I was bored out of my mind last night and I picked up a guitar and was sadly plucking it. I was rusty and so were the strings. I started out with some Janis Joplin tunes, which are easy stuff and suddenly found myself playing this. I barely remember it and never learned it..but, I was playing it and pretty well too. Odd. I wonder why? Anyone remember this song? Any Smith fans out there?
I'm a Smith's fan too - my husband teases me about this relentlesly. Whenever we see the old new wave/goth kids in pictures or on TV he says 'look honey, there's your people' Ha Ha - he is so funny.
A prime example of Johnny Mars genius at work. A perfect melody, bcked by Morrissey's beautiful voice and clever lyrics. The lyric: "Send me the pillow, the one that you dream on and I'll send you mine", conjures up an image of 2 long distance lovers who so badly need to feel each other.
I think just the way Morrissey sings this song on the record is so tender. He makes the lyrics mean so much more than they seem to at first glance. It's almost like a love song to women as a whole.
Some stupid people think the lyrics are too silly to go with Marr's music. These people have no soul.
This song is a great example of the meaning and emotional weight music carries...that guitar part is so wonderfully moody, particularily the intro. Well done, Marr.
Me like. I've been listening to The Black Keys lately on my ipod. Bluesy rock with a little rough edge. "Your touch" is a good one, "I got mine" is playing right now at full blast on the speakers-yeah!.
Drop your cocks and grab your socks boys! gotta go. I'm in a rebellious and defiant mood today-feel like Miss Tia would...fuck authority today!.
