Poor bear cubs...stupid illegal hunters

Two adorable orphan bear cubs at the Pocono Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. They are planning to tranquilize a wild mother bear and sneak these two in with her cubs after they rub them with Vicks Vaporub to kill the stranger smell. If she wakes up and doesn't kill them, they'll have a chance. Rangers think some idiot killed their mother out of season. I hate illegal hunters. I fully support legal hunts and hunters, they are the main supporters of wildlife and their habitats..not money grubbing gas bags like PETA. Hunters have a vested interest in maintaining our wild life. But, redneck idiots shoot anything that moves and leave orphans all over. If they don't wise up, they're going to significantly reduce the numbers of the very animals they so love shooting..for no good reason. Redneck idiots with guns. Some dufus is probably drinking his Bud on a home made stinking bear rug in his smelly rusty trailer today. I hate them.

Poor little baby bears. Stupid Hunters not following the rules. That is like the deer spotters we have around this area. Half of them could careless they are just into it for the kill.

Kinda like that one place I heard about in Africa or some foreign area you can shoot animals with any kind of ammunition. Just for the thrill of it. Sick Sick.

Poachers are ignorant idiots. Most poached deer will just have the head and backstraps removed, so they're not hungry, just mean.

These reckless idiots and the poachers that come over here to the US from other countries for bear gall bladders! All so, some suppositious man from an Asian culture can mix up some potion so he can get a hard on!

I apologize to any whom I may culturally offend (please remove my post ASAP if you think it offensive, Pat) but I think using animal parts as aphrodisiacs is plain retarded. Some old fart wants a bigger, better woody, so a bear or a tiger or a large snake has to die. It is ridiculous, and will be the death of much of our planet. There is such a market for bear bile, or tiger penis, or snake genitals, or whatever, that it is truly sickening. People give no real thought to the ramifications of their actions or desires. I was horrified a couple of years ago to see a picture in a National Geographic, I think, of a totally white snake, writhing on the floor of an Asian restaurant kitchen. The article said that in order to get the greatest health benefits from the snake, they removed it's genitals, heart, skin, etc. while it was alive. It sickens me, and if I could, I would take out a few of the ignorant asswipes who do this sort of thing. The planet would be a better place without them.
Some years ago, my parents regularly went camping/fishing in a national park, a couple hours away. They fed the deer (totally tame park deer) every evening, until the last year they went. The deer were gone. A bunch of guys from Mexico came in and shot all the deer. No licenses (never would have been given for in a camping area, anyway) and no idea of the laws. They just took out everything. Every last animal in the herd. I hope they and their families choked on it.
I hope the little bear cubs survive, but I don't know what the chance of a mother bear adopting two additional cubs is. So sad they just couldn't have been allowed their natural mother. Hopefully asshats like the ones that killed their mother out of season, will shoot each other. That would be a fitting end.

Obviously mistreatment of people is the most heinous thing and I'm no vegan, but senseless and gratuitous mistreatment of the planet's animals overwhelms me with pain. There is no balance. Why is there no balance?

Non cuddly animals deserve humane treatment and protection also. This is a clip from Sharkwater. Fast forward to 1:50

What amuses me the most is that you have no idea of what you are talking about.

Gandhi would have said I live well then Frimmy, for I am fed, mounted and worked often.

We have a retired game warden that lives in our neighbor. About a year ago, he showed us a black bear skin. It was beautiful, glossy black, and a lot more soft than I imagined. They are endangered in our area. There used to be many around here--now you can count them on your hands. Many people watched this bear because it was coming so close to homes. A Marine on leave shot it. Now, around here, if you it in trouble with the Game Warden, it is far worse than being in trouble with the law. Wildlife comes down on you like a Mack truck. They cut you no slack. The Marine was late getting back to base because he was in jail and no one was willing to bail him out. I would really hate to be that guy. As bad as the Game Warden is ---I can only imagine what the Marines did when they found out why he was late. I never did hear what happened to him! But I'm pretty sure he was no longer a happy hunter!
I hope these little ones can find a willing mom! I guess they will have only one chance to find out!

