Interesting. Young Queen Elizabeth was really beautiful, wasn't she? The picture of JFK and MM really leaves no doubt about their relationship as far as I am concerned. I have had just a little doubt in the back of my mind---but that really is a relaxed and intimate picture. I'm sorry both of them are gone.
@tonya....look up pix of philip when he was younger....he was very handsome...the queen loved him from the first time she met him when she was 13....she never dated any other man either....and he is quite devoted to her....
I just read about Alison Jackson's photo art a few days ago (thanks to Stumble) and saw that pic. I don't get the 'art' - seriously staging photos with look alikes? I'd be very interested in real pics of them together. I might have to do some googling now myself.
That picture of Marilyn w/ JFK tells the whole story, doesn't it? I always knew it was true about them, but had never seen a picture that so depicted their relationship, their intimacy like this one.
And Elizabeth is a beautiful woman in this photo. Did anyone read Kitty Kelly's book on the royal family? Interesting.
Like I said before, I don't know much about photoshopping, but I'm sure any of those pictures could have been altered. However, I still believe that MM was "done in" because of her affiliation with the Kennedys. The boys were just like the daddy. Use any cliche you want---the nut doesn't fall far from the tree, a chip off the old shoulder, etc. They---Jack and Bobby---used her, abused her, and got rid of her. And I think the Rat Pack of old Hollywood knew a lot about what was going on. I just wish I would have been more aware of what was going on back then. Things in old Hollywood were so glam. And exciting! And Camelot was really just a dream!!!
That is one great read. They definately did them in both of them. JFK wanted to abolish the federal reserve and there was no way Hoover was having that. MM was too sweet almost childlike. They mistreated her and had her hopped up on drugs most of the time. Joe DiMaggio couldn't even save her neither her egghead playwright Arthur miller. What a shame she hit them both hard when she died so soon. Mr. di maggio never recovered he loved her for the rest of his life. Norma Jean was a really nice sweet young girl she trusted to easily. Kiki
BJ I love the olde glamour of Hollywood era the 40s films. Heck I even love the silent era from 1910 onwards. Many of the stars of the day were from Toronto. Americas sweetheart Mary Pickford is a Canadian born In downtown Toronto Ontario Canada. Raymond burr same marie dressler ditto and beautiful miss Norma shearer the same as all of the above. Lorne Greene of Bonanza is an ojibwe native Canadian. I'm a silverscreen movie buff and theatre afficionado if there is anything you'd like to discuss or ask me feel free to do so. United artists picture company group was started by Mary Pickford her husband Douglas Fairbanks sr. And Charlie chaplin they were quite smart and formed a union and theirvown production company. It was unheard of in those days of the big studio bosses clamouring to control everything. The stars were under contract and were loaned out to other studios to work as chattle. The olde Hollywood era was so very different from today. In those days scandals were covered up and no such animal as a paparazzi even dared to exist. The studio bosses called the shots stills were the norm & all were ready for their close up with mr. Demille. What an era ! Kiki
Is that Victor Mature next to Marilyn meeting the queen? He was a most handsome man, if it's not him, then that guy ain't too bad either! LOL!! Ol' Queenie is fab! I guess she still has the most flawless skin & is still considered to be a beautiful woman. I always thot her Mother, The Queen Mother was a beautiful woman as well, even in her old age. But living in luxury all your lives with servants for everything can't hurt!! That would also account for their long lives. Rox
Miss Tia it's like what Norma Desmond said in SUNSET BOULEVARD. " We didn't need sound, we had ... FACES !!! " -Kiki =^) & ps Marie dressler played the best mil type of battleaxes in her day always cast as a matron. LOL :-))
The queen mother was a living doll such a lil Q T pie in her lavender and turquoise head to toe outfits even some days in lemon parfait yellow including fine millanry. What a sweet lil tiny ( small in stature ) petite lil petal she was. She and Diana were my favourite royals. Now it's Wills and ER II the rest are as weak as water and aren't worth their salt ! LLTQ ! Kiki =D
11:58:00 AM, here's a useless tidbit..I collect junk and my mom bought an old hotel once. The guest book is full of names including Mary Pickford and Gloria Swanson. I still have it. I also have Fanny Brice's bed spread. Her grandson gave it to me.
I guess Alison Jackson should next do a staged photo of J. Edgar Hoover forcing barbituates down Marilyn's throat, eh? I don't care for faked "historical re-enactments" that only serve to falsely confirm speculation. It's not art---it's irresponsible.
someone sent me that photo of marilyn and jfk and it really sucked me in too. especially after i'd watched a doco about marilyn's last days with her psych but here is the link to alison jacksons photos:

Poor Marilyn, used and abused.
Sad they both hadda die. But, you cross J. Edgar Hoover, you face the consequences.
Indeed these are exceptional pix BJ. Kiki :)
Great photos bayou.
Norma jean was attractive and not a size 0. Kennedy was a playboy womanizer to boot. Such a shame that she past away the way she did.
Yes the queen was very attractive specially when she was younger.
I wonder what she ever saw in ol' Foot-in-mouth Phillip?
Actually (ugh, I hate being a know it all) the top picture is a staged image by a current photographer, who uses lookalikes.
i love that she was the size of a real woman! ( ha ha , how convenient that she's my size)
Was that picture staged? I don't know..it looks real.
The royals are gorgeous people, that's my opinion anyhow.
Ahhh, they got me. The picture of MM and JFK is a fake. It was done by Alison Jackson.
But, I found plenty of real pics of JFK and MM while I was googling it.

What? That pix of Marilyn and JFK is fake? You fooled me.
i have several hundred books on the royal family and a kitty kelly book is not amongst them....she is a disservice to biographers....

Shoulder should have been block--I mixed my cliches. Sorry!
i agree with you bayou jane....j. edgar hoover did her in....and kennedy....
Miss Tia...maybe J.Edgar was mad because she looked better in a dress than he did!
Yes, I have the Kitty Kelly book, "The Royals" I think it is called. It was an interesting read.
