Vintage 70's shoes. Remember those? I had a girl friend who wore those for work shoes. She was a cocktail waitress and the service entrance to the upstairs lounge was a rickety fire escape. She also drank. A lot. She fell down a lot. But, damn, she looked good doing it. So, what's up with you today?

Ah, those remind me of my old 'club shoes'. Neon hot pink, pointy toes, 4 1/2 inch heels. I used to dance (and drink and what not) in them for HOURS a night with no problems.
I doubt I could wear anything like those now. I think I still have them in a box in the attic somewhere.
Maybe Sam will want them one day. Or maybe not, I don't think I'll want to encourage her to behave the way I used to. LOL.
Not much. I am following iambriezy`s recipe for French Dip. It is in the crockpot now.
I was going to do some spring cleaning today but I just dont feel up to it. Feeling kinda crappy.
I think I will sack out on the couch and watch the Olympics.
Funny, I don't remember working with you, Pat. You forgot the part where I would fall down with my panties showing. Good times.
WOW! walking tall heels....OH! I wonder why matt heckman deleted his website??? it was www.mattheckman.wordpress.com
spitting snow!!! feel like SHIT! lung congestion/tightness!!
I have no idea about Heckman's site and I'm not that curious.
Tonya, ha ha. You too? My GF was my house mate, she was the out going one. I'd stay home with the kids and she'd bring the band home at last call. Worked out well. Heh.
DD, I had a roommate like you. I was the outgoing one and she was the quiet one. Both of us bartenders... always worked the same well in a large club. Everyone always thought I was bossy but everything ALWAYS went her way. We were a good team and I miss her but I don't think the sort of dynamic that your relationship with your friend and my relationship with my friend can go on indefinitely. We parted ways with no hard feelings after burning out quickly, but I still have some incredible memories.
Not doing much. I feel better than the last two days as I finally got some sleep.
I got up a little earlier than the boys so I could make french toast casserole. We'll have it with little smokies and juice before Andy goes to work.
My husband and I are going to drop him off, then take our heart-shaped box from last year down to See's and have them refill it with the gift certificates we got at Costco. Cheaper that way.
He has promised to help me around here. Our home is a disgusting mess. I clean, but it gets buried in crap almost immediately. Maybe I'll get the brooder set up today, too. I am planning on bringing home more cute little fuzz-butts on the 24th. I want to be totally prepared.
I am having a good week. Stuff going almost so well that I'm afraid to say anything. :-)
Heidi...you and I are having the same day. I'm also making the french dip sandwiches. I've thought of little else since I posted the recipe here. I love them like a fat kid loves cake.
I had big plans to clean but instead I've dumped the kids and the dogs on my husband and am hiding in my bedroom under the heating blanket. I'm so sick of the winter.
Tonya...you crack me up.
Miss Tia...hope you feel better.
Biz...I think you should put those bad boys on and do some clubbing. Ain't nothing hotter than a knocked-up party girl. ;)
We watched an episode of americas messiest house, then proceeded to clean the closets, the attic and the bureaus! Went off to the dump and now we can relax!
Those shows are just unreal! People live like that??
I'm making a pasty for lunch/dinner. All the kids are out at their respective jobs, so I'll probably go grocery shopping.
I bought a boatload of seeds this week for the garden I'm planning. I'm very excited about the idea of it :) I haven't had a garden in years, so this will be interesting. I'm thinking of devoting a corner to some berry. Any suggestions?
Iambriezy,
I am laying in my bed with laptop and big ass sweater on. I have been watching cooking shows all afternoon. I can smell it wafting upstairs.
I found like the exact recipe you mentioned on allrecipes.com and I found that most people said to add worcestshire sauce, garlic powder, and cracked pepper. I used dark Guinness beer..Oldest is drinking the rest from the big bottle I bought. LOL
I will let you know how mine turns out.
I have to buy seeds. I was going to do it today but I feel like crap like I said. I have multiple auto immune diseases and every so often I will feel like shit on a shingle for no reason at all.
What seeds did you buy? Do you start them indoors?
I'm thinking of doing things the Pat way and just planting like hell and see what happens :) I have no idea really, what I'm doing so I'm just experimenting this year. I found this website that helps you lay things out, so I'm playing with that. I'll do corn, tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, carrots, beans, onions and I'm thinking of putting in a few blueberry and raspberry bushes. Can you tell I'm empty nesting it?? LOL
Oh I was a spice girl in high school. Yup I had platforms everyday. I loved them. I never new what I was thinking. How did I do stairs at school??? I have no clue. But my legs looked great. I dont wear heels, platforms that often. Only maybe a few times a year. They hurt so bad after awhile..
What am I doing. Oh enjoying working on holiday weekand ( YA RIGHT). We are FULL FULL FULL.. I need to eat and sit down. Being on my feet today and tomorrow are going to be hard. Specially for a Pg person. I rather stay home and enjoy a relaxing day with my family. But hey its $$$ and soon enough I will be maternity leave.
I hope you all have a great holiday all. DD I hope lissa had a great vday party. Take care all
Hi everybody. I hope everyone is having a great day. The weather is beautiful here today. I'm so glad it doesn't snow here. I don't know how some of you do it.
I have been reading a food blog for about a year now. She makes some pretty good stuff. She has lots of good pictures on how to make each recipe step by step. Here's a link to her site.
http://kaitlininthekitchen.blogspot.com/
I don't remember how I came upon her blog but she sure has some good recipes on it.
Those are some ugly ass shoes. Did anyone notice on the Opening Ceremonies last night there was a singer wearing similar shoes, not quite that high, and as she walked around on stage she looked so unbelievably awkward, I thought she might fall at any time.
What does Moon think of Matt's closed blog? Did you have anything to do with that? It is about time he stopped.
I think Matt has gotten a taste of his own medicine.

