Ideas needed!

Remember my prom dress scarecrow from last year? Well, I took it down, because I have no veg garden there this year and it was pretty scraggly. I am left with a 7 foot pole and it's buried 4 foot deep, it's very sturdy. I spent the last week digging in a circle around it to make a good sized round flower bed. I am planting it today. But, the pole..I want to make that area my magik circle and create an outdoor alter. A place where I can spell and worship in peace. The pole and garden will be the back edge of my circle..the back drop. I want to do something Pagan with the pole. I thought about a big Pentagram nailed to the pole, but, maybe a Goddess figure would be better. That's really what the scarecrow represented and she presided over things quite well last year. I would like to make her more permanent or more nature related. What do you think I should use and how would you do it? It also has to be cost effective and pretty large..like human size. Any ideas?

P.S. I DO have some veggies this year, tomatoes, peas, beans, radishes..but, they are now by the fence. And the corn patches have been replaced by shrubs and trees. Gardens change and so needs. As my garden goes through this new stage, I feel some peace and tranquility out there. Finally.

i would go with a natural nature goddess.....plant sunflowers around the pole and when they flower they can the face....also at the base of the pole plant some moon flower seeds (i can mail you some i have plenty)....they flower at night, glow in the light of the moon and are HEAVENLY smelling (LOVE me some moon flowers!!).....plant sage in the circle and rosemary.....

you could even plant some flowers in a pentagram shape in the circle.....sage or rosemary or marigolds....then you'd have a natural pentagram to focus on.....

you could also take some wire and sticks/branches and make a rudimentary 'stick figure' and then let the moon flower vines grow and twist around it and create a living goddess.....

I like your ideas. And you are psychic. the sunflowers are already up and the moon flowers went in yesterday.

Pat,

Is ground dowsing important before you build?. I remember reading about finding the dowsing line to build for optimum energy.

I like that idea, but, I went for the most private spot. This property is more in tumed with the Earth spirits than anywhere I've lived. It's where I always get lights in my pics.

I would like to know how you did your scarecrow last year. Are there directions here? Can you remember what month? I will go search myself if I can get an idea. I want to build one for my side garden.

I will truly miss the prom queen. I was hoping she would have a date this year.

I was thinking along the lies of Miss Tia with a pentagram in the circle. Is the circle big enough for that? Marigolds last in the heat and would look nice. I'm really not very creative, but I have no problem copying things that others make. Hope to see some pic as you progress.

Heidi, you need a sturdy pole, then put a cross piece on it at the shoulder. I then bent wire hangers to form "arms" and nailed them on the cross piece. The head was an old plastic bowl with a straw hat. Then I dressed it for prom.
