Open Post

The nice weather didn't last long, it's raining and cold and it looks like it might turn to snow. Why do I live here? Why does anyone live here? I have a doctors appointment today..yeah, another one. Then I have work, but, I'll be back here in between to see what you guys are up to.

I'm meeting with my tax guy to do my taxes this afternoon. I have a sense of dread ... but doesn't everyone? I've never met anyone who liked doing their taxes.

DD, I hope your appt. goes well and they get your meds worked out. Let us know how it goes. Sorry about the weather there. We had wind and rain yesterday and it blew half of the orange blossoms off. Still smells divine though.

My faith in humanity keeps shrinking. Two days ago a good friend's dog was purposedly poisoned by a neighbor...puppy was only three years old. It reminded me again of the day my dad's cat was ran over by a hateful neighbor too.....

FUCK PEOPLE WHO KILL OTHER PEOPLE'S PETS ON PURPOSE! I HOPE YOU TURN INTO VULTURE FOOD!

Dirty Disher said...

Meissa, why would the neighbor do that? Did they give a reason? Were they arrested?

Dirty Disher said...

Oh, my stupid meds. So many of them, it's hard to keep track. My whole day is spent trying to take all these meds.

Unknown said...

Because my country is filled with people who don't give a damn. People like Miss Tia's crazy neighbor. No, they won't arrest people because they kill someone else's pet. I wish.

Unknown said...

Some people can't stand the fact that their neighbor is a well loved person...and take what's loved from them just to piss people off....yes, some people's minds work like that, I'm so angry...

Unknown said...

Oh my Meissa im so sorry for your friends loss. What a horrible shame that this happened. Poor little fur baby. People that do this to poor harmless little animals. Are disgusting vile human beings.

DD I hope the Dr apt went good and the meds will get back on track.

Today im just back to work for 10 hrs. Not bad really.. 6 hrs thur - sun. Than Ava gets her spring time photos done. Back to work next week for 3 days than Va-cay for 4 Days I cant wait. Time for a little break.

Anonymous said...

How sad Meissa! You're right, anyone that would intentionally harm an innocent animal is beyond help!

I'm glad you did this post, so I can complain Pat. First let me say something nice though. The weather is almost 80 today so that makes me happy!

On to the complaint though...I got an ulcer in my mouth last week. It's the first one I've ever had that didn't go away immediately and that hurt like crap!

I have a good friend who is a dentist who gave me some silver nitrate sticks to rub around the ulcer, numb it then it would go away in a couple of days.

My boyfriend put the first stick on it and I almost wet my pants from the pain! It was like a match in my mouth. I cried it hurt so bad.

Well, it made it worse. The stinking thing has my mouth swollen, the gray sulfer is in my mouth (normal he said), and I drooled it on my face so I look like a dumbass today with two splotches of gray on my face that won't go away!!! No makeup will cover it up either. On top of that, we have a dinner to attend tonight.

Thanks for letting me vent!!

It is a nice sunny day today but on the cold side. No yard work for me today. I have things to do. Front door knob (and components) have decided they do not want to work right anymore. Going to go to Home Depot to shop for a new one and have it keyed at the locksmith. We have our keyed back door so it is fine. Just a pain in the ass.
Trying to think of what I am going to do for Easter. We are not doing traditional ham anymore. Gotta watch the blood pressure on hubs. I think we will do some grilling outside instead! I cannot believe April is almost here.
I hope all is well with you Pat. Medicine sucks! I say that to myself every morning.

Oh DD, I know just how you feel. Today we are gloomy with rain on the way (your weather reaches me a day or two later always). I have been taking a walk in the yard every day just willing things to grow a little faster but alas; my coaxing is useless. I am excited about your cleomes, though. My Mom just loves them and they are beautiful. I'd be happy to send you seeds:) Love the blog ~ do take care of yourself.

When I was a kid our mean neighbor shot our cat with a BB gun then poisoned it. He used to throw stuff at my friend's dog. I have no idea what happened to the cocksucker but I hope his dick slowly and painfully rotted off.

DD-Hope you're feeling well and your meds get worked out.

Meissa-what a horrible thing! I'm so sorry for your friend's loss. Crabbie's right, I hope their parts fall off in the most painful way.

Palmetto Girl-sorry you aren't feeling well. I had blisters too, just last week. My doc thought it was coxsackie virus (probably caught it around my friend's kids). I have never had so much pain in my throat. Just tell people you were huffing paint, that's why your face has silver streaks : )

I hope the animal murderers are covered in coxsackie virus.

Pretty here, 74 deg., perfect day in my world. I played w/the new pup today and wore him out, so I'm feeling 'victorious'. Heh, he's passed out sleeping on the floor. (I think I may go do the same, only on the sofa, but he passed out first!)

