Booty

I just went on a spree. OMG, we never get trees and shrubs here, it's a tiny farm town, so all there is for sale in Spring is a few apple trees. But, for some reason the hardware store ordered all kinds of landscaping plants. I had to make three trips in my little car and this is only part of it. I got a weeping willow, a river clump birch, 3 variegated dogwoods, 2 pink spirea, 2 regular spirea, french lilacs, purple lilacs...and a shit load of other stuff. I am going to have to eat Ramen all month. My mom came out as I was wrestling a 10 foot willow out of the car and said "Aren't those pretty!" And I looked her dead in the eye and said "Yes, they are, and if you touch one leaf on any of them, I will burn your house to the ground with you in it." She was so mad, she stomped back in her house and slammed the door. But, I meant it. I really did. I have a lot of work to do now. I think that one little dogwood will look awesome right there at the corner of the house where I sat it down. There's a gas pipe there though. Perhaps I can miss it, if not, it was nice knowing you. Because I will need a cigarette after digging all these holes. Heh.

ROFL Crabbie!

Isnt it fun to buy bushes and trees? \

I do not really have anymore room to plant anymore foundation plants.
My neighbor gave me (for free!!!!) a rose bush. He had an extra. It is an expensive plant. I have to choose the right spot for it. I will take a pic and show you, Pat, when I get it in the ground.

GOOD FOR YOU!
I'm sure you know this, but just in case, don't plant the weeping willow next to the house, near a septic tank drain field, or over any sewer or water lines. The roots DESTROY pipes, etc., looking for water.
I just planted one 2 years ago at my cabin, right next to my HORRIBLE neighbors garage, and his underground drainage pipe that leads to the lake. I did it on purpose to piss him off. hahahaha!

The willow is going out back where the trees were cut down. I'm so glad everyone is gardening. I wish I lived nearby Tia.

If she touches your garden, I'm bringing the torch.

She's on notice. I hate her so much I don't go outside in the daytime, unless I have to.

Came home from work and read this post. Decided to move a few Hostas and plan for what Annuals to
fill in with around Patio. Thanks
for kicking my butt into high gear.
I needed the push. Now I am even thinking of taking a "Mental
Health" day tomorrow to get the Annuals.

Isn't it nice to have DD back making plans for her yard and garden and sounding energetic and happy! That warms the cockles of MY cold heart.

What's a cockle anyway? Why is its default temperature cold?

It looks like you had a ball, DD. Weeping willow are my favourite & so beautiful, but watch where you plant it, their root systems hold a lot of water & people who have them too near the house usually don't have a dry basement again. Although if you plant it close to your property line you can always flood your neighbours basement. You've got such gorgeous varieties, the dogwoods, the spirea, lilacs, your place is really going to be all in amazing blooms in spring. It's really going to look so incredible!

Now we just need to get you a fast growing thorn hedge to keep relatives out, give you privacy & get you a cattle prod so you can keep that wild bunch away from your lovely plants & trees. One zap should do it, saw my dad back into one of those prods, it's impossible not to laugh while legs & arms are flailing everywhere & he's making sounds like James Brown, it's too comical. And yes, he was fine, he wasn't hurt.

lol Crabbie!

Yum, Miss Tia, fresh golden raspberries & cherries, so, so good!

Hostas are my favorites. They come back year after year and don't need any care. I am trying to figure out how to get some beauties out of my neighbor's backyard because her flea-bitten mutt is destroying them. I'll probably be shot for trying---maybe a midnight raid will work.

LOL! I didn't expect to find it so easily. There you go DD, a quick growing thorn hedge, now all you have to do is find someone in America that sells it for a good price. :)

I am just this wknd wrapping up all my planting. I have had dirt under my fingernails for the last 4 wknds in a row. Planted shrubs, annuals, perenials in the front, side and backyard. I bought a bunch of marigolds and Dalias this year, never planted them before can anyone offer me any tips to prolong their lives. I live in Florida, DD you're so lucky to be able to grow lilacs, I wish I could have honeysuckle and lilacs trailing on my back fence, no such luck with this climate though but I can still remember how they smelled from when I grew up in NY.

GLORIOUS day here. As soon as I stepped out the door the smell of lillacs was overwhelming and I instantly thought of Miss Tia. Ran errands and took the dogs to the dog park and that fragrance is all over town. There's a big stand of lillac bushes on my property on a hillside and I fricken can't get to them to cut and bring inside. DAYUM

DD I still think u should padlock her into
her own house as a prisoner and you be
free to enjoy your own garden. Go back to
the hardware store and get a heavy duty
steel lock and deadbolt chain set asap !
