My mom told me she watched Brokeback Mountain on TV and she said it was supposed to be such a good movie and she didn't even understand it. And I said, well, it was sad. And she said "Why were they sad? I don't get that, they had pretty wives and a nice family." And I said, they were sad, because they loved each other, but, they couldn't be together and that was sad. And she asked "Who? Who loved each other??" And I said, the fucking cowboys, for cripes sake. And she said "WHAT? The cowboys what???" And I said they were gay and she said, no they weren't. That doesn't even make sense.*
And I just figured she was dumb as a box of rocks until I saw it on TV late last night. Not only were there no sex scenes but, the cowboys couldn't kiss, hug or even look at each other. In that first contact scene, Ennis is shown laying by the fire while the other one is in the tent..then it's over and it cuts to another scene. So they made the story about..wft?..I don't even know, but, they weren't gay. Apparently they were sad because they didn't get to go fishing as much as they wanted. I love movies on TV.

Wow. I am really surprised that they cut that much out of the movie. I never saw it in the first place, but that is really weird that they would alter it to the point where you really can't understand the plot anymore.
Censorship aside I think tuwela may just not
get the jist of the plotline for the film. She
probably thot is was gonna be like an olde epi
of bonanza ! Can you imagine if say the remake
the series of bonanza and cross it with bbm ?!
Hmmmmm if I had to pick on of ppaaaawwhs
3 boys to be the one. I would say lil bro Joe ;)
and his palomino horse. Oh my what would
hop sing say ???!!! L0L ;) Kiki
Kiki, you're so young. :) Lil' Joe rode a paint..Ben had a buckskin. I don't remember the rest. Someone tell us, was there a Palimino?
I offered to loan her the movie, but, she said she didn't want to see that, it sounded too sad. Sheesh.
Oh my I never really knew DD guess I am young
I've only seen a few shows on DVD. Kiki :)
At first I thought your mom was just being insane like usual. But they really did cut that much out of the movie?! That's sad and wrong. Why play a movie when you're going to cut it to shreds? Let people rent or buy it and see it how it was meant to be.
I love horror movies and it makes me so annoyed when they play them on TV and cut out all the scary parts. There's no point! Also once I saw a movie on TV and they beeped it out everytime somebody said "God" as a swear word. All you heard was "BEEPdamn!" It was so stupid.
If they cut that much out of it, I can see why it didn't make sense to her. I haven't seen it, is it a sad movie? I'd like to see it because it was filmed all around where I live.
A horse is a horse to me. Colours on horses have different names than colours in my Crayola box and I never bothered to learn what they were...there isn't a chartreuse horse and if there were I might have a different opinion. If I even notice a horse, I don't think I notice what colour it is, I'm too busy running the other way listening for crazed neighing and murderous galloping.
Wow, for once we are all in agreement with your mother!!
Back around Halloween time, youngest and i decided to watch friday the 13 (number 1) on tv.
we did not see one speck of blood, one stabbing, one scene of two teens getting it on the cabin..nothing. it was cut to shreds and it was kind of sad.
if the cable company has to shred it that bad, then they should not show it at all.
Little Joe rode a black & white paint
Pa rode a buckskin
Hoss rode a dark brown
Adam rode a chestnut
so no palominos
Dear God shoot me now I know way too much about Bonanza!
I heard Burt Reynolds on a talk show once a few years back and he said that he caught Deliverance on TV one night. They had cut so much out of it that it looked like a movie about some guys going on a camping trip.
I thought it was a very sad movie.I think it was all the more sad because of Heath's death a year later. So many people I know made fun of it because of the gay angle. I just did not get them because to me it was a classic love story regardless of sex. He just could not commit. In the end when he keeps the bloodstained shirt just killed me. I once kept a piece of my clothing that had my ex's cologne on it for about 1 year and would take it out periodically to smell it. Love can do that to you. I miss Heath.
Anon when he gets the postcard back marked
return to sender - deceased that floored me !
His loss of communication was too finite. I cried.
When he places the postcard in the bag with
the two bloody shirts I sobbed ;( just seeing
that he kept all of the materials and his
preserverance of his physical memory of him
oh my ,,, it's too much to watch as I can see his
soul ! I can't even watch the movie anymore.......
......... Sigh.......... I call these types of feelings as
" beautiful breakdowns " we are all human and
we all need love. "Life it's so simple when you
find that you can love the life you are living. "
"Enjoy life ! " -Kiki :)
OMG! Ben Cartrights horse was magnificent! The most beautiful, like a kings horse. Of course, he was the king of the Ponderosa. Did I ever mention I met Hoss once in my neighborhood when I was about 8? Yea, I did. Nice guy, funny too.

