Lissa found those concrete books Jennifer sent me (thank you again, Jen,) and she went crazy for them. She thinks they're better than story books because she's all about projects. She read every page of both books over and over. She was so excited I agreed to do a project with her even though it was so hot out. We waited until evening and she looked at the books and picked projects that took someone 20 years and were 200,000 pounds. When I told her to stop it, she said, "But, you told me girls can do anything!" I was like, omg, stop it. Finally we agreed she could make a bird bath for her mom's birthday. We used an over sized old enamel ware dish pan for a mold. I was surprised at how much of it she could do herself. Turns out working with concrete with children is a really good idea. I recommend you try it if you're interested. Just make sure they wear gloves.

We'll make a matching base next time she comes, but, she's off to KC to stay with Aunt Casey for a week. She's sooooooo excited. They're going to Oceans Of Fun.

Can't wait to see the finished product. And I know she and Casey will have a great time.
What project have you picked from the books?
Cool project for you and Lissa. You've got a creative little kid there!
Sounds neet DD. That pix looks like a

Bayou, I just needed the "how to's", now that I know various techniques, I can go to town. It will probably be human form since that's what I do best.
Kiki, it was a pie and then a pizza and then she said she was octomom only she had 20 kids and the marbles were kids. She dropped them in the pool because "that's too many kids, they drive me crazy!" Imagination, huu?
I once had a creative 5 y.o. in my house. Then she grew up, got her BFA, loves her work and makes lots o money at the jobs. Look out world, here comes Lissa.
Money is good. LOL.
Especially when you can do something you like and still get paid!
Yeah, kid was/ is very creative. Amazes me all the time. I have an appreciation for art and can draw a straight line.
I like it all the marbles are her kids :) -kiki
I love it and now I must go to the store and buy some cement. but first I must go to used book store and get some reading done.
She did good!
The project looks great!! I love the marbles in there, and Lissa's comments are too funny! What a creative little one.
I think I'd like to do some of the Easter Island (are they Moa's??) I don't remember the name, for my flower beds. I think those would be interesting.
Pat, that looks great!
Hope you two had a blast doing that. My granddaughter is all about the projects too.
Neat how you incorperated Lissa's marbles (kids, lol). She's such a hoot!!
"But you told me girls could do anything!".
That's right, Lissa! And you have and will prove it over and over again, I have no doubt about that!!
This looks so neat! I can't wait to see the finished project!!! She sure is lucky to have such a cool grandma!

The instructions for this are like slab pressed ceramics. You just mix the cement with sand, until it's crumbly, not sloshy. Then you press it inside the mold.. (cover with plastic first or use a release agent like Vaseline) You can use anything you like for a mold. Plastic, a garbage can lid, a dish pan..whatever you have. Then stick the marbles in it. It dried in the rain and was fine.
