I'd like to take this opportunity to say goodbye to one of my favorite blogs, Musings Of The Moon. Bohemian Moon is leaving to pursue her creative instincts. Fortunately for us, she can still be found on the art blog, Crone On The Hill (linked in the sidebar here). She will still be doing Friday's Follies there. Thanks for the good times, Moon, you are such a good friend. I'll miss Musings a lot, but, I'm excited to see what's next.*

taking a hiatus from my LJ to ponder, muse, etc and so far i have gotten 5 emails from people bitching about this....uh, huh what?!
and no, no one from this site...people i don't even know, they just read my LJ everyday....god forbid i take some time for myself!!!!!

went to a local 'witch shop' to get an incense burner yesterday as poli has eaten my other ones.....was looking at books as i wanted to see if there was any guides for directing energy etc and this fucking sales chick started trying to push some 'starter witch' kit on me...uh no thanks....do you have any books on directing energy? "you can't do that without learning beginner spells" o rly? "yes, you need this starter witch kit before you can practice with energy and then you can move on to seeing if you have psychic powers" o rly?
i was pissed/amused at the same time....she continued on and on and on and i just stood there looking at her and i finally said "look i'm not into spells but respect people who use them as i am sure it helps guide energy and helps them focus, i believe you can focus energy without spells though and oh for having psychic powers a powerful well respected ethic psychic once told me i had stronger powers than her but i needed to develop them and you are in a broken marriage and are very unhappy with your life"....
the look on her face? priceless....total shock.....then she started asking me all these questions, what color was her aura, etc etc...and i was a bitch and just said 'i just wanna purchase this incense holder and you know i can't tell you anything like aura color without that starter witch kit'....

I've been visiting her site for over a year so I'm a little bummed.
I am so bummed that Musing is going away. As you know Pat that is how we met. Sad to see it go but glad Moon will be happier.
Here we go with my gripe. Yesterday we had to take my son to the doctor for yet another double ear infection. 5th or 6th in the past 4-5 months so now they are insisting he go to an ENT which probably means tubes. He only started to get ear infections after getting a bunch of teeth all in a row. My instinct is that it is related to teething and doesn't need to be interfered with. Any moms have this issue? Do the tubes really help? Am I a horrible mother if I insist we wait awhile before going directly to intervention?

MuserMommy, I can only tell you what happened to us. Lissa had the tubes and a week after I was giving her a bath and they came out. All that for nothing. So, I don't know what to tell ya. Anyone else? Oh, they were really teeny tiny, I had to look with a magnifing glass to figure out what they were.
I agree with Tia, there's something about teething and ear infections that go together.
Tia, that stupid sales lady and her witch kit makes me so mad. We had someone like that here and they just up and left with no notice after taking a bunch of peoples money for "witch classes" that never happened. I'm left explaining to these young Pagans that they don't need bells and bobbles and such. It's such a drag and makes me so mad.

My son has had 2 sets of tubes and I have to say they made a HUGE difference for us. He had constant ear infections (massive ones) for many months and we finally resorted to the ear tubes.
I have heard that they have not worked from many but, for us, it truly made his life 100% better.
I will miss Moon too but as with the rest of you I completely understand her decision. My only gripe right now is I am tired of people trying to sensor what we all say or blog about. I don't have to have a group opinion as the trolls wish. Just go away.

My oldest son (as a final, last resort) got double tubes just before turning one. Again, I agree with the connection with teeth here.
I tried chiropractic adjustments, homeopathic drops (made my own...either nettle or chamomile?? I cannot recall off hand).
His pediatrician finally told me that he's either going to go deaf due to the infections (which the antibiotics weren't working on) OR by getting the tubes (which was my fear).
He has hearing sensitivity (not a big fan of the vacuum cleaner even at 10), but other than that he is fine.
Would I have gone ahead with the tubes right away knowing what I know now? No, I still would have tried everything out there to avoid them and do not regret my decision.
Search for other options...they are out there.

