I'm having a drinky winky now, "canelazo", it's an Ecuadorian drink: hot cinnamon tea, with lime juice, orange juice (fresh), brown sugar spiked with rum. Nice and hot. And wishing you a lot good things this 2010! loves!!

Meissa 2112,
Man, that sounds good!!! Nice and warm and soothing! That's a good way to bring in a new year! I might have to start experimenting on that unless you can give some directions to the ingredients.

Happy New Year Everyone

2010 should be an exciting year. My daughter is getting married in October and we are running around doing all the wedding stuff. My future son in law is a dream come true.

He is very good to her and her son from a previous marriage.

She is also graduating from college this summer. Not sure what her degree is but it has something to do with human resources.

So it's going to be an exciting year.

Jane, just fill a (big?) pot 3/4, add cinnamon sticks (as many as you want), and sqeeze a lime. Bring to a boil, cook for a few minutes, then add brown sugar (as much as you want). Raw or any other sugar will do if you don't have brown. Turn off the flame. Then squeeze one or two oranges in (depending on the size of the pot), or if you have bottled OJ use about a 1/4 of a cup and add if you think needs a little more. Then add as much rum as you dim fit! And enjoy warm! If you have a crock pot you can dump it all in there to keep warm without boiling.

Happy New Year to you all!

May this New Year bring you all Peace, Prosperity, Good Health and Happiness.

And, may you always find warmth and comfort in the good thoughts and love from good friends and family - those in person and online too.

Cheers!

Happy New Year to all! Hope 2010 is better to everyone than 2009 was. May everyone have better health, less stress, more money, new jobs .. etc, etc, etc.

I fell asleep shortly before midnight & didn't wake up until around 1. The TV was still talking, the lights were still on ... so I was guessing all was still well in the world. What an exciting life I live! It's snowing outside and the weather dudes are calling for more lake effect, maybe 1-2 feet. Oh, Joy to the World.

Happy New Year everyone. All the best to you all, and look out for yourself this year Pat. Take it easy and heal.

I was asleep by 8 and woke up early to drink coffee outside, felt great.

Fucking idiot holidays, no mail, bank closed, TV schedule screwed up...all because of a fricking number on a calendar.

Happy new year one and all!!! I too fell asleep before 10 pm, but apparently 2010 arrived successfully without me, so all is good with the world (at least with my world).

Watching the lake effect snow pile up outside my window, warm and cozy by the fire with a cup of coffee, watching bad daytime tv.

Happy new year, everyone! I hope 2010 finds you happy, healthy and at peace. What more can any of us ask?

I drank Smirnoff while watching the movie Scanners, and went to bed at eleven happily woozy.

I stayed up watching the latest Harry Potter movie. I love the sadness/sweetness of those movies.
2009 closed with typical drama, bad orthodontist appointment with my son. He hasn't been taking good enough care of his teeth and the ortho-d was seeing red and cranky, followed by a fight with my son, followed by family roundtable on if Andy was going out to a friend's house, then to dinner with MIL and her gabby friend who does/has/knows everything better, all while trying to finish sign-ups for long-term care insurance, legal insurance and short-term disability with my new hospital corporation (it was the last day to do this, as I had put it off due to family drama and I had to have my paperwork in by 5 pm) and we suddenly realized we had another $400 in our flex plan, and had to shop and spend it all yesterday evening, or lose it. Whew.
Other than that,things were uneventful.
