Random thoughts..yesterday my friend Tamara and I were talking and she said "head East." Some old memory sparked in my damaged brain and I said, there used to be a band called Head East. She didn't remember them. I do though, I saw them play and I wore out their Flat As A Pancake album. Funny, the things you remember.
I'm thinking ... Who? Clicked on the video & after 20 seconds into the riff, I'm saying Hell Yes, I remember them. Jacked up the speakers and listened to it twice. Nice way to start the morning. It's been a long time. Thanks!
Are you calling me 'an old fart'? (just because I've got a couple years on you ;)
I've never been able to remember group names and song titles. But I DO remember the songs!
Found out when my mother was in an Memory unit(Alzheimer's/Dementia), that music is the last thing that leaves you. They couldn't remember shit, but start playing songs from the 20/30/40's and suddenly they were all singing along.
I've been to stadiums full of crazies (me included) like that. What fun we had! The absolute best was an all day one at Dodger Stadium (Chavez Ravine) in 1976 with Elton John as the headliner.
DD, in that conversation with your friend was she telling you to get the hell outta Dodge?
CJ...I'm like you. I know alot of the artists but not all. My husband on the other hand was like DD. He could tell you the artist's name, their band name and it's members, the album title and the songs on the album. And it is true about music. Even towards the end, he could tell you all the facts. The only thing I was really jealous of was that he grew up with Janis Joplin and also Edgar and Johnnie Wynters. The Winters boys grew up in a huge WHITE brick house. I thought that was ironic! (I often wondered if Michael was putting me on about the house.)
Bayou ~ My Ex was the same way. Always knew the groups/ songs/ tracks. When he was in college, he even sat in playing drums with several groups when they came for concerts. That was rather strange b/c he wasn't a drummer, he played guitar. Me - I never remember any of the song titles. Just know what I like. Spent part of the afternoon clicking on Youtube, and Janis was one I was listening to. Dayum, she was good.