I had a neighbor once whose dog died from ingesting motor oil. People are stupid, I thought everyone knew it was 'tasty' to dogs. cats, et. al and would kill them. I wonder if these jerks do it over something a small as the dog got in his garbage can.
DD, I hope your meds are getting straight, how many do you have to take? Sucks growing old, doesn't it? Guess it's better than the alternative.

Good weather will soon be upon us Pat. I keep telling myself that. Kiki's wise words have helped to keep me patient. It's cold here too. It was snowing when I got up this morning. Our garage burned down yesterday along with our garden shed. I was offered a pygmy goat for $50. They have to get rid of it because it is too friendly!!??!! I want it so much, but we have bylaws that prohibit livestock in town. Whoever poisoned that poor dog should be taken into a feld and shot!

Unknown said...

I'm so sorry DD I feel like an ass, I didn't even wish you well at the DR today. I hope you're doing ok. My poor friend has been on my mind all day...

Dirty Disher said...

That's okay, Meissa. I go all the time it seems like..not a big deal. Just a waste of my time.

escrow said...

Yep. You're getting what we had yesterday. Rained like hell for an hour and turned to wet, heavy snow. Woke up to about a foot and today it's 50 so it's melting fast. Spring time in the rockies :)

DD- I have not read other messages yet but I was hoping you could, if you were able to give some update on how you are doing health wise. For some reason I have the feeling that you are really not feeling all that well and just don't talk about. I guess I am a nosy person when I care about someone, but my feelings will not be hurt if you don't answer me. Sending you BIG HUG! BBL have to take Dottie Doodle for a walk in the woods and chance to roll in mud and big water. This water will be all gone by May (it's like a river now from all the winter's rain) It will be bone dry until next Jan/Feb/March

Meissa that's awful who would poison a
pet dog ?!?! WTF is wrong with people ?!

OK!!! Hell has frozen over! My dream has come true. After months of battling with mein kauf (sp)--you know, the little Hitler bitch--she is moving on to reek havoc over some other school. The way she told it, she was needed to help another school and thought it was her duty to go! Gawd! Is she a saint or what? I don't care what the reason, I'm just happy she's going. She let us know at a faculty meeting this morning. I want you all to know I had a perfect poker face. I was really proud of myself. I walked out the door, down the hall and did a little happy dance!!!! Life may be getting better!
DD---absorb some of my joy and feel better! I sending it to ya!!!! Take care of yourself!

Mabel Leaf...do you have a lot of things that burn down? You dropped that in between the snow and the goat! Just like it was no big deal! I had to laugh---not because of your misfortune, but because you were so nonchalant about it!

I wish everyone could feel as good as I do right now! Hot damn!!!!

Casper said...

Meissa, I wonder if we live in the same city. I just heard a similar story on the news here. WTF is going on?

Bayou Jane said...

Mabel Leaf
Just wondering...how friendly is that goat?

Mabel Leaf said...

Kiki, I don't remember your exact words, but you reminded me that Spring was still a couple of months away and I shouldn't spend that time wishing the weather was better. I can look forward to the good weather, but what's the point of hating a whole season? You put it to better words, but that was your message. I took it to heart.

Bayou Jane...LOL...The fire was a VERY big deal! It was only one shed that burned completely and the back right corner of the garage and one wall of another shed. Our house is fine thank goodness. I don't know how people cope with the loss of an entire home! The shed had stuff like the lawn mower, roto-tiller, weed wacker...etc. There were a lot of things in the garage that were burned and a lot more with smoke damage. The insurance guy was here today and we are covered for everything, so we are really lucky in that respect. Our back yard has become the main must-see attraction in town. A van of senior citizens went by today...I think they were on a field trip.

I don't know how friendly the goat is. My son's girlfriend is a real estate agent and a client of her's is trying to unload the little guy. They say the goat tries to play with the family cat and dog and this causes problems for some reason. The goat also tries to get into cars when visitors are leaving and will chase cars down the driveway. I would take him in a minute but the neighbors would bitch.

Meissa, I am so sorry to hear about the evil man and the poor kitty's demise. :(

Kiki- Glad you that mentioned that book. Never read it, and will get it from library tomr.

Palmetto Girl- Dab a little Milk of Magnesia on the sore 3-4x daily. This is soothing and may help to heal it faster as well.

Bayou Jane,
Oh boy that is like a dream come true!! I felt so happy for you when I read this that I did my own happy dance jig for ya! Awesome news. I am imagining you being able to go to work each day and teach without all of that heavy duty toxic stress and bull shit--I'm sooo happy for you.

Mabel Leaf- I love goats-it's too bad cause it sounds like he'd do so well with you. He sounds like he has a big personality. Your description of him made me smile.

