The Queen recycles her favorite gown..again

The birds of paradise were removed and Swarovski crystal maple leaves were added because she's in Canada. I posted that dress the last time she recycled it (and the shoes). It's her favorite gown. I can't believe Brit's are bitching about paying a couple of dollars a year to support their monarchy. Yeah, it ads up to a lot, but, she's your Queen! She's a dignified, frugal, classy old broad and I wish we had her. We don't have a monarchy, we have Paris Hilton. You wanna trade?

Good on her!

Agreed. I love royalty, especially her.

When I was little my fam (and now my hubby) always joked that I am next in line - one of my nicknames has always been Queen Elizabeth III, and I can't say I don't enjoy it :)

P.S. Was waiting for an open post, but I'll just put it here ---

Still pregnant, only @ 1 cm this morning. If I don't move this along naturally then I'm scheduled to be induced on Friday.

Still don't have the new truck, it's been in the shop for 11 days. Have fought with everyone possible, dealer & finance company - the deal is done and I'm tied to it. The car can't be officially declared a lemon yet, there are steps you have to go through first. Right now it's just considered in need of extensive repairs. Supposedly the majority are covered under warranty. Ideally when we get it back, everything will be fine and the car will be in great shape. I just hope that that is the case.

Just wanted to update ya'll. Hope everyone's doing well and staying out of the heat - going to be around 100 here the next 4 days.

You're right, America needs more useless old hags. Joan Rivers and Maureen Dowd aren't enough.

@biz, that is fucking ridiculous!!! i would fucking call the press and expose that dealer!!!

love the Queen!!! and what the naysayers in the UK don't realize is that her 'civil list' funds come from an agreement george III, i believe, signed where he signed off the income from the crown estates to the government and then got an allowance in return for that....the crown estates brings in hundreds of millions to the government every year....

queen elizabeth is awesome....

She looks great in that white gown ! Btw
she just her goodbyes and is off to NYC.
She's careful with money and I'm sure that
her dress didn't come off the rack at walmart.
I'm glad she redid it I like the sparkly update
better than the bird of paradise version. - Kiki

DD I resent the turtle sketch on Sunday.
Did you get it yet ? -Kiki :)

Long Live the Queen! She has met every President since Eisenhower.and is head of nation for 16 U.N. countries. Untouched by scandal herself, she has never faltered in what she has perceived as her duty, even in the face of family and national upheaval and embarrassments.

I am not an admirer of the stifling British style class system, but the Queen is an admirable woman who has ruled with style and grace for 53 years. Amazing!

Well, I'm Canadian and since we're technically still in the commomwealth, the Queen supposedly "belongs" to us as well, and I will be the first to say I think she's an old cow and her visits are a waste of money. Every time she comes here it costs us a shitload of money just so she can walk around with a miserable look on her face, visit some monuments, talk to our (stupid) prime minister, and then leave. Meanwhile we have to hear about her on the news every single day. Yesterday they reported that she dug up one clump of dirt to plant a flower in a park. The media was losing their shit over this. Wow, I'm so impressed.

She's one of the richest women in the world and we get stuck with the bill for all this. I wish she'd stay home. You Americans are not missing anything. I promise.

@Biz, hope all goes well for you & the baby.

I like the Queen, can't stand son Charlie or his pit-bull or whatever they're calling her now. Don't care much for her racist husband either. Liked the Queen Mum. There's a recession on so not surprising she's done this. Didn't her mother do something similar during the war? To show that their family was being frugal & conscious of their country's condition.

@Alison, the stupid prime minister LOL! I couldn't agree more. I also agree we shouldn't be getting stuck with the bill.

Oh no way, I don't want Paris Hilton.

I'm Canadian as well and I am more than willing to pay the 50 cents a year it costs me for the royals.

My sister went to Queen's park today and was thisclose to her. I will post some pics on the facebook page for you Miss Tia and will e-mail them to you DD.

The Queen's dress looks a lot better with the crystals on it... but I'm thinking someone had to hand sew every single crystal. Might have been cheaper to buy a new dress. She is recycling the shoes tho.
What the heck, she's still a cool old broad, hope she outlives her son.

Oh, yes. During the war the royal family turned their country home, (OK, it was a palace) into a hospital for the injured and soldiers, and their beautiful grounds into vegetable gardens to feed them. They blacked out their windows at night like the rest of the country, no royal parties or balls. The queen was a young teenager then, but she worked and helped the nurses just like anyone else. She is still working hard.

The Brits who went through that war are old now, but the stories they tell of their resiliance and resistance and how they just took it all in stride...they were and are an amazing generation.

Alison I'm sorry u don't care much for her visits.
But I still love her and one thing I find very real
about her is how she doesnot have any
Botox or bs done to her face. You almost forget
what a woman should look like as she ages.
All the facelifts in north America. It's an epidemic.
I think she is still a beautiful woman who has
persevered through a life of duty. 58 years and
7 months and counting. ........ I too hope she
outlives her son. She's great at the helm and
I wish her & Philip many more years together.
They've been married for 63 years already !
Kiki :)
