Signs of Spring

The Naked Ladies are up..so is the Sedem. Also, Strawberries, Rhubarb, Yarrow, Hollyhocks, Lilies and Tulips. Pretty much everything that's supposed to be...but, I won't let it fool me. Winter isn't over. I just thought, this is Niki's first Spring. Do you suppose he thought the world was just a big ice ball? He's so happy to go out and the yard is full of tantalizing smells and fascinating creatures. So much to discover.

hahaha...Miss Tia, I was just going to post the same thing!

I've often wondered if dogs understand seasons. My dog has the same routine very morning. She eats and goes outside until I shower for work. When I open the door and tell her it's time to go upstairs and get ready for work, she comes inside, but in the cool mornings before our Southern summers, she won't come in.

I think she know the heat is coming soon and is enjoying the last of the cool mornings.

I could be crazy for thinking that, but I think they know.

Haha...hens and chicks. I noticed them in my yard last week too. There is a huge landscaping boulder in the front that they grow on and it just amazes e because there's so little soil and I hardly ever remember to water them. Also noticed buds on the crap apple trees and the peach tree. Maybe someone here can answer a question for me. About every 3 years the peach tree produces no fruit and it's not because of a late freeze. No fruit last summer so I'm hoping for a huge crop this year.

DD, can't wait till Niki is a little more mature and you can let him out in the yard off leash to explore to his hearts content :) I hate putting my dogs on leash and it doesn't happen often.

p.s. the forsythia are blooming here ... they always make me smile, I love the bright yellow

Be sure Niki doesn't pee up against them DD. It will turn them yellow in no time. I have hosta, tiger lilies, salvia and strawberries coming up. My yellow and purple violets are already blooming even though everything was covered with snow last week. I think my clematis bit the dust. They have fallen victim to the dreaded dog pee.

Tia, the NL's come up as foliage then die off. In July they bloom, just stalks with pink lilies and no leaves. They're very odd, but pretty.

ah, thank you.....i think i know them!!!

YES!!! Seeing these plants, starting to show like this always makes me smile. There's going to be so many firsts for Nikki this year, he's going to have a great time, all the newness of everything.

Niki is going to have so much fun in the yard. He is going to be so spoiled. What does BeeBee think of him?

Hi Biz...I was kinda worried--hadn't seen you on in a while. Hope everything is OK.

escrow- my peach and apricot trees do the same thing. Last yeaar almost no fruit but the years before abundant fruit, so I hope for large amount of fruit this year. I don't know why they have an off year. If you find out, pls let me know. My orange trees do not seem to have that pattern but the myer lemon tree did. Almost no lemons last year, but looks like there is a lot now, and almost ready to pick them.

I just image-googled naked ladies, and I did get to a picture of the flower eventually. They are very pretty. I can't remember ever having seen them before. Perhaps they aren't so common in Europe.

You would not THINK it is Spring here in Ole CT. It is fucking cold! *shiver*
I heard on the news that it is going to be 80 deg F on Saturday. That is just nuts.
But I will take it. This cold kills my back!
