I just have to make a quick post about 9 By Design last night. OMG. Bob and Cortney Novogratz finished the hotel they were designing. It was their first commercial design and they promised a big bang. They didn't disappoint and I was blown away. In the midst of that, they were having sound proof glass installed in their modern 5 story city house so they could sell it. They also had a tag sale to raise some quick cash and they sold the most interesting junk I've ever seen. I wanted to be there sooooo bad. Their seven kids were there and one little boy got tired and he climbed into an antique bed and went to sleep. The parents showed their sense of humor when they put up a sign that said, "Bed, $100......with child, $75. The kids took it as the joke it was and I cracked up. One of the hand made art flags for the hotel was stolen, so they flew the artist in and Courtney suggested her twin girls could help, they know how to sew. I'm used to idiots like Kate Gosselin, who thinks giving her kids a xeroxed color book page, advertising some product she's hawking, and picking out one color of crayon for her kids and calling it "a projek" is the best TV families can do. Not these people. A kid scene I was dreading turned out to be very cool when those kids got busy with the artist to produce real fabric art. And no one was standing over them screaming or doing it for them. They were machine sewing and cutting shapes and the end result was real, raw and deserving of a spot in a fancy hotel. The other kids also helped..for real. They were given design elements, told how many to each room and off they went, while their parents concentrated on major matters. This family is amazing and makes me realize what a joke those ignorant breeders on TLC are.

9 By Design Rocks

I saw it and I really like this show also.
You know they have money but they are not pretentious about it.
I will be looking for their next season.
You make me want to watch TV again just to see this show
I really like this show.
These are creative, hard-working people who seem to thrive on noise and activity and they maintain a sense of humor.
They treat their kids with a proper amount of authority and respect.
It's great to see such a large family being a cohesive, loving unit.
Looking forward to next season's shows.
I don't know. The husband kinda gets on my nerves...

So glad you posted on this show again. Amazing epi last night and I thought of you when I was watching. The hour flies by. I totally agree about the awesome tag sale -- I soooo wanted to be there too. Everything at that one table for $2.00. The making of the flag with artist Ann really was an amazing surprise. These folks are the real deal. I'm confused about why they are moving...is it to raise $ to enable them to do more projects??? Do you know where they will move to? This is my new most favorite show. Really glad that you tyrned me on to it!
I think they juggle big money and between projects, they don't have it. They flip houses for a living. I was glad to see they have one country house they won't sell though. So, the kids do have one permanent home. Soon, they'll be really wealthy though, because they are so damned talented. It's an amazing show. You can find it free on Hulu if you don't get Bravo.