Well... what is on my mind isn't really about me, but rather a very good friend of mine who fell madly in love with this guy (we can call him K). Unfortunately, K was a liar, a cheater and a master gaslighter. (Great word - learned it from your blog DD.) Throughout their relationship her gut feeling was telling her that he was cheating, but whenever she mentioned it, he made her feel like this horrible and paranoid person who needed to go "take her meds." Eventually she did find out he was cheating on her and she left the relationship. Some time later she found this really great guy that she has been with ever since.
K went crazy after finding out she was seeing somebody new. He sent her letters, emails, text messages - telling her what a horrible person she was for leaving him... She didn't respond to any of his messages and eventually there was a period of silence.
Then one day she ran into him at the bank. He told her that he was in a really bad situation, he had lost his job... about to lose everything... well, my friend wanted to take the opportunity to prove to K that she really was a good person, so she decided to help him out. (Huge mistake!)
She offered him a job through her boyfriend's company which in turn does work for another larger company. He went through the training program, but then, on the last day, the boss of that bigger company said they did not want him. Nobody knows what happened or why he made that decision. Most likely the boss found some skeleton in K's closet and wanted nothing to do with him. (K also used to work for the police force and was let go for reasons that nobody knows.)
To wrap up this story - K is now suing the smaller company that my friend and her boyfriend own together. They offered him other positions within the company after that incident but he would have nothing of it... and now he is claiming to be this victim that was oh so mistreated and if he wins, he will pretty much take everything that the company owns and it will collapse. He tried to get my friend to sleep with him, telling her that he would skip the charges if she did... that is how low he is willing to go...
Tomorrow the lawyers of both of the parties will meet, and all I can do for my friend is hope for the best. It is just such a nasty situation. :(

what an asshole! He won't win the case, because you know the boss had to have justification for letting him go. He's a typical troll.
The problem is that the boss never explained himself, not to anybody. I hope he is called as as a witness, then the small company might have a chance.
This conman has made manipulation into an art form and will surely use those skills in court... that is why my friend is really nervous about the whole thing- and yeah, he is an asshole and a troll...
Miss Tia, your story made me laugh! Do the rabbit switch! Well I had to laugh inside cause this sore throat is killing me. Hubs took me to the doc and turns out I have bacterial bronchitis. Last night my throat hurt so bad it had me in tears, and I couldn't even yawn because of the gunk that's backed up is plugging ny ears. Doc gave me some antibiotics and a codein cough syrup, so now I'm taking it easy. I'm better now, just bummed that hubby lost a work day for me.

I have the absolute worst lecture course for the next 15 weeks. It is on nursing law, it is 6 hours of nothing but lecture and it makes me want to shove sharpened pencils in my ears. I fucking dread next Tuesday.

Mich: K is just trying to extort some cash from your friend & her new BF. It just doesn't pay to try to help some people out. They are just looking for the quick pay off. They will steal, lie and try to ruin your life if things don't go their way. Been there myself. Only with me it was family, well lets call them relatives. It sux and the judge will not rule for K. Trust me. He's a con man, the judge will see that. & your friend spent lots of money training this guy and perhaps when a final background check was done something didn't pass. It's his own fault. Or maybe they didn't like his attitude. Lots of things can keep you unemployed. It sounds like he is to blame. Hope he doesn't stalk your friend tho when he loses. Keep us posted.

I'm coming in late on this open post. My internet was out for 18 hours on my day off. What the hell did I do with my time before I had internet? I forgot. Also my son's cat seems needy today and has parked itself behind me nestled up in the small of my back (assuming there still is a 'small' back there). It's fricken uncomfortable so why am I putting up with it?

I am obviously late on this, but for what it is worth...........
My kid suffered from constant ear/throat infections as did I when I was little. My insurance at the time kept fucking around with a referral to an ear, nose and throat specialist; they just preferred him to keep on taking more and more powerful antibiotics. Assholes. I fought with that insurance company and his primary "care" physician 6 months to get him to a specialist. But the time I finally got the referral and they did all the tests, including hearing tests, my kid was 65% deaf in his left ear. He was scheduled immediately for surgery to take out his tonsils, adenoids and to have tubes put into his ears. He was 4 at the time - almost 5.
He is 19 now and has never had an ear infection since and his hearing after and since is 100% in both ears.
Hi Rox, sorry you had to go through that with family. How sad and wrong that your own relatives have tried to leech off you...
Yes, the second concern is, if my friends do win the case, what will this guy do then? Because you know he feels like he is entitled. I will keep you posted.

If your spiritual practices leave you getting so angry at a stranger who is perhaps less experienced or knowledgable than you, or misunderstood you, your path doesn't seem to be a very healthy one. Why not engage her and maybe help her see why you were offended by her?