Meissa, I am so sorry to hear about the puppy. That's heartbreaking. Puppies are love wrapped in fur, and anyone who would intentionally hurt one has some serious mental health issues. I hope he/she accidentally takes some of their own poison. It would serve them right.
Pat, I hope you're feeling better, and that they get the mix right for you. You deserve some peace. I hope they can help you find it.
I heard that the weather here was nice, today, but only went out once when I discharged a patient. It was just a normal day, but at the very end, I might have uncovered a case of domestic violence. I'm not sure. I gave all the info to those who can work on it from here on out. It really pisses me off when women come in to have babies, and their significant others choose to make an ass out of themselves, and act out in inappropriate ways. Can't they just allow a little recovery time? I just want to knock heads sometimes, or sit someone in a corner for a time out like I used to do with my son. One minute per year of age. I don't care if you're thirty or forty.
Tomorrow is the first of four days off. It sounds like bliss to me.
The big girls were slackers today--only four eggs out of nine birds. The little girls are very cute, and Free Bird is growing well. The cross beak seems much less prominent.
I'm very tired, spent, I guess. Off to bed. Have a good night's rest, everyone, and I hope your mouth heals up quickly Palmetto Girl. I get those little sores, usually at the end of a viral infection, and they are painful for days. I'm sorry. I don't have any cure. I'm sure my mom would say to gargle with listerine, but she uses that for everything, so don't count on that being particularly helpful. Good night.:)

Forgot to add---Bayou Jane, I can't even begin to tell you how thrilled I am for you!!! Your news made my day! Hope the replacement is a good one.

@ Bayou Jane congrats!!! Have yourself a party. Or at least a celebratory drink.

@Mabel Leaf sorry to hear about the fire, it sounds frightening, but really glad it didn't' get to your house. It's too bad about the pygmy goat they are a lot of fun & so enjoyable. Such little darlings with a whole lot of character.

@Meissa I'm so sorry to hear about the puppy, I didn't realize that people couldn't be charged for such things. I know with livestock they can be charged with things like destruction of property. I can't recall what the exact term is, it's terrible people should not be allowed to get away with that. Mind you if I had a neighbour willing to kill an animal like that, I'd be worried about living next to them. You always hear about violent offenders & serial killers getting their start killing &/ or abusing animals. Yes I know not everyone who kills an animal goes on to be a murderer, but I have to wonder at what kind of person would do such a terrible thing.

@DD hope all went well for you today at the doc's & that they've got your meds sorted out. sometimes I think fewer more concise doctor visits would make people feel better, especially when you go & they have next to nothing to tell you & you're like what, I drove two hours & rearranged an entire day for this?

Nancy B it's a good read. Henry James
works are a favourite of mine. Kiki :)

Mabel leaf. Oh yes now I recall it's something
I say when I hear people say that they wish
that winter was over or the wish to speed life
along. I always say. " Please don't wish your
life away. " Enjoy your life all of it even the
mundane parts. The rainy days the storms.
There is immense beauty in the breakdown
of moments. A favourite quote I love and live
is by Mark Twain.
" Twenty years from now you will be more
disappointed by the things that you didn't do
than by the ones that you did do. So throw off
the bowlines . Sail away from the safe harbour.
Catch the trade winds in your sails.
Explore. Dream. Discover. " - Mark Twain.

He's basically saying to live your life without
any regrets. I'm just adding to that by asking
that you please do not wish it away.

Some days if I feel too tired to go for a run.
I remember a quadrapalegic young man I
met at a race who lost the use of his legs
in a car accident. But he is still here. I say
Kiki be thankful that your legs work and you
able to go out and run , remember Freddie :)
That ususally does it for me. Then when that
runners high kicks in Im so glad that I did it !
When I have a chance to do / try / participate
I will take the opportunity and I can at least
know that even if I fail at the task at hand at least
I tried so I can live with and forgive myself.
In the end I know who will be there to hold my
hand when it's my turn to go and my time is up.
I see her face smiling back at me in the mirror
everytime I gaze back at my reflection. Kiki :)

Good news my son just called and will be
interviewed to get into one of the top optometry
med schools in Canada. He has been working
hard to get interviewed is a feat in itself.
The amount of med students who apply
each year is limited and to reapplying is
very common. I'm so happy for him for
getting it in his first year. Just wanted to
share the good news ! Kiki :)

I would take the goat and love it as my own, but the local livestock nazis would report me and then my little goat would be taken away. If I won the lottery I would buy a few acres and have miniature everything...goats, donkeys, pigs and cows. *note to self...buy lotto ticket*

hmmm Nelson Eddy just popped into my mind.
He made a ton of films with Jeanette macdonald
in the 40s always the trusted Mountie on his

LOL...Kiki...I used to watch old McDonald and Eddy movies when I was babysitting as a teenager. I still love that stuff. Every once in a while I will go to YouTube and watch Nelson Eddy gather his "Stout Hearted Men" to "fight for the right they adore". It usually cheers me up.