I suspect this is why he deleted his blog.
Good dispatch and this enter helped me alot in my college assignement. Thanks you on your information.
I saw some sort of tomato tree planter thing at Home Depot that looked interesting but cost $50. I want to grow some tomatoes this year. Is it possible to just grow them in a pot?
I've accomplished barely anything today. I did finish one homework assignment (and I am WAY too old for homework). I need to get my act together and at least get a little cleaning done!!
yes tonya, a pot will work FINE for tomatoes! you might to get a special container potting soil mix for the pot though....it should be fine with just regular potting soil though....
put eggshells under the plant before you plant it so the calcium will enrich the soil....
Tonya ~
Those tomato tree planters (if they're the kind that you suspend from a hook and the plant grows upside down) have gotten terible consumer reviews.
I was going to use them last year until I read up on them. People complained the the stems were way too weak to support the growth, and the base kept drying out, despite lots of watering.
Miss Tia and Cynthia, thank you for your comments. Yes, it was the kind that is suspended from the hook. Thanks for letting me know about the reviews. If I'm gonna spend $50 I want it to work right.
Miss Tia, after reading that I think I'll use a regular pot to grow them in. I've never grown any food before so I don't know much. What size pot should I use? Do I put the egg shells directly under the plant or on the bottom of the pot? I'm sorry for the dumb questions.
get a 10" pot...about 8" deep.....also buy a tomato cage! get a stocky tomato plant....don't get a spindly looking one....
container mix soil....put the egg shells about 1/2 in the middle of the pot...just one or 2 eggs worth....put the cage over it immediately (i learned that the hard way!!)
OMFG!
That was THE best dipped sandwich I ever had!!
I asked hubs if he wanted to take a bite of mine before he went downstairs to get his put together. He took two frigging big bites! Dammit! LOL
Thank you Iambriezy. This recipe will become a special staple in my recipes.
Oh, we used spicy brown mustard and we both double dipped.
Copying and saving tomato pot instructions, Miss Tia. Thanks! I can't wait to get started.... I'm a tomato fanatic!
Tonya ~
Just one additional thing to add to Tia's post.
When you plant the tomato, plant it at least half-way up the bare stem. That way, it'll put out a real strong root growth. You'll probably have to water it a couple times a day all summer - pots dry out quick in the sun.
And no gardening question is dumb -ask away!
Also, we have an on-going garden thread over at the Crone site - you're welcome there, too. :)
I like those shoes and if I were 30years younger and 60 lbs. lighter I would probably have them. I can remember falling off my shoes many times back when! But for some reason, I was always so relaxed I never got hurt! I guess that was tipical. And I'm sure hospitals saw many sprained ankles then. But they were good times!!! Oh, to be young and stupid again.
Biz...glad to see you on. I was afraid something had happened. How's Sam and the bean doing? Any closer to a name?
I'm going to New Orleans to a Mardi Gras parade with my sister. It's been a while since I've been to one. But my BL is in one of the parades and I told her I'd go with her. The crowds are just soooo large. I hope I don't find someone else's hand in my pocket this year.
Have a Happy Valentine Day everyone!
LOL Heidi...I know, huh? I found that on allrecipes and I have shared it with everyone I know. It's so good that I HAVE to have it every time I even THINK about it. Is there such a thing as a sandwich addiction? Maybe a 12-step program?
Here's another one I found there recently that's amazing as well:

