There are some things you can't fake

Little Mason is two months old now, but, I just saw his birth last night. Let me tell you, I've had two kids, one natural birth and I've been with friends when they gave birth..so, I've seen some stuff, but, I had never seen anything like Kourtney Kardashian giving birth to Mason. Not only was Kourtney made up and hair done, but, she never broke a sweat. There was no screaming, no uproar..she just calmly and determinedly pushed that baby half way out and then....oh my gawd...she sat up, reached between her legs, grabbed the infant under his arms and slowly pulled him the rest of the way out! I was astounded as she layed the baby on her abdomen and calmly waited for her boy friend to cut the cord.
*
Her family was as stunned as I was and for once in their lives, Khloe, Kim and Kriss were speechless. Did anyone else see this?? It was crazy.

No, I didn't see it, but there is a wide variation in how women experience birth. I have seen some very, very calm ones, but not as you described. I would imagine that most of those women deliver at home, and we just don't see it.
It's wonderful that she could be so calm and participate in her baby's birth like that. I would not have thought a Kardashian would go for anything other than extreme drama. Good for her!

DD- Where did you see this? I am sorry that I missed it. Sounds like it was quite amazing. I am so glad that you are feeling a lot better.

I gave birth to my son last June, and it was a crazy experience like that too! My hair and make-up didn't look as good (my curly hair frizzed up like crazy!), but it was just a very calm and beautiful experience. I had an epideral, so maybe I was secretly out of it (haha),but I calmly pushed my little one out and just stared at him as he was put on my chest. Love it! I cried watching last night.. Kourtney seemed natural at being a mom, which I wouldn't have guessed.

That birth on the show last night left me speechless, also. I've had three children, natural births, no epidurals, etc. Never, ever did I think to pull the baby out of me. I never thought something like that possible!
I'm kind of in awe of her, sort of, although I thought it a little freaky.

I watch it and it was amazing how the birth was. I had natrual birth on both my kids. My first one only lasted 6 hours and 2 hours but it was not calm like hers was. but it seemed natural for her to do that. she is so calm. It seems like she is like that in her day to day life.

It was on TLC last night and I'm sure it will be on again next Sunday if anyone missed it. I just thought that birth was astounding. How the heck did she decide to just reach down and pull that kid out?? He was sort of stuck and geeeez. Unbelievable.

With the types of epidurals they have today, it is very likely she felt no pain and that is why it looked the way it did. I had an epidural with mine and I felt no pain whatsoever. I watched the show and never thought she would be that calm. I was very impressed.

Wow - I didn't see the show but I'm impressed just reading about it!
Who would have thought that a drama queen like that would be so composed during childbirth?
Makes me think of those women who delivered their babies in a rice paddy and went right back to work after giving birth.

I wouldn't put it past to her to have staged the whole thing. Wear a fake pregnancy bump, stick the baby under there and fake it being born...the Kardashians will do anything for attention. :P

I didn't see it, but will be looking for it Sunday. I don't think I would have been so calm. My dr. knew I was going to have a section and he didn't tell me. He knew I would panic and be thinking something was really wrong! And he was right! I would have worried about everything. I'm glad Kourtney was strong.

Pat...I forgot to tell you how happy I am that you are feeling better! Hope you have good news at the dr.!

Sorry, it's the E channel, not TLC.

She had an epidural. I was the same way with 2 kids and my family couldn't believe how calm I was!!

I have no doubt she had an epidural. Having said that, I did not and my birth was very calm. I had NO pain medication whatsoever. This was not by choice. I hired a doula (labor coach) and worked through the pain as best as I could. I found that being calm and focusing really helped (no extra people or cameras, just her and my husband). My doula said I was so calm that the only way she knew I was having a contraction was by the monitor. By the time I had had enough and asked for an epidural the doctor checked me and told me no that I was going to start pushing! Knowing myself, I would not have believed I could do it without drugs. I was the one in the birthing classes asking how soon after I checked into the hospital would they allow me to have drugs. I think sometimes if you just let things progress on their own, you would be surprised how the body knows what to do and what you are capable of. Some people can do it, but I know how tough it is so I would never say anything about requesting medication. In the end, a healthy mom and baby are the most important result no matter how you get there.

I did the "Leboyer" Method with my 1st baby. My son. The delivery room was dark, quiet msuic playing and the baby was given to his father as soon as he was out and he was submerged into a warm tub. Where he immediatley pee'd clear up into the nurses face. Aww, new baby pee. Nothing much more pure than that. My daughter saw this and told me about it. I never miss the "K's" so I can't belive I missed it. It will be on constant reruns tho, just like Khloe's wedding! I don't know how you could bend fwd so much to do that from a laying position? With a baby sticking out. It seems kinda hard to do physically. But she's young & firm & strong. Good for her. Hasn't she since dumped Scott's lazy ass tho? I hope so. I am with Pat, I think he was a drug dealer, never has worked but had money to travel to Miami, LA & NYC. He won't work and Kris hates that! He's lazy! I hope she did dump him.

I don't care if you did have an epidural, who the heck reaches down and pulls the kid out? That's bizarre.

And I was right, he was a drug dealer.

I didn't see it either, but one of the talk radio programs were speaking about it, as one of the hosts had seen it and he was totally grossed out! Sounds like she was a real 'trooper'!

Now maybe she can reach down between her legs, grab her shiftless boyfriend under his arms and throw him out of her house.