My husband used to be a hunter when he was much younger. I knew Michael was a good shot. He used to build and repair guns before his sight got bad. And, of course he would have to sight them in. The point is that he never killed anything--which was alright by me. But I asked him why he never shot anything. He told me he had a deer sighted in one time and the deer turned and looked at him. Through the magnified sights, he could see the deer' eyes clearly and he said that deer was looking straight at him. He said he couldn't pull the trigger and he often thought about those eyes. I knew there was a good reason why I married him!

(looks up & down the thread)

What, no Miss Tia with a "fuck illegal hunters!" ?? Without that the world just seems out of sorts.

I hope they survive & grow into big healthy bears.

I'm all for the legal hunting & people who make use of as much of the animal as possible, although I don't think the rednecks care if they drive animals into extinction, they'd probably just start hunting people or something. I can't read the word "redneck" without hearing the music from Deliverance playing in my head.

I don't like this hunting for kicks or trophies or because parts are said to have health benefits. An entire animal dead so someone can have it's gallbladder, that's awful to me.

Bayou Jane, you're hubby sounds like he was a gem of a man.

We've got a whole butt load of black bears up here just outside the city. All the rural people are having to go to special measures with their garbage. In spring they go crazy getting all the skunk weed off their properties because the bears seek it out & eat it to help them poop after hibernating for so long. Yep, it's bear exlax. They've broken into a few garages to get to the garbage that was being stored in them until pickup day. There have also been a couple taken out inside the city limits by big rigs.

Yes, I was also waiting for Miss Tia's exclamation!

Bayou Jane; I stopped when I shot a huge raccoon that ate horse feed and got fearless and too big to avoid. He would chase people away from the trough even.

I told myself I'd shoot him if he got aggressive. He got too close and i shot him. His eyes and expression left me disturbed. I wrote about it here before. No more hunting of little animals for me, and now I'd rather watch them

I love it when people actually support hunters. Me and my husband hunt deer among others animals but only do it legally and if it is meat that we eat. I know that they are not injected full of growth hormones. It has to be healthier. A friend told me that a long time ago her baby's peditrician told her that we are growing a bunch of giants. It can be backed up by the fact that the US Army's recruits average height keeps getting taller and taller. I really believe this is because of all the growth hormones/steroids that we inject into the animals getting them ready to slaughter. I will stick to my hunting and eating what we kill but I will never do it illegally.

I'd like to have a chance to chase hunters through the woods with a gun, several guns. I want them naked and without weapons. Let us see who looooooves hunting then.

I have no problem with hunting for food. It's a way of life around here. But some idipts will get carried away and really become assholes about it---who gets the most or the biggest! The only good thing I can say for these people is that they usually share the meat with others---they don't waste it. And I'm being nice giving them credit for that.

Agree with all the comments. My husband used to hunt when we lived back east. Have bird dogs. Deer and once an elk. Always ate the fowl and meat. I have a HUGE problem with the fuckers that are killing all of the wolves and leaving the pups to die. These ass holes have nearly decimated MANY packs in OR - oh yeah and Palin in her helicopter taking them out. I sure hope Mama takes these 2. Up in the Sierra's I have seen a lot of Mama Bears with 3 cubs, so maybe especially if it's an experienced mother.

ditto that. Those babies might die now because of some dumbass hick with a shotgun. How many die every year as orphans? We have no idea. But if they took the hide to a taxidermist thats worth anything, he should report them. But that wont happen. They are so cute and cuddly. Maybe they will come back when they grow up & hunt his ass down! "You killed our momma!!" Hope so!!

The Pocono Wildlife Rehab Center is a wonderful organization. It's nonprofit and they do what they can for the animals with donations. I had family volunteer there and I've visited it. I hope the little cubs make it.