Kiki, if you wanna see an excellent movie about the most devoted love I have ever witnessed please rent "Hatchi". You will need kleenex nearby. Just get it and you will not regret it. Richard Gere stars in it. And his beloved Akita "Hatchi"...watched it last night and I cannot remember the last time I was so moved. I mean, "The Blind Side" was great & very moving but this movie will have you from the get-go. <3

Kiki, I have the DVD's of My Dog Skip (Waaahhhh!!!) and The Notebook. My son loved a girl so much once that he got online and bought a copy of The Notebook directly from the author and had it signed as a gift for her. This was back in around 2003. If you just ask, you never know what you can get!! Yes, Dan Blocker was cute, just like on TV, only he was helping his friends that day with something and we asked where Little Joe was & he said he was back at the Ponderosa. he was just humoring us little girls. It was a big deal tho. I mean I am 52, I still think it was big deal, I was about 8 then. Thanks Kiki! You can rent "Hatchi" from RedBox for $1. I would own it tho. true story!! I love true dog love stories!
wwaaaahhhhh!!!!!!!
Rox
This Is My Father is a new one for me. I will rent it. Love both those fine gentlemen! Thanks Kiki

Kiki, I just remembered another one you would love. Life As A House. Hayden Christenson is in it as well as the star of it Kevin Kline among others. It's fabulous. Another kleenex box movie! But watch it if you haven't. It's great. Kevin Kline is so unappreciated.

Rox I saw that film & loved it ! Kevin kline
is like the way Hollywood treated Fred macMurray
totally understated in his day. Excellent leading
men potential but catagorized under comedy
contracts. If I mention Fred macMurray to anyone
the first thing I hear is how he was funny in my 3 sons.
It's a shame Fred never received the accolades
of his earlier works he made movies with the best
of the leading ladies out there. Katherine Hepburn
was a good friend of his after they worked together
on Alice Adams. Ahhhh Hollywood thinks they
have it all down pat but they don't know how to
run the movie biz anymore not like in the days on
the studio lots of olde Hollywood when acting was
considered a craft. Now not so much. But with
the few good men & women still hanging about
they got a dozen or so years left I'd say. Sir Anthony
Hopkins comes to mind just now. I remember him
in a film THE REMAINS OF THE DAY & I have
been in love with him ever since. Kristen Scott Thomas
also stars in that film with sir Anthony Hopkins.
Rox if you haven't see it RUN to your nearest
netflix asap ! Oh and btw THIS IS MY FATHER
is just a gorgeous film with a such a storyline on
looking up your roots. It gets me everytime too.
Thanks for the recommendations Rox. I will be
stocking up on Kleenex for the weekend. Kiki ;)
Just totally off topic but I must say this.
Kleenex in Canada is only available in white !
About 30 years ago or more it was sold in
pink blue green even a lavendar shade.
Some thing happened or some nitpiky law was
passed that the dye s used were evil or bad or
unkosher ??? Idk ??? Toilet paper as well it
all had to be white !!! Little do they know that
the bleach used to manufacture a perfect white
product contains the carcinogen dioxin ! So I'm
sitting here just shaking my head thinking and
wondering why the hell I can't get prettier Kleenex
if I want it without going to NYC and filling up
my suitcase full of dusty rose and pastel robins
egg blue boxes to have on hand as I watch my
beautiful movies ? Still shaking my head idk why ?
Sometimes govt really should myob ! Kiki ;(
Rox, I watched Hatchi and I got so upset over it. Why didn't someone step in and help that poor pup. I couldn't take that movie, it tore me up. I haven't cried that hard in I can't remember how long.