DD, I drove 2 hours to Santa Barbara for some stupid Horse Tack Sale! Nothing! Not a single good thing for resale! Stopped at a thriftstore in oxnard and found some Enamel on Copper Plates!
bima
Tomorrow I am taking both girls to Goodwill.
They are having a two day sale (sunday and monday). 50% off everything in the store. I think this sale is going on at all the Goodwill stores.
We love going. I have been dragging them to Goodwill and Salvation Army since they were babies.
It is the new fashion for many now but I have been going for years.
Pat, I sent you an email that I would like Biz to see. Please send it on to her if you have her addy.
BIZ....SEND YOUR ADDY TO PAT!!! You'll love it!!!
Thanks Pat, I hope you enjoy it!
I had a great day today. I love these open posts!! My only downer of the day was my toilet paper left little pieces of lint all over my business. This was a premium roll of paper and I want my money back! I wonder if I take a digital picture of the incident to the pharmacy if they will give me my money back. My little baby Sydney is finally eating solids!!! I've been feeding him rolled up slices of bacon all day. I have to remind him to chew it up all the way before he swallows. I noticed if I give him sips of orange soda the bacon washes right down his gullet with no muss and fuss. I LOVE THE shoes in the post pic! I swear I would rock those with some leopard print negligee in the bedroom for my hubby Rolando. HE'S all about my feet. Well love your website, im gonna check out walmart.com to see if they sell shoes like this!
BIZ...and anyone else who would like to see grown men act like children---you'll love this.

I just got home from my nieces wedding. I thought I was going to be hot shit and decided to wear 4 inch heels after not wearing them for years, and I danced!
The balls of my feet are swollen. Tomorrow I'm sure I'm going to feel like I need a full body cast. I just put my slippers on and my back is KILLING me. Every muscle from my butt on down hurts. I've crippled myself.
My husband loved the way I looked. Tough shit for him. Fuck high heels!
bwaaa hahahahahahaha

all good comes to those who wait!!
I wish people would keep the Moon stuff off Pat's blog.
OMG Pat! It is a gorgeous day out there today. The sun is out and it is in the mid 40s. WooHoo! Unfortunately it is going to snow on Tuesday. But a girl can dream about flowers.
I googled the opening ceremony outfits for the us olympic team. they were made by ralph lauren. i was interested in the cute knit hat they were wearing. they're on ralphlauren.com for $75 bucks! Needless to say I wont be getting one.
Peg, I'm impressed with the 4" heels. I tried a pair on and about fell into the salesman's arms. But then again, I tripped and wrenched my back wearing flats so there you go. I guess it was a good thing I wasn't chewing gum.
Sorry you're hurting today - Hope you feel better soon.
Happy Valentines. I hope Dinah Washington and Tom Jones are serenading all of you this evening.
Jarhead
what about barry white or marvin gaye jarhead??
It creeped me out a little to have a booming man's voice in the room during sexy times.
Al Green would be ok, Tom Jones is like a college room mate happy for you 'cause you're getting laid, so that's always good. Dinah Washington just has a sexy voice and good songs.
Jarhead
i almost added al green to my list!

