River Clump Birch

I planted two of these yesterday. I put them on the fence line where those cocksuckers cut my trees down last year. I also filled in with fast growing dog woods. These are much more agressive plants than what was there. I hope the bastards enjoy them because they should completely block their view of me in a couple of years. I don't know what's so damn interesting about staring at me anyhow. Cocksuckers.

DD...it's your sparkling personality. Or they really have a damn dull life.

Is that a river birch? I like those. I had a small dogwood tree, but the june bugs ate it. I planted it one day and that night I heard a steady chewing sound. The next day, there wasn't a leaf on the tree and of course it died.

Miss Tia, I have another one for your list...FUCK JUNE BUGS!!! They ate my tree.

Miss Tia...tha was a couple of years ago. Bug the June Bugs are out already down here. They just get worse as the months get warmer. Finally, it get's so bad, you can't turn on a light and walk out your door. You might inhale a few.

ICSillyPeople...some goons, hired by sweet mom, cleared out DD's yard. They cut down just about everything. DD was using this growth to cut out the sight of her neighbors---some more goons. I don't remember if they took the prom queen. The prom queen was a scarecrow dressed in a prom dress. But she was so much more. She was the queen of the garden and reigned proudly over the nicest gardens ever produced in a backyard that took months for DD to clean out!!! It was a sight to see! But DD works magic and has some damn good soil. Her garden will rule again. (I just don't know how she keeps the weeds out.)I had hoped this year she would have a king to go with the queen, but we will have to wait and see. I'm sure it depends on her health and we're all sending good thoughts for better health.

Beautiful trees! I planted a dogwood this weekend. Didn't realize it was a Japanese dogwood, as opposed to American. I'm hoping it dies, so I can get my money back (at Lowes). I found something I like better...flowering cherry tree.

linda, why not take it back to lowes before it dies? you have like 90 days from a purchase for a return....don't wish a tree dead!

why not plant the other tree next to it? have both? japanese dogwoods are nice!

They're very picturesque! Along with the dogwood trees they should look terrific.

Can a 5 year old Cherokee Chief
Dogwood be transplanted?? It finally bloomed last
Spring (2 flowers) and was in full bloom this year. I would like to move it. Any advise?

Vicki, probably, they are very hardy. Even if you only got part of the root, it would take off. BUT, I recomend cutting off some twigs (about 6 inches long), now is the perfect time to do this..and you stick them in a pot of dirt and water them. Put the babies in a spot with part shade. Let them winter in the pots and next year you'll have new Dogwood shrubs. I've done this before and it works really well, you don't even need rooting hormone.

Thank you,Pat. I will try it. I
will take the sprouts now and dug
up the tree when we go Up North
and plant it there. I would take
a lot of plants and shrubs from this
property if I thought they would
survive being moved. I over-planted here.
