I "needed" one. She's pretty pleased with it, and herself.

I can't wait to try this project with my own grandkids. Looks like fun and yet it's simple enough for them to really get involved with.

DD, this pic of Lissa is work of art in itself. She looks like such an ANGEL here!
Is she angling for a new somethin' somethin'? lol

Naa, she was pretty angelic this weekend. She's happy when she has something to do. I told her we'd do something else next weekend.

I'm going to start posting all our weekend projects and rating them. Children really seem to need to do these things. We'll see if we can find some good ones.

DD, I love that you do projects with her. These memories will sustain her throughout her life. (And they're not paid-for memories like the G-kids.) My favorite part of your story is telling Lissa that you prefer her real artwork and paintings so she doesn't lose her creativity. You are an awesome G'ma!

TY, Casper. I used to be an art teacher and it is important for kids to do arts and crafts. They really need to do these things, it gives them a sense of accomplishment. I DO prefer her painting though, she has a unique way of expressing herself with paint and color. She knows I like them too, she gives them to me as gifts and I hang them up. I save a lot of it. I have stuff my own kids did when they were little too. It's fun to look at and remember.

She looks happy and proud and is so damn cute. I should try this project with my two. But I completely agree that their own art work is always much more interesting. Will love seeing the other projects you do with her.

I think the ideas and effort you put into being a grandma are truly inspiring. My grandma was always cooking and would let us kids jump in, regardless of the mess. It's one of my favorite memories as a kid.

Her project looks wonderful!

I have to echo others in saying you are an extraordinary Gramsey! My Gramsey helped launch me into a life of art.
