Pat, did your mother buy the car? I ask because she is of the generation that would say that you don't need A/C. They didn't have it their whole lives why should you drive around in a fancy expensive car. Hopefully you took this the way I meant it.

Muser mom that olde crappy excuse for not having a/c in summer really ticks me off. I usually counterback with well then why do u have the heat on in the winter ?! Duhhhh the point is to be comfortable. Too much heat inside a car can cause a vasovago nerve attack and the driver will faint at the wheel. I hate these cheapskates that have air con and won't turn it on like ( my mother) and she still has clear plastic slip covers over her good sofa in a room no one can go sit in and use. Good grief!!!!!!!!! What is the point in having everything when you won't use it. Life is to be lived and enjoyed and shared with love. It's not a display of pretence. I'm so happy :) to have A/c. I love it ! It's so humid up here today I won't even go for a dip in my pool not even under the refreshing waterfall. I'd rather just stay in the a/c and drink my ice cold mojito. I love Thursdays.

I remmeber back in the 60's my grandpa bought a big Pontiac station wagon, top of the line thing. He was going on a road trip to Corpus Christi, so he went and had an AC added to the car. It was like attaching an 8-track deck under your dashboard! I mean AC wasn't an option back then on most cars but they had add-on units. Gawd, I hadn't thot of that in a long ass time. Makes me think of riding in that car & my grandmas purse smelling like leather,tobacco & Dentyne gum! Always! I can smell it now! rox

I'm sweating my butt off! It is 95, but feels like 110! What doesn't help is that I have hyperhydrosis which means I pretty much sweat all the time anyway and then when you add this heat to it, it's awful! I wake up sweaty and can be sitting in a cold room and still sweat. It freaking sucks!! I hate wearing white shirts, b/c I ruin them.
I've tried those new deodarants to use at night and they don't help one bit. I started using baby powder along with deodarants and that doesn't help.
If anyone has any suggestions, I'm willing to try.
Sorry for venting! I'm just aggravated that I'm sitting in my nice cool office with a tank top on and am still sweating.

My parents and the in-laws are of the no AC generation. It's difficult (in summer) to travel with them in the car---no-one wants the AC on but my husband, son and I. I developed it after getting H1N1 last fall, though a couple of months ago it gradually got better. In the last few weeks it is on the rise again, and I am wondering if it is because of allergies---all the grass blooming, etc. I will never forget the sensation of trying to turn in bed, and having to grab my pillow around my head and scrunch down as my body did a complete backflip inside my head. It was so real, that I literally had to hang on to things and wait for it to subside. If I tried to move my head again too soon, it would repeat. The acoustic stim didn't really help, either. I hope it goes away soon, and that you're able to sleep. My husband and I heard weird screeching coming from the coop today. We found Twiggy, our Welsummer hen in the nestbox, and she was puffed up into a huge ball of feathers, and was screaming at any of the other birds that came anywhere near her. When we opened the door she started chittering and growling at us, it was hysterical. Wild-eyed little wanna-be broody!!! Later she jumped off the nest and left the prettiest terra-cotta-ish speckled egg. I'll see if I can get my hubby or son to help me reduce the size of the pictures I have on my laptop, and I'll send you some, Pat. I really need to record Twiggy screaming for YouTube. It is just too funny!
I'm sitting here procrastinating. My husband is still dizzy from Pristiq withdrawal, so he isn't any help around here, except that he is working on his and Andy's cars. I bathed both doggies. Mia doesn't usually go willingly into the tub, but she did this time, and about halfway through she was actually making the "laughing dog" noise, so I guess she liked it. Then I mowed the lawns. Next is cleaning out the chicken coop and the brooder, but I just don't feel like it yet. Today is the day (unless tomorrow is the day) that we rehome our Silkie. We put him on Craig's List a few days ago and got a response from people who own a farm and would be interested in allowing him to free-range with their flock. They promise that he will never go to freezer camp or the stew pot, and their farm looks really nice. They have ducks, geese, chickens, horses, etc. I think it might be a really good home for him. I hope so, anyway. If you want to see him, look up Craig's list Portland, Oregon, and check out the Black Silkie ad. He is cute. My husband called him Sissy, when we thought he was a female, but now his name is Zeus.

