Amazing fashion...and the IN people

I'm not exactly rolling in high fashion here in Bumfark Iowa, but, through the Internet I can enjoy photos of what the lucky people get to see. I consider it art, as most people do. Valentino's Couture is always amazing and "caged bride" is brilliant, if a tad literal. As I was looking at all the fab pictures, THIS author, cough, kept insisting these were inspired by Twilight. Her (?) reasoning was, a lot of the dresses were short, and only young people like short and all young people love Twilight. While I was trying to digest that bit of rubish, I got to the bottom and found that photo of the hounds of Baskerville..Gwyneth Paltrow, Jessica Alba and Claire Danes. All wearing a ruffle. Someone didn't read their notes.

I'm not sure why, but, it cracked me up. I was actually laughing out loud. They look like the evil ugly step-sisters in Cinderella, or fashion zombies hankering for putrid orange flesh. Which will probably be the next movie they star in. Sometimes, don't you want to ask, who DO you think you are?

caged bride is clever. Those three women in silly ruffles. I think celebs put on the ugly stuff just to see if they can get away with it. Laughing all the way to the bank how they have made ugly stuff cool.

Only skinny ppl can wear ruffles and pull it off. You do see lots of ruffles in the stores, but I am surprised they all would pose together, knowing how copy-cattish they all look. Not very original are we??? Fashion shows are art shows, not be taken literally. Looks like fun and I am not clever so I think I admire anyone that can do that & make money at it!

OMG I forgot! I heard that Santino & Austin Scarlett are going to be on a new reality show! Gawd, who didn't love them on PR???? I really haven't watched it or enjoyed it much since those days! cannot wait to see what fabulousness they get into together.

Thanks for the Valentino link, DD!
Beautiful clothing, as always - did you ever watch "Valentino, the Last Emperor"? Really interesting dvd - a window into the genius of design. I think they showed it on the Sundance Channel also.

As for "Twilight" sparking the new direction in haute couture - the only fashion line that reflects the movie is Old Navy. Including the sneakers.

Rox - thanks for the heads-up for a new show with Santino (HATE him!) and Austin S. (LOVE him!). I can't even picture the two of them tolerating each other for two minutes. Could be a good show!

Cynthia, c'mon!!! Santino is great! When he does his Tim Gunn impression it makes me laugh so much, its spot-on! How can you NOT love him? I know he was kind of an a**hole but most people that create are. I imagine it's frustrating to have a vision and nobody around you "gets it". Austin was fun and very tidy, kind of Santino's exact opposit. Yes, they are the Ying & Yang of PR! Should be a really great show!!

As a big, beautiful woman, I have worn ruffles and I must say I think I looked very good! And my Mama thought so too. I was 6 months old and the ruffles were across my bottom! I was quite in style!!!

Cynthia, I haven't seen that. I wonder if it's on the net?

Oh brother, look at those fashion victims, Jessica Alba looks like she's going to a costume party dressed as a Spanish dancer and Gwynnie Paltrow has the worst posture of anyone ever. As for Claire Danes, why in the world did she did an invitation to this? Her whole career has been nothing but box office bombs. I can't believe anyone would want her to show off their clothes!

I ordered it in my Netflix Q, Pat. It's also available now as part of my On Demand cable package. And is was on the Sundance channel movie, but I don't know if it's available in a free format.

It was 90 minutes of genius, ego, over-board wealth, pugs and tantrums all rolled up together.

Oh, and stick-thin, tall, vacant-eyed half naked models hoofing around. And ass-kissing. Lots of ass-kissing.

I love Valentino, and Marchesa. Always beautiful clothes, though when I was in merchandising school, I loved Geoffrey Beane.
The fashion models all look like they have unamused young gay man heads. Interesting looks though.
I love ruffles, but it's been a few years since I wore them. Had them on lots of dresses when I was in high school. It was a good look for me.
As a baby, I wore those pants, too, Bayou Jane. My mom said they were called rhumba pants. I couldn't rock that look anymore.
Out of the three celebutards, I think that Gwenneth and Jessica look retro in a boring way, and Claire Danes dress is kind of pretty in a rainbow sherbet way. If I had to wear one, that would be my choice. Not that anyone will ever ask me, of course.
