They are also poisonous to animals.But they are so prickly, I don't see why an animal would want to bite on it.

Casper sent me these pics of a Sago Palm in her brother's yard. I found them fascinating and kept staring at them. It's just too perfect. Is that how the new fronds develop? Thanks, Casper.