They went home last night. When asked about the nasty brick of a mat the retriever has on his back, the owner replied that he had his ANNUAL grooming appointment coming up. ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS? That dog went a WHOLE YEAR without brushing? Fuck them. If you can't be bothered with basic grooming of your dog, then you shouldn't be allowed to have one. Fucking people shouldn't even be allowed to breed.
At least I take comfort on the fact that the dogs love their people. And that the damn owners had to pay for pounding, re-license and some other fees. Serves them right, fucking assholes.

the problem is the AC will NOT turn on!!! i turn the AC on (duh) but it won't turn on in the condensor?/compressor?.....my garage mechanic (he works out of his garage at home) checked the fuses and tried to bypass some ignition on it to start it and it wouldn't start.....he said i had to take to a place and have it hooked up to the computer....bah....
it worked fine all last summer and i used it once this year just fine....now i turn it on and i just get warm air blowing at me and the AC won't turn on where it should....
my mechanic is GOOD! he use to work for a dealer but he got so much side work he quit....he is very honest, CHEAP! and if he can't fix something he'll tell you and he'll tell you what he tried so you can take it elsewhere and they don't have to repeat stuff!!

Pat- my MIL posted pics of a flower she had bloomed and I immediately thought of you...it is called Voodoo Lily..she said that when it first blooms it stinks to high hell to attract flies to pollenate it and then the smell goes away after a day. look it up! ..I'm going to make her get me a bulb because I'm a lily freak anyways. I had my tubes clamped yesterday and I'm sore and can't play with my babies :-( Belly button where they made the incision for the scope is very sore and tender and I can't move without being in pain..hopefully it heals quickly and in the mean time I'm relaxing in bed browsing the net..neither of which I ever get to do anymore! -Miranda-
Kiki...you can bet a/c was the best invention ever. I can remember those days before schools were a/c'ed. Believe it or not, that was the early 70's. We had to wear dresses and our legs would stick to the desks. How in the hell did we do it? I also remember riding in our brand new Impala when I was little. My sister was driving and on the weekend we had the "Ride the Avenue" thing, like you see in the movies. My sister used to make me roll up the windows so it looked like the car was a/c'ed. We always looked like we had just gotten out of a swimming pool. We would sweat so much, we were drenched. The things I would do to be with the big kids. I would have to get on the floor when a really cool guy drove by. But I learned a lot! Thankfully, that was the last unair-conditioned car we ever owned.

I have an old car, a 95 Lesabre. 2 years ago the AC went out and it cost me 500 bucks for a new compressor. It was well worth it. I cannot do without air in my car. My husband keeps saying why don't you get rid of that car? My answer i No! the air still works. LOL It's not pretty looking. It seems that year all the Buicks had an issue with peeling paint. It still has a nice smooth ride and the air works. Now that I just had the rack and pinion fixed (another 450.00 bucks) it's like a new car. It only has 82000 original miles on it. What more do I need?
It's been hot and humid, in the 90's here but we've been having MAJOR storms the past 2 weeks. We've had way more rain days in June than we had in April.
I agree, Jarhead. It is sadness beyond sadness. I feel it clear to the bone. It simply is disgusting and painful to me that the people in charge of BP put so little value on the people, the fish and birds and other wildlife in the gulf states. I just don't know how an area comes back from something like this.

I had my tubes clamped yesterday and I'm sore and can't play with my babies :-( Belly button where they made the incision for the scope is very sore and tender and I can't move without being in pain..hopefully it heals quickly and in the mean time I'm relaxing in bed browsing the net..neither of which I ever get to do anymore! -Miranda-

I can remember those days before schools were a/c'ed. Believe it or not, that was the early 70's. We had to wear dresses and our legs would stick to the desks. How in the hell did we do it?
I also remember riding in our brand new Impala when I was little. My sister was driving and on the weekend we had the "Ride the Avenue" thing, like you see in the movies. My sister used to make me roll up the windows so it looked like the car was a/c'ed. We always looked like we had just gotten out of a swimming pool. We would sweat so much, we were drenched. The things I would do to be with the big kids. I would have to get on the floor when a really cool guy drove by. But I learned a lot!
Thankfully, that was the last unair-conditioned car we ever owned.
I'm sad for kids of today sometimes.
Sad for the state of the world, and sad for the lack of hope for a better life for the poor and those who are truly trying to get ahead without a bailout.

I have an old car, a 95 Lesabre. 2 years ago the AC went out and it cost me 500 bucks for a new compressor. It was well worth it. I cannot do without air in my car. My husband keeps saying why don't you get rid of that car? My answer i No! the air still works. LOL It's not pretty looking. It seems that year all the Buicks had an issue with peeling paint. It still has a nice smooth ride and the air works. Now that I just had the rack and pinion fixed (another 450.00 bucks) it's like a new car. It only has 82000 original miles on it. What more do I need?
It's been hot and humid, in the 90's here but we've been having MAJOR storms the past 2 weeks. We've had way more rain days in June than we had in April.

I agree, Jarhead. It is sadness beyond sadness. I feel it clear to the bone.
It simply is disgusting and painful to me that the people in charge of BP put so little value on the people, the fish and birds and other wildlife in the gulf states.
I just don't know how an area comes back from something like this.
