Dana Plato's life and death was one of those strange sad Hollywood stories you can never forget. Now, the son she left behind has passed away. Tyler Lambert, 25, killed himself two days before the aniversary of his mother Dana's death. How sad.

That is so sad. He looked like Dana. I wonder who started taking care of him after Dana died, his dad?
Strange, but many children of suicide victims end up the same way. It just seems that they take it to be to be an easy way out. Truth is, it is very difficult for those left behind. Once suicide plans are made they become foremost and virtually impossible to change.
I knew a guy that had his shit together in life. He killed a person in self defense and killed himself the next week.
His Mom called his platoon Sergeant and we went to his house to find him slouched in the corner of a room with a shotgun by his side and teeth and brain matter on the wall.
well, when she died they had been living in an old motor home and thats where she OD'd. This kid has probably had it rough form the get-go. Sooo very sad. He was a very nice looking young man. Maybe he had some of the same mental issues she had? Was he on drugs too? It does seem to happen , like father like son and so on...this is very sad news :( rox
Jar!!! Thats horrible. Obviously, your buddy had a sensitive conscience. Had he killed in battle as well? Does that bother a guy as much as a civil matter would? Or is it just a job? I can totally see how it would mess him up, unable to separate the two men that he was, soldier & civilian. rox
I was new in the Marines and he was in my Infantry platoon. He was a really nice guy and had been in the Corps for a few years, but it was before Desert Shield, so few had real combat experience back then.
He killed a guy in the parking lot of a club when he got jumped by a group of guys and he disarmed the crowbar from one and stabbed him with it.
The next weekend he did not report for formation, so we (Company duty officer) called his home and his Mom said he had been in the apartment off base. We showed up and found him dead.
Oh that's really sad :( both stories. It's so hard to get back once you've lost them. I remember how normal Dana sounded in an interview a week before she took her life. She seemed and said she was in a happy place after putting the video store heist behind her. Well she was as most people who commit suicide are they pretend that it's all good and that's the irony of it all. Joan Rivers husband Edgar Rosenberg also commuted suicide and Joan said it's the most selfish thing a person can do. It totally devastes the remaining loved ones with ???s and why ? What could we have done to help ? It's a real nightmare for the living. Joan cursed him and she will never forgive him for leaving the way he did and what it did to their daughter. Ohe vey ! Too much just read her book.
Todd bridges who played Willis on tv with Dana was close to Tyler after Dana died. He s kept in contact with him closely since and I read yesterday that he is devastated. Todd is beside himself over Tyler s suicide. How tragic & sad :(
It's very difficult when all hope is gone. That the only choice left is goodbye forever. The striking resemblence tyler has to his mom Dana makes it sadder in this case. Poor kid :(
Jar, I lost a friend pretty much the same way. He blew his face clear off. After months in the hospital, he died of a deliberate overdose of pain meds.
Sometimes you see it coming, and there's still nothing you can do.
Jarhead and how humiliating DC s death was the way he was found all strung up in the closet of his hotel room. Auto erotica asphixiation ! How embarassing for him & his family. Kiki :(

Pat, confusion here. You say a friend was in the hosp and died of a OD but that he blew his face off? Sorry, I dont follow. Either way, very sad. I do believe Dana's death was ruled suicide tho. Gawd, this just all sucks. Sorry for everyone. rox
The neighbor of ours who recently committed suicide was out in the yard that day. He mowed the lawn, had the weed eater out, was repotting some plants. He set the trowel down, and took the barbecue into the house, and locked everything. What is it that makes someone put down what they are doing and just take their own life? I focus on it less and less, but I am still just totally mystified. You all are right, it is Hell for those left behind. We were not actual family, but it has taken weeks to be able to drive past that house without feeling absolute anxiety, and despair. Two nights ago someone (probably the daughter's boyfriend) started up the guy's truck, and drove it into their driveway. It was really too freaky for me to see that truck up and running again. He was the only one that ever drove it. I guess that people who do commit suicide, are so deeply in depression that they can't really think clearly about what they are doing to others. I guess the despair is too all-encompassing. Maybe all they can think of is that they need to put an end to their pain, IDK. The death of DP's son is so very, very sad. RIP.
Sucide runs in families...it runs in mine...my aunt has tried to kill herself about four times. She even had her pets put to sleep before one attempt because she had no one to leave them in the care of. Now her daughter is grown up and has tried to commit suicide a few times as well.
I also have another aunt on the other side of the family who killed herself. We all know this, even though my dad insists she did not. He says this because they are Catholic and apparently it's the Catholic belief that if you kill yourself you go to hell. (Don't know if there are any Catholics here who can confirm that.)
Yes I was also raised Catholic and if you committed suicide it was considered a sin and you were not permitted to be buried in a Catholic cemetary. I think they have loosened up a bit since then and they will bury anyone because they are in need of $$$. Also, divorcees were not allowed to be buried on catholic ground either at one time.
Jarhead...Dante said it better than any quote I have heard on this subject. And it's so true. Our minds can really mess us up. But then isn't that who we are?
Such a painfully sad legacy to leave your children with, suicide. Are these people who are too proud to go for help, who don't want to try and 'fight' for their lives, their health? Tragic.

A heavy heart. It's alarming when you can convince yourself that being dead would be the best alternative, but everyone's situation is different.
Fact is that sometimes death seems more attractive than carrying so much pain in life.

People are unpredictable. I prefer cats and dogs.

i thought dana died of an accidental overdose....why is everyone saying it was a suicide?
Maybe accidental overdose is more accurate. Her son died the same way, he suffered from depression.

Suicide is sad enough. Dying like David Carradine is tragic.

Dana's son died of a self inflicted gunshot wound. Not an overdose.
That's right Bayou. Dante's visions of the punished and his descriptions of faults in human character are the best.
Milton's narrative of the war in heaven and the ire of the devil, Hell and death are also my favorite reads. "I sat where you dare not soar"-Milton
