Thanks to Frimmy for sending me that pic. It says it all. What's going on in your life today?

Not much here today. I'm about to go have my annual eye exam. I had corrective surgery a couple of years ago and have to go back annually to make sure everything is good. I was legally blind and I'm now better than 20/20. I absolutely love it! It's amazing not to reach for glasses first thing in the morning or fumble putting contacts in.
not as muggy today.....have to run an errand or two, then gonna do some housework....
just been BLAH lately....
oh, i sent a letter to CSB to tell 'em how dismayed i am by their inaction on that woman who yells/hits her kids....if you're on my facebook, i posted it there....
I had corrective eye surgery too. Twice! It was so worth it. I love waking up in the morning being able to see clearly and not hassle with contacts every day. I just hope my eyeballs don't shrivel up and fall out 20 years from now.
i have an astigmatism and my eye dr. said i shouldn't do that surgery but even if he didn't say that it just frightens me!!! i figured i'd be the 1 in a million who'd have botched surgery...
my greatest fear is going blind....i can't tell y'all how disturbing that one twilight zone is to me where the guy just wants to read, there's a nuclear blast that wipes out everyone but he survives and picks out all the books he wants to read and then his glasses break!!! oh that just resonates with me!
I'm still feeling shitty but not as shitty as I was 2 days ago. I guess that's an improvement. I broke down and took the prednisone. That's seems to be the magic bullet in fighting this crap.
My grass is getting tall and I have harvesting to do but the humidity is so high I'm gasping for air outside. It's going to have to wait. Hopefully I can just run out and snip a couple cucumbers without passing out.
I had an astigmatism also but the doctor approved me for the surgery. I got the one called PRK because of the astigmatism. They don't slice a flap of skin but scrape it off instead and it's more painful than the regular lasik. ugh..but at least I got some percocet afterward! lol I had to get it done a second time because the first time didn't take too well. It was free for the touch up and now I see 20/20.
I'm seriously wanting breast reduction surgery. I try not to say bad things about them, breast cancer runs in my family, but have mercy....toting them around is a chore unto itself!
Tia that twilight zone eps reminds me of my mom. She would lose it if she wouldn't be able to read. The woman goes through 2 books in 2 days.
Whats going on with me.. Well i'm so ready to get the show on the road and its this over with. The little one has been pushing down so hard. Its so painful at times to even walk down the hall. My other child has been a normal 2 year old. Who never ever stops for one min. Who interesting enough entertains herself and her grandparents but not at our house. I swear we have some entity in her room. She will not go in without someone first. It is a little bit colder in her room. I should take pictures. Other than that her father is no BIG HELP. He has been telling me he is to tired after work and sick to take care of her. He did the same thing before my first was born. The dr said its in your head son.
Nice day weather wise. We had big rain yesterday and the garden is thankful for it.
Hubs had head CT and it is all clear. He is still sick though so we are back to the drawing board.
Chelsea just told me she is getting sick of tomatoes!! We have so many and we even give away. I love tomato sandwiches. Mmmm! I have not and will not do anything today. I declared it lazy day for me! No cooking or cleaning or fetching or hoeing. Nothing. Except have conversations, hang on the computer, and read a book.
Going out to eat with on old friend from Oregon! Lots of laughs and good times..... my mammogram and breast ultrasound both came back clear today!! YEAH!! Now I can sleep again!
made pico de gallo in an effort to snack a bit more healthy. I then touched my nose lips and face after handling jalapenos. I had butter schmeared on my face all day to kill the burn. It worked. The jalapenos also burned the tips of my fingers and they hurt still 2 days later. The pico is good!
@ Daphne, I feel ya! I never hated mine until I saw a recent picture of my and OMG they are like huge skin cannons and I wish they would go away! (38F in case you were wondering)
It's an okay day here. Beautiful weather. Sunny, but only in the 70's. The cheap tomato plants are thriving, though I think it will be awhile before I have any tomatoes on. Twiggy, my Welsummer bird is doing better. We brought her inside and gave her a warm bath last night, in an effort to loosen those muscles. George blow-dried her feathers afterwards, and then she ate a decent meal of scrambled egg, nonfat organic yogurt, and raisins. She is looking a little better again today, so we'll see how it goes. I have to work tomorrow, and I have started dreading that today. It's not that my job is that bad, it's just that for a long time now, I have felt as if nothing I do makes any difference, so why work? My husband is working for the second day in a row---woo hoo! I hope it takes, this time. Met Life is up to their old tricks. George called them today. For several weeks now he has been submitting paperwork to them, then having paperwork sent from all of the doctors' offices, etc. Yesterday they sent him a letter that said they needed a separate medical information release form before they could do anything, and today they said they are still reviewing the claim. It has been about two months. How are people supposed to live this way? I hate being stuck like this. Heidi, I love the idea of the total day off. That's the way it is supposed to be for us---a day of rest, but it often ends up being a day of work around the house. I've decided I'm going to have a garage/yard sale this weekend. Maybe Saturday only, since it's supposed to be in the low to mid 80's. We have far to much stuff clogging our home, and it is impacting our lives, so finally, time to get rid of it. I've made the decision that I'm going to give whatever doesn't sell to Goodwill. I'm so tired of having the closets and everything else full. Time to lead a better, less cluttered, life!
I couldn't tolerate contact lenses. Apparently I don't blink enough. So I had corrective eye surgery almost 10 years ago and I love it. It's nothing short of miraculous hearing the nurse count down the time and watching as that fuzzy red light turns into a precise little dot in perfect focus. Then they sit you up and you can see what time it is on the wall clock you couldn't even distinguish 5 minutes before. Seriously miraculous. I don't miss 30 years of wearing glasses. I don't even like wearing sun glasses.
I have dry eyes, and occasionally wear contacts for dry eyes. I really can't consistently wear them at work as the air is too dry and they fog and get scratchy. I wear glasses most of the time, and am just contemplating getting another pair which, of course, are very expensive, and our insurance benefits just took a nosedive. I've thought, on occasion, about having the eye surgery to correct my vision, but I think the type I would need is just coming available. I would need correction for distance, as well as close-up. In the past, vision correction for distance, would, over time, worsen close vision, and after about 45 vision generally declines. My contacts are bifocal, and my glasses have blended lenses, so many focal points. I have also heard that there is difficulty with night vision post surgery. Has anyone had any trouble with any of these things? I know of at least three people in my work place that have had such surgeries, and they all have had problems.
Miss Tia, I also had an astigmatism, but was still able to have the surgery. I had thyroid problems in my early twenties so I was not a candidate for lasik. I had to have epi-lasik. It's similar to the procedure Anon 4:37 spoke about. They were afraid if they cut my cornea, my thyroid problems would flare back up so they scraped the cornea. I never felt a thing!
Christina, the only problem I've had is dry eyes and that usually occurs when I sleep with the fan on at night.
The doctor I went to was very thorough and put me through a lot of tests before they would approve me as a candidate. I remember the fear of something happening and then being left blind. He was very honest with me and told me that as I got older, I would probably need reading glasses one day. He said that was something you just couldn't do anything about, it happens with age. They have a procedure for that now, but after having one surgery and being lucky, I don't know if I would chance another.
ooo....i would still be way too scared to get it done! i would not want to risk my site!!! i have a pretty bad astigmatism.....i'll just be happy i can see with contacts and/or glasses! :)
Warm out there today. I really do not want to take a walk at all..LOL
I think I will just water the plants on the front porch and think of something good to cook on the grill tonite.
Oh, I have not mentioned Hubs being sick on FB because his family is on FB. He does not want to worry them if it is not serious. Plus they will jump my ass if they think I kept any news from them. My allegiance is to him..not them.
I found out that many people are admiring my corn! ROFL I was at the community garden (got a little burn on my nose) and the master gardener was there. He asked how I fertilized the corn, I told him, and we both laughed. I said with the help of YouTube and my friend from Iowa..I am growing some mean corn. I need to take another picture.
Did you read the story about the Nigerian couple in London who had a blonde haired blue eyed baby? Here is article and video from NY Post.
Well now I know who's hogging all the breast tissue...it's DD's readers!
I've been trying find an affordable studio apartment for my daughter to live in while she finishes university. She's busy with summer classes and as many job shifts as she can fit in, plus she walks/buses everywhere so she has little time for apt hunting. I'm renovating a condo I bought for myself - so everything is to my taste, ie: frugal and diy. It's taking forever. Trying to get a tan without burning, but so far I'm mostly white and pink. I'm enjoying this summer more than I've enjoyed one in at least a decade and want to go hiking like I did when the kids were little - miss that a lot. Pat, thanks for the book recommendations, maybe I'll find them in a used bookstore (we have lots of great ones in my city) cheers, nattie
As you all know, my daughters are Buddhists (Chelsea is full fledged, Natalie has not decided yet if she is going to join but she practices). They are going to a 80 yr anniversary celebration in Philly this weekend. Nat is a performer (chorus) so she gets to go fri, sat, and sun. Sunday is the celebration day (the other are rehearsals). Ugh! This thing is all about the Buddhist youth. They want to have like 10k attending. So people needed to be invited. Chelsea got 4 people to go. 3 teens from her job, and her friend. (without asking me first) She invited them all to stay HERE Saturday night. Because they all have to meet at Chelsea`s job (which is like right over there) at 5am. So it would be just easier for everybody. Ummmm! Really? I am going to have 3 teens I do not know in my house..I know her 21 yr old friend from way back. FUCK! that slumber party shit was done and over with when Natalie was a sophomore! Can I come to your house?
*side note: I could bitch and witch and say NO NO NO! but then a couple of these kids would have to walk thru our city at 3am..so it is gonna happen.*
heidi! I am your friend on FB! I thot you were in your 20's? You look like it! How can you have kids in their 20's? Why do I think that? LOL! Well, since I have size 36B boobs and my eyes are fine. I guess I will stop for now. I really have zero to contribute to this conversation. TTL xoxo Roxanne
So.... My phone is no longer with us. They said they couldn't save it and would have to send me a new one. It should be in today sometime and I will be able to get those pic of Alissa to you then mom.
