A family had this designed for them, and they live in it with two small children. When I saw the outside I thought it was pretty cool, even though it's a snail shell. Shells are pretty, but, anything that lives inside a shell is disgusting. You know I'm right. Then I saw the inside and said "Oh, hell no." Plants for a floor? How do you water those? I know what lives in my lawn and I don't want that inside. The shower is scary. All showers are a little scary, but that faucett..well. HERE are the pics. And I looked and looked and can't find a pic of the kitchen. I wonder what the kitchen looks like. Could you live in this?

No way in hell!
Although it would be interesting to see it in person.
You can shit pretty much anywhere you want in that place. I vote awesome.
I couldn't live in it, but I do think it's cool.
You may have seen these pictures already, but this site had some more of the house.

Welcome to Wonderland, Alice...

DD,
I think you'll appreciate my friend's bathroom. Her entire home is a work of art, but this room is especially breathtaking

No. I would not want to live there, it is downright creepy. What is so natural about living in a giant fake snail shell? And how would the living floor live unless they have a lot more light than that coming in?
A couple of years ago I brought a small branch that had fallen from my neighbor's oak into my kitchen, and put it on the garden window sill, because I thought that it was beautiful. All the different lichen and moss made it really interesting. Over the course of the next day or so, over fifty different small to tiny critters crawled off that branch segment and died. I can only imagine the millions living in that "natural" floor. Nope. You won't find that in my home.
I would love to have a big stained-glass window like that, though. That is truly beautiful.
Cool looking from the Outside. But, if I want to be one with nature, I'll throw a tarp over a tree limb then plop my lawn chair and sleeping bag on the grass. Welcome to the wonderful world of flora and fauna ;)
I'd rather have myself a Frank Lloyd Wright house. Move into Falling Water in a heart beat.
oooh, it's beautiful! i would live there. it would be like a gift. and my kitties would love it too! ^_^
It is really beautiful, especially the stained glass...but not exactly a homey home. Too sterile. Kind of an Alice in Wonderland type of theme. I wonder where the children play?
its amazing but its very artsy. A little to trippy for my taste.
That drop off from the couch is nice for kids. Yikes. And where the hell is the TV? Do you suppose they "talk" instead? Barf.
In the link I posted Pat, you can see a tv in the middle of the room. It's rather small though.

A snail shell, huh? When I saw it I thought it was supposed to be a bulb of garlic!
It is cool from the outside. But I don't see why they couldn't have decorated it normally inside.
Soooo....does the sprinkler system come on at night in the living room? LOL
The kids would love that!!
Aw what DD, you mean you're not going to whip out the concrete & build yourself one, lol! It's neat to look at, but I think living in it would drive me up the wall. I think this is one of those things that sounds better on paper. Don't think I'd want a floor I need to water. Love the stained glass.
@Anon 2:21:00 PM, your friend's bathroom is stunning!
@CJ, I agree, Falling Water is a gorgeous place.
anon 2:21...
holy shit!! how long did that bathroom take to tile???? that whole house is AWESOME!!! especially the pencils in the stairwell!!!
I'd live there as long as there were some way to keep it bug-free. I might have to ask them to put down hardwood floors since I like to be barefoot indoors. It doesn't look very child friendly, but whatever...
Not much light. I would not like it anyways, I am a Shabby Chic kinda gal. The real grass for carpet, NO! The bathroom has too much glass in there that can be dangerous if you fall. I think of stuff like that. Its a very cold, unwelcoming place. It looks like a show house at Disney Epcot or a place celebs rent for partis. Not a place to call hom. Nope. I dont like it. But I'd go to a party there!

miss tia,
It took over 5 years to finish that bathroom! I love that it's the work of several artists.
Isn't the pencil stairway fab? You should check out Jason Mercier's other work. I've always wanted one of his portraits, but can't afford it now that he's big time, lol!
This is one of my favorites:
