The lengths the BP has gone to in order to try and cover their ass is beyond imagination. They lie and even create fake journalists to try and minimize our perception of the damage they have inflicted on our world. But, this is just insulting..
HERE is a film showing how they dumped sand on a Louisiana beach to cover the oil. How stupid do they think we are? Why don't they CLEAN IT UP?

My question is, why is our government allowing BP to continue lying like this? This is a foreign company, they obviously don't give too much of a shit. We need to hire our own hazmat guys. people who care and who will get the job done.
If I were Pres. Obama, this disaster would be my top priority. It seems like he put this on the back burner. Why?
Honestly, I've never been sure about Obama, and I'm still not. I voted for him because I thought he was better than the alternative. I'm not sure if he is getting bad info, or if he is granting political favors, or what we are missing in this picture. Something smells fishy to me. It seems like a very slow and measured response to something that should have generated immediate attention.
For some reason, I feel as though BP doesn't really care about whether their response is slow, or inadequate, or whatnot.
Lawyers, politicians, accountants and political advisers outnumber clean up crews. With that many ass holes in one place you are bound to be surrounded by crap.
Oil still flows. That alone is ridiculous. BP took many shortcuts and they greased their way past fines and penalties. Set an example.

Amen to what Jarhead said.
I snagged that to my FB wall DD. I think everyone I know would like to see that. Thanks for the info. I am at work, so I have internet here but not at home....still. Day #10! No cable, so no TV. Whats happening with hurricane Alex? I guess I will check it out online. I really miss my news! At work I dont have much time to keep up with it. This action/anti-action by BP is despicable. I think we should put all the oily sand on barges and haul that sh** to Britains beaches & dump it. They can have it. We dont want nor can we use it anymore. Please do NOT buy gas at a BP station. Everytime I go past one & see a car there getting gas I want to yell out the window at them. It makes me sick. They will never get a dime from me again.

All of a sudden in my area, all the old BP stations are changing their signs to Gulf. Never bought BP or Gulf gas and they aren't fooling most people by switching. Obviously there is a relationship there. Who is the parent and who is the child I don't know.
MuserMommy ~
BP owns ARCO, AM/PM. In the wikipedia article ... BP (and others) has had it's hand in Gulf or parts of it for many years. It gets very convoluted, but an interesting read.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gulf_Oil
Please, don't let knee-jerk reactions to this mess ruin more lives. Many gas stations, including those sporting the BP sign, are locally owned. Yes, these people have contracts with BP but they did not cause the damage. You are not hurting BP by boycotting them, you are hurting families who live in your own community.
Anon ~ Unfortunately that is a 'catch 22' situation. Yes the stations are locally owned. Don't stop there and you are hurting the local. But, the local station is buying BP gas and filling their coffers. If the locals are able to cancel their BP contracts and go with a new supplier (and change the signs) - problem solved.
FUCK BP!!!
the bp stations around me are suffering and there is nothing that could compel me to get gas there....don't care if it's hurting local peoples....shall not contribute to bp and their fuckery....there's plenty of local people hurting in the gulf.....
Thanks CJ. I knew that there was a relationship but hadn't researched it.
As far as not hurting the local folks, I haven't changed my gas habits for years. I go to the same gas station locally and when we travel I usually end up with what is available. The reality as CJ pointed out is that the local owners need to change who they do business with (if possible within contract limitations). It's a free market economy and no matter what there are people who will go somewhere else. Change or be left behind.
and i think the 'oh if you boycott bp stations you hurt local people' is being perpetuated by bp corporate....bp does NOT give a fuck about the gulf, about local peoples, about nuttin' but their billions....
I still want to know where the oil/ sand filled bags are being dumped. Where's the landfill? How much more of our enviroment is being fucked up?
I wouldn't want to be associated with them on a business or personal level. I would just change suppliers, when my contract was up. BP is gonna stick it to 'em anyways. They gotta recover the lost money somehow, so they will overcharge their franchisees. So, if we boycott BP maybe those business people will get the message & change who they are associated with. They are criminal liars and think they are actually helping the gulf people by supplying them with jobs. Jobs that will cause most of them severe health problems the rest of their lives 'cuz they know those poor people need to work so they will work them & poison them at the same time. Like they care! I hate BP. The blow. & more than just oil!!
Rox
Good point CJ. Where is that filth being dumped? Hopefully on BP's headquarters steps!
I pass BP headquarters on a regular basis and I can assure you that the "crud" is not being dumped on their property. They have expanded and added more parking lots for the folks who are using that as a base to work the crisis. LA State Police has a Homeland Security Command Center outside the BP entrance to their main building---lots of activity!
The ER in our local small hospital has had MANY cases of lung and skin irritation to show up. And we are not the closest hospitals to the spill. So I'm sure there are many hospitals close to the spill that are getting many cases.
And who knows what the long term effects will be.
As bad as my son needs a job, I'm glad he didn't stay out. Since he doesn't have insurance, it would have ended up costing more than the money he would have made. And not to mention the permanent damage it might have caused.
What I hate about the whole thing is we have been told so many stories about what is or is not being done, we have no idea who to believe. We really need a roster to follow the players. This is an election year and it turns out that our local representative has either gone nuts or his opponent is doing a mighty good job of mud slinging. So you can see there is a very large game of "Lies, Lies, Who Tells the Lies" going on. It might be that you guys are getting a clearer picture than we are. The lies about the gulf and the lies told during election times are to much. My brain has turned to jelly!
Who was the dude that would walk around with the lantern looking for truth/one honest man?
Anon 3:04...are you talking about the Houma office?
For many of these station owners, getting out of their contracts is not a viable solution. I know someone who owns an Exxon station and those contracts are loooong term - 10+ years. If my local station was a BP and I had done business with them for years, I wouldn't hold them accountable and make them suffer for someone else's f-up.
Besides, BP does not own or run the oil rig that blew-up. It is owned and operated by Transocean. BP basically subcontracts Transocean to build the rigs and drill for the oil just like almost every major oil company. Shouldn't Transocean also be held accountable since it was their rig that blew under their operation?
Did anyone watch Larry King last night. He had those Whale Wars guys on and they talked about how BP won't let them go there to help rescue some of the dying animals. They also mentioned how BP have been burning the dead dolphins and other animals at night to cover it up. ugh.
Bayou!!
Diogenes of Sinope!. Walked around naked with a lantern!-
Alexander the Great said that if he was not Alexander; he would have liked to be Diogenes. around318 b.c.
He also said that in a rich man's house the only proper place to spit is in his face. When I see some of the excessive crap in some houses I can see his point. All arrogance and hubris.
Jarhead
Too bad Larry Kings ratings are in the toilet! Or more people would have seen that. I watch if I had TV, but still dont. No cable , no TV. 10 days. Today DirectTV is installing our new system! yay & way cheaper than Comcast. Comcast is supposed to be there today too to fix the internet, but they probably wont even call, much less show up. They told us 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. to be available for the tech to come. Really? I hate Comcast. Gawd, I bitchend them out again last night and I told the gal I know its not her fault and I bet she's been hearing it all the time and all she said was "yes". But if I have DirectTV when I go home tonight I can watch old movies on Turner classic movies. So, cable was around $100+ each month w/internet, it varied, we never knew what we would owe. Direct Tv has a set rate & its about a 4th of what we used to pay! & free HD boxes and installation. So GO DirectTV. Dont disappoint me! BP sucks. I have said enought oday. Sorry guys. I love you and have a good weekend.
xoxoxo
BP sucks, end of story. The gas stations made a deal with the devil, they have to suck it up now, no pity from me. Don't give me that "local owner" line to manipulate the masses. Fuck them if they didn't choose their provider carefully.
I just hate the way we have become so dependent in crude. There's no escaping it...even the recycled paper grocery bag is affected. I hate this. So much.
DD I've been in lurking mode lately reading from my google reader subscription, but I'm glad to see you're doing better:)
Kiki, I'm so sorry all the events going on in your neck of the woods are upsetting you...I hope we can get that joyful heart of yours to get better again :) Love you both!
Kiki~ just saw on the news my Brig is visiting you for the Toronto Waterfront Festival. If you go, take pictures ... please ;)
Guess who's back...and possibly going to jail again?

You'll be 'interested' to know there was a report on the news tonite, where in AL, they found long stretches of shoreline, that had a 'different' type of sand, hauled in, and have covered up the oil washup. It showed it, and it was like looking at a 'sandwich' w/sand as the bread, and the reporter said the oil spill that's been covered (you can see the edges of it) have hardened into what feels like, tar.

Let the BP big wigs sleep out there, so they can see what it's like sleeping and living in a gas station. Can you imagine the fumes?
I have been wondering why Transocean hasn't been held accountable. The only thing I can think of is there is a clause in their contract putting all responsibility on the leaser. Other than that, I have no idea. Their name hasn't been mention since the first few days of the accident.
Thanks Jar...I can remember the stories but I can never remember the names. I'm like that about people to. It's not a good trait in a teacher!
CJ I went there today ! I've been scanning my
photos for a pix of the brig for you. I emailed
a couple of the pix to DD. I'm guessing that I
got your Flagship. I hope it's it. The one photo
has the masts unfurled and you can see the
C N Tower in skyhigh shot. Downtown is very
busy this weekend we have the WFF and Pride
functions going on all weekend. It's not exactly
back to normal yet but way better than last
weekends showdown at the summit. At least
we are not fenced in anymore and there is a
lovely cool fresh breeze on the lake tonight.
Meissa thank you I feel better today.
So what is everyone doing for the fourth ?
Kiki :)
Jane careful what you wish for.
I have an eidetic memory. My brain is full !
LoL
:-))
Kiki
DD I'm glad your back. I sent you a few things.
1-cj brig pix of tall ship waterfront festival.
2- me last week with the drawing please crop it.
3- a sad lil gulf sea turtle drawing
4- HI trip excursion to a coffee plantation
( these were sent a while back when your
Isp was out )
I will look for the Sunday personal posts.
I'm glad your feeling better and are back
to posting. Thanks DD ;)
-Kiki :)
ps Enrique I'm still waiting for your pix/ email.
Did you get your decommision date yet ?
BP stands for and will forever be associated with
- Bad Publicity ! Shame on their coverup attempt.
They lack clarity and are as murky to read as the
oil that theyve unleashed into the gulf water.
I have no respect for them whatsoever. - Kiki :/
Kiki, I know of an event in YYZ that will make you feel better!! You should go to the Toronto Burlesque Festival! July 21-24, and our local Miss Indigo Blue Tassel Twirling Extraordinaire will be performing there!!! It's sure gonna be a fun event. You should check it out. I love burlesque.
Meissa...I never thought of Toronto as being such a wild place.
It's sounds like a great vaca place. There's definitely a lot going on there!
Some of you have asked where all the oil clean-up is going. Get ready to be really pissed off!
Notice that it says the debree has not been classified as hazardous!

Thanks DD for this Post. And Jane, your local news links are needed to be seen. Without these and CNN still covering this Catastrophe folks would forget about what is continuing to happen.
Bayou Jane ~ I can't get the article. Says... not found! Do you have another link or the headline for the article and I'll do a search for it.
Kiki ~ Aren't the Tall Ships wonderful to watch? We haven't had a sail-in for years, but they're coming in mid September. Can't wait to see the ships.
The festival should help to get Toronto back to normal after the G20. Last September my Pittsburgh cousins were telling me about their G20. Entire downtown was shut down. Everyone worked from home or took vacation. No one could get in or out.
CJ...sorry the whole site didn't show up.

20100624/FEATURES12/100629717
Hope you can get it. I had to try more than once.
Bayou ~ Thanks, that one worked.
Loved the line "They're probably isolated situations, but we are still early in the process with all this work." ... Right!
It is as I thought. Taking it from your shoreline and dumping it inland. I wouldn't want to live in the general area of those landfills. Six months from now those folks will be told that their drinking water is contaminated. Gawd, what a mess. Still think they should bag it all up, ship it to England and dump it in Tony Hayward's front yard.
This whole catastrophe and the way it's being mis/handled is confusing and infuriating.
Cj yes it was nice to be able to get out
yesterday. The ships are only here until
sun then they sail on continuing the tour to
other ports. I sent dd some snaps for you.
Jane it is a wild place sometimes ! LoL ;)
And now BP is in talks with some Middle Eastern countries to become partners with. They feel their stocks have already dropped enough and they want help.
God Help Us!!
Happy 4th!
