Look at these two handsome young men, Andy with his friend Chris at Baccalaureate. Congrats to both of you and Christina you must be proud. They do look like they're anticipating a party later though. I hope so.
Thanks, everyone! He is a good kid (I made him return cans and bottles on his day off---today---and he brought me back a Starbucks). I love my son. He is a lesson in patience and biding my time, for me. I always want to hurry up and get more done, and want others around me to do the same, but, with Andy, things are on his time schedule. There is no changing it. I tried, ever since he turned 15, to get him to go for his driving permit. I had it all figured out. He could get his driver's license at 16, and could drive himself to school for the next year. It would have been so much easier for us not to have to drive him every day, or figure out alternative transportation, but he was like a mule, digging his heels in. Eventually I gave up the idea, and just went with the flow. Suddenly, at the end of January, he decided he was ready. He got his permit, on January 27th, and then got his license a few days before school was out at the start of June. He has been driving, and driving well, ever since. Not timid, not aggressive, just confident and well. But he had to do it in his own time. I am learning the benefit of patience, and biding my time, but, I needed my son to help teach me. I love my son.
