This is the kind of thing that really chaps my hide! Years ago I was in downtown Vancouver and there was a group of religious zealots passing out pamphlets in the street. I don't remember what my problem was, but I was not having a good day. This skinny guy comes up to me and asks me if I would like to have a pamphlet. I was polite and said "no thankyou" as I kept walking. I had only taken a few steps and the guy hollers "WELL, I'M SORRY YOU DON'T LOVE JESUS!!!!" I was furious. The guy knew nothing of my indifference to religion. I could have been a nun for all he knew. I turned around and he withered under my burning glare.
Religion is greatly damaged. At least the Roman Catholic church has been so dedicated to self preservation that they forgot about the people. Antiquated social teachings, inflexible catechism and corruption have ruined at least 2 generations of Catholics attending church.
It's important for a lot of people, and I have written about how without faith I, and many others with me, could not have gotten through many situations in war. From the first breath of the day to the last, whispers of blessings and silent prayers flow endlessly, as well as looks of understanding between us hoping for a good outcome on the other side of the door. "God bless you buddy" was the most common phrase heard among Marines in combat.
Of all the people I have seen get hurt badly or die, none of them asked for more than to see their family one last time, or for promises to convey a message to their loved ones. Nothing else ever comes up. Makes you wonder what's important.

Ava's Mommy--I admit that I too, am bothered by the fact that you may have "left a little mark" on someone's car, but they are the bad guys. That's just low. I've had people leave marks on my car, and it pisses me off every time. As far as the Catholic comments, I am one, and do not consider myself "ruined". Nor is my husband, my son, my MIL. I am appalled at what has happened with priests in the church, but it did not happen with all priests, and just because some are no-good, does not mean you have to throw everyone out as damaged. I am certain that there are child molesters who are non-christians, as well. As a matter of fact, I personally know of more than a few who have no church/religion affiliation. People in both sides of our family have been victims of molestation. None of those doing the molesting considered themselves christian or catholic, for that matter. I think that sometimes people say they are christian to hide what they really are, though. In their hearts they do not practice their religion, any more than the boy scout leaders practice the scouting motto, etc. and then molest their scouts. I am sorry if no-one here finds a place in their life for religion. That is your personal choice, but I can't imagine ever feeling that way.

That "I prayed for you" on the top of the note really pissed me off. If I put a note on their car that said "I did a spell for you" they'd call the cops.
