BIG congrats to Miss Tia!!!!

Miss Tia graduated today!!!!!! That's right, she has her degree, Bachelor of Arts in History, and the fiesty little fireball also has a message to all the trolls and haterz who said she'd never make it through college. She plans to go to grad school next, and there is not a doubt in my mind that she will be top of the class, as usual. Hugs, hugs, and a BIG old hair toss, Miss Tia. We love you here. You so dang cute.

Well I believe that the more people belive that you can't do something, only makes you push harder to do it and do it better!
Congratulations!
I've been there and know how proud you are of yourself. It is a great feeling!

Miss Tia is just the most amazing chick. She had a terrible childhood of abuse and turned it around, took charge, learned to value herself. She now owns her own historic home and has a degree. And she helps all the poor kids in the neighborhood, buying them warm winter clothes and making her house a safe place for them. She also adopts strays. She's just freekin' amazing.

Awesome, Miss Tia.
I have to get through some "high math" classes before I can go on to upper division classes. I'm 38 and headed back to school but I feel like I'm in a junior college math nightmare.

Could you share some tips for how you got through. TIA.

Hey Miss Tia,
You ever have a burrito from that burrito shack in Kent?

Congratulations on your degree, I know it is a lot of work to earn all of those credits.

i cannot thank you all enough!!! it means a lot!! I am so thankful for DD having this community where we've all met and have become friends!!! we're all here for each other in good times and bad and everyone's support and good wishes have helped me succeed!!

@lauren....i really have no tips for math....i didn't have to take math when i returned, but i had to take a science and a lab! (ugh!)....i would suggest keeping an open mind with subjects that are hard and you don't like (i don't like science)....i would also go to your professor to get help, that's what they are there for and it shows them you are willing to figure something out...also see if your school has math tutoring....for any other subject i would say keep up with the homework, readings, etc and study study study!!!

@shmedelle--you mean taco tontos? YES! i think that is a requirement of graduating, that you MUST have had a burrito from them! the BEST!!! what did you husband teach at kent?

Congratulations Miss Tia! And good luck with grad school. I just finished my PhD. It took 6 years and there were days when I wanted to walk in front of a bus rather than go to the lab, but it was a great feeling when I finished. Remember that grad school is sometimes just about patience and sticking it out. For a laugh you should check out phd comics. http://www.phdcomics.com

Congratulations Miss Tia! A big accomplishment, you rock. Big hugs to you and good luck with Grad school. When do you start?

shmedelle said...

miss tia,
He taught philosophy. Now he teaches in Missouri, but we are from that area, Medina County. I went to the Uni. of Akron and Bowling Green State Univ., although I did do a special topics coarse at Kent. It was called Blossom, and involved a couple of artists from California.

Who could forget those damn burritos? Oh, and I recall the memorial for the 4 students that were killed, (in the parking lot), right by the architecture building?

Great Accomplishment, Miss Tia. I'm so proud of you!

I tried to comment on your blog but it didn't let me.
I don't know why LJ confuses me so much . . . I hate the moving icon pictures that some of them have.

Anyhow, GREAT JOB and I look forward to hearing about more of your success.

Awwww my comment earlier went to the comments black hole! It was really me cracking the 'imaginary school' thing, Miss Tia knows what that's all about! I wasn't signed in at the time.

I was saying how proud I am of you and how honored I am to call you a friend. I love you girl, you deserve everything good that comes your way. Now a well deserved vacation before you start your 'pretend' grad school!!!

((((HUGS))))

Dirty Disher said...

LOL Meissa, I saw "imaginary school" and deleted it. I am so sorry. I was on mod and all I got was the first sentance, damn. Sorry.

Yeah, Kent State has quite a history. Who could ever forget that? Not if you lived through that time. Can anyone now imagine the National Guard shooting students? OMG

Miss Tia- Congratulations!

miss tia said...

@TVSnark---what did it say when you tried to comment on my blog???I have opened comments up to everyone (Though all are screened)....you should have been able to comment!

yeah, DD, imaginary school is what my insane neighbor says i attended!!! she went to all the neighbors saying i lied about going to school and it was 'imaginary'....big joke!!!

miss tia said...

TVsnark---i did NOT have the comments set for 'everybody'! my fault!!! fixed now!!! :-)

Miss Tia, sorry I am late on here, but big CONGRATS to you! It was rough on me to go back school at a business college..so I admire folks like you who can go all the way. I am proud of you!

Shelly said...

Yeah MissTia! You must feel very relieved to be done. I wonder how long it will take to sink in that you are really done.
I know how hard it is, not really hard, but tedious and emotionally draining.
Congratulations!

miss tia said...

i'm wondering that myself Shelly.....right now it hasn't sunk in....i think when i get my diploma in the mail is when it'll sink it!!!

i can't thank y'all enough for your kind words and good wishes!!!

Anonymous said...

I am also late commenting, but wanted to add my congrats too!

I went to college (for the first, only, and last time) when I was in my early 30's. I had two kids (pre-teens), lazy asshole husband (now ex), full time job, full time course load. So I KNOW where you been, and how hard you must have worked!

Super humongoid giganticus congratulations! And good for you, do the grad school thing while you can. It's even harder to go back to that (still trying!)
