Smoking killed him?

Smoker Albert 'Dick' Whittamore left a message behind..he wanted these signs on the hearse and around his grave. Ummm, yeah, but, he was 85 years old...and he died of a heart attack. How long do people want to live anyhow? I'd say he had a good run, now he's just sounding a bit silly.

There have been cases against drug companies where supposedly people died due to a particular medication, and the pictures of them don't look much different than this guy. Little dried up people in their eighties or nineties. I just don't get it. Why is it not natural causes? Unless it is cancer, but often older folks develop one or more illnesses and how do you really sort out what caused what? There has been such exposure to pesticides, acid rain, etc. that I don't see how one thing or another can be blamed, especially at that age.
When I used to work IV therapy, there were people in their late eighties who were absolutely fearful of "getting AIDS" from IV's or something through the IV. It was bizarre. They could sneeze and die, and yet they were afraid of developing a huge illness that would take them at what was the end of their life, anyway. I get valuing life, but I don't get this.

My 71 year old mother (she is going to kill me) has been smoking since she was 13. She has diabetes, heart problems(had a bypass), high blood pressure, Osteoporosis, Scoliosis, thyroid issues, & had her uterus removed from Cervical cancer. Although he tells her to stop smoking, her doctor also tells her the only organ in her that is fine and dandy is her lungs! .... scratching head

I don't think it's a bad thing to do. Maybe it will make someone stop and think. That's probably all this guy wants. He's not suing anyone or anything.

Correction, the guy WASN'T suing anyone or anything...I do realize he is dead.

in these days of 'preventable medicine' people seem to forget
you get old (if you're lucky)
you get sick
you die

COPD can drag on for many years. It's quality, not quantity.
