Remember those mile long plumes of oil the BP says don't exist?

Now they admit they do exist, but, concentrations are "very low." Tell that to all the states and countries you've fouled, BP. Tell it to the Sea Turtles and the Pelicans. Tell it to the children picking up grease balls on Florida beaches. Liars. In the most chickenshit move yet, the BP claims this oil is "not consistent" with oil from the spill. In other words, it aint theirs. Are you kidding me?!?!??

i give china credit for the fact that if this happened there, the bp ceo would be in jail already.....he'd probably end up with the death penalty too....

True. Hey did you see Maggies comment on the garden ornament post? She found a page that tells how to make Easter Island heads. I thought of you.

Give BP the benefit of the doubt. The oil may not all be theirs. Has anyone seen Brandon Davis in the vicinity?

LMAO! Good one. If there's d list cleb pussy there, I'd make bet it's him.

BP is going to tyr to lie and weasel thier way out of as much as they can..but saw on tv that oil can be identified...even when in a plume or floating on the ocean, and the oil in question is being analyzed to determine the origin.

Don't criminals always lie when confronted with evidence of their crimes?

I'm from the Texas coast and we have had trouble with BP before. In 2005 a BP refinery blew up, killing 15 and injuring 150 more.BP was charged with criminal violation of Federal Enviormental laws, among other things. They had been repeatedly cited for safety violations before the explosion, and had not fixed them.

BP was later fined $87 million by OSHA for failing to implement required safety procedures even after the accident. Repeat offenders, BP continues to flagrantly disregard safety, with more loss of life. They are nothing less than negligent destroyers of life and the enviornment, putting $$$ before the lives of their workers, who are apparently considered expendable.

So what I want to know is why aren't people boycotting BP stations? At the very least it would send a message. How hard is it to drive a block and get gas somewhere else? And I know, I know, it's not the gas stations' employees' fault, much of the gas comes from Canada anyway, blah blah blah, but still, how can anyone WANT to look at that green flower while they are pumping gas?Fuck BP. I will never choose to stop there again.

Anonymous said...

BP is not in the retail business anymore. The gas stations are privately owned, so the oil company could not care less if you buy gas elsewhere.

Oil has the world by the nuts and the politicians are just too happy to get paid in exchange for favors.
We are all hostages in their little game.

I put this on my blog another way to help the gulf animals is to text "wildlife" to 20222.

A friend of mine pointed out to me that this is a national disaster yet no one is scrambling to help. He asked where all of the relief concerts, the international aid, etc. Why don't more people care about the destruction this is doing to our planet? Don't they see this how affecting life forms on every level? What can we do to help/isn't there something we can do?

I had no answers for him so I just quoted Miss Tia: Fuck BP.

It was probably a leisure boat whose oil tank leaked, yaaahhh, that's what happened, a boat w/a leaky oil tank. Effing idiots, I hate them. I can't watch when they show pics of pelicans, turtles, etc. unable to even move because they're so immersed in the oil. And they can't really fix it til AUG????

Casper,
It is BP's financial responsibility to clean this fucking mess up. Not Hollywood's $$, not your $$. The way they've been spending money on 'spin' and 'pr' while cutting 1 $5,000 check (thus far) to the fisherman, and those losing their livelihoods in the gulf. Fuck that. Make them pay until they go broke and out of business. Have the COO's of BP given up their salaries to help out? I wouldn't have bought BP gas in the 1st place (it's the worst for your engine, so I've heard), and I sure as hell wouldn't by it if I were stranded.
FUCK BP!

miss tia said...

i agree it is 100% bp's responsibility to pay but we've all seen and read that fucking smarmy CEO speaking....they are gonna try to get out of paying for anything they can....

celebs doing an event could bring a lot of awareness to what is happening....the apathy of people in this country is sickening....if oil isn't soaking their TV preventing them from watching american idol or some other dribble on tv, then they don't care....

This is so disturbing, check out the website. It gives you an idea of the scale applied to where you live. So sad.

I must drive past a BP Refinery
daily to and from work. I always have worried about this as this plant has had many, many OSHA fines
levied. BP does not give a rat's ass how much they pay out in fines.
I just hold my breath and hope I get past it safely. Seriously,
FUCK BP.

and sea life. Makes me sick.

Tam, while I agree the financial responsibility lies with BP (ha, play on words!), I respectfully disagree with getting famous names involved, Hollywood or otherwise - which I think was my friend's point. All the money in the world isn't going to make this go away. But some high profile names can go a long way in getting more aid there. And faster. Plus hopefully add some pressure on Washington to do more now and in the future to prevent this from happening again.

I had to stop watching the news for a while. I think I was giving myself an ulcer.
Every year there is a Tarpon Rodeo that is a really big event for the locals to make money. People come from all over. Since there obviously won't be one, the local musicians (anyone in south La.) are planning a super music festival.
For those of you who would like to hear really "up close and personal" stuff---go to wwl.com. It's a TV/radio site. The radio part is better because the TV part is scripted. The radio shows can get heated. Different stuff at different times, but it can be interesting. And the facts are really up to the second.
There's just so much to this you think you've heard it all and then something new comes out.
Miss Tia...it's good to know someone takes their job seriously! It is a big responsibility. I now quote you quite often during the day! Most often in traffic!!!

Mags - great link. It's scary as hell but it's great.

re: if it was my home - wow. I showed it to my son and he was very shocked. It literally puts that spill in perspective.

I was out of town to a wedding on the weekend. There was a BP exec there. He was smug and complacent like they know something we don't know. Lots of questions fired at him by guests. Lots of wry smiling and shrugs. It was maddening.

I am also astonished at the lack of interest about this national disaster, and yes, it is a disaster of epic proportions. Nothing will be safe to eat, shrimp, fish birds, etc., for 25 years!!! The economic impact that this will have on the people living on the Gulf is devastating. Why aren't people protesting? It seems like Obama should be doing a lot more than what is being done.

CJ said...

Mags ~ thanks for the link. Very disturbing info.

This is horrible and disgusting and sad. I never thought there would be an oil disaster that would make the Exxon Valdez disaster look like a pimple on a watermelon, and yet here it is.

I hate hearing about the poor animals caught up in this. Every time I see my grandma she tries to tell me about it and I just want to scream. I do not want to know about the poor, dying oil-covered birds she saw on the news...I just don't.

Fuck BP. They should be on their knees begging for forgiveness from the public.

Bayou Jane said...

There are more people involved than BP. They leased the rig. The rig was owned by a conglomerate (sp). A Japanese co. owned 25% and hasn't come forward. And I've never heard who the others are. I'd like to know who they are. Has anyone heard or read about who they are?

Anonymous said...

Bayou,

The rig belongs to Transocean.

BP will have unfunded liabiliies stemming from this just like tobacco did back in the day. Gas goes up because we have to adjust volume by buying more Saudi oil!.-

If we drilled in ANWR or at shallower depths we could have better damage control. I know oil sucks, but it's the lifeline of our fledgling economy.

Jarhead

PS- I agree with everything MissTia says here.

Unfortunately you are right, Jarhead. We are so fucking dependent on oil for everything. Even the recycled paper bags at the grocery store. We're doomed.