BJ - I've been here, just busy, everything's good with all of us. Just posted a bunch on my own page.
Haven't gotten an email from Pat yet, but also haven't heard from her at all and she hasn't been on here yet today which is odd for a Sunday. I hope she is ok.
Have fun at Mardi Gras!! I'm sooo jealous of course! I'm thinking about making a king cake for us on Tuesday...mmmmm.....
LMAO @ the men in dresses Bayou. Nice. No one does it like New Orleans, that's for sure!
I hope you are doing ok Pat.....
Biz,
What is a King cake? LOL I know probably a stupid question.
I made a whole bunch of chocolate covered strawberries this weekend. They turned out great except I wasn't able to eat any until today. I had strep throat ughhh. This fucking winter just will not end. Yet another winter storm on the books for tomorrow and Tues.
It must be Valentine`s day if hubs is watching the All star game and I am not bitching.
We cleaned, did comforters at laudramat, went to lunch, and he made dinner while I took a nap today. Good day.
Tomorrow Oldest will be 21. Damn, I feel old-er.
Nissa...a King cake is apastry type cake made any place that has Mardi Gras. It's called a King Cake because you are supposed to start making and eating them on King's Day (Jan.6---which is 12 days after Xmas) all the way to Mardi Gras Day (Fat Tuesday). That is the last day of Mardi Gras season and the next day is the first day of Lent (a time when you give up something you really like-like chocolate, as a penance) until the end of Lent which is Easter Sunday.
The cake has cinnamon and different fillings in it, such as bavarian creme, strawberry, praline, creme cheese and anything else you can think to put in it. Then it is rolled into a ring, baked and covered with yellow (gold), green and purple icing. Some bakeries use white icing and then add sections of yellow, green and purple sugar. As you can imagine, that is REALLY sweet. I don't like the grainy sugar kind. Also, not all bakeries make them the same. Also, they put a small toy baby (representing Jesus) in it. The person who gets the baby, has to buy the next King Cake--if you don't choke on it and die first!!!
Now during this time, there is a lot of parading, drinking, eating and just general debauchery. Any thing you can think of will be thrown from the floats in the parades--beads, stuffed animals, moon pies, t-shirts, more beads, bikini underwear and this year, a lot of footballs. Go figure!!!
If you want to see some of the elaborate parades, go to youtube and look for Mardi Gras New Orleans. If you are in the right frame of mind (about 3 hurricanes and several beers), it can be a lot of fun. But if you are a religious person, stay away!!
Biz...what did I forget?
Pat, those shoes are weapons of mass destruction. On another note, to answer your question, I went over to Target today to buy a suitcase with the pull up handle on wheels because I am going to Europe in March for 12 days to visit friends. I refuse to schlep around the airports and train stations with the old fashioned suitcases with the little handles! I can't wait to get the fuck out of here. I have not had a real vacation (actually going AWAY) since 2006.
Bayou –
I'm not familiar with King Cake but I'm wondering if it the same as 12th Night cake which I have made? I have heard of January 6th known by some calendars as Twelfth night or Epiphany, the arrival of the Kings. So, I’m wondering if it is the same cake made with nuts and puff pastry.
ICSillyPeople...in this area, it's more like a cinnamon roll with a filling in the shape of a ring. I think the date is exactly what you are talking about--12th night.
i didn't post this!

Lia, probably Matt Heckman his bad self did it so we would all look. I looked.... he's still crazy.
Hey! I just got back online. We had wind and snow here, it knocked out my connection.
hey! that storm is headed my way!!!!
Tonya ~
I looked, too.
Stick a fork in him. He's done.
Miss Tia ~
Did you read that CBS is doing a new Hawaii Five-O?!
Alex O'Loughlin reprises JL's role and they've hired Daniel Dae Kim (from Lost)for the show. ♥♥♥

LMAO! Sorry.
Bayou Jane.. I think you covered it, my dough is rising right now, still not sure what to fill it with.
Happy Mardi Gras!!
