Whut????

Like most people, I'm wondering why the BP is funnelling more oil to the the surface to be "collected?" I don't understand all of it, I'm not an expert, they are! Why can't they cap it and stop it???? Uhh, because it's a volcano. Whut? I know. Read HERE. They were warned and had no business drilling there. If this article is correct, it may never be stopped.

I can not read all of the article. I just can't. It is too depressing, and frustrating. We trust these people to know what they are doing, and they have knowingly screwed the earth out of pure evil and greed. I am not normally a violent person, but I don't think anything short of a public lynching of all those involved, and totally new blood working on this in an attempt to ameliorate the damage, will be sufficient. Heads need to roll. . . literally. I don't think there is any rehabilitating someone who would do this to all of us, for money. We are not just in separate areas of the US. We are one with those in Louisiana, Texas, Florida, etc. whose beaches and livlihoods have been destroyed. This was an unconscionable risk to take, and yet they did, because they thought no-one would see the reports warning against drilling, and they wanted that money so badly.
This needs to be broadcast everywhere. Everyone needs to know what was done, and that all warnings were disregarded. TransOcean, BP, you are bastards, and we know it. All of you who supported this are useless, arrogant, evil (and now scum-sucking) pricks. The world takes it in the ass while you try to make a profit. I have news for you, head of BP. . . you will NEVER have your life back.

Thanks for the link DD. If you're interested in reading more about this debacle there's a site oildrum.com that you can go to. Some of the info is a little technical but there's alot of info there.

I think it was CJ who asked the other day where all the shit picked up off the beaches is being dumped and I got an answer for her from last nights Anderson Cooper 360 show. It seems there a 9 landfills accepting the waste. Waste Management has the contract for the disposal. The individual counties where these landfills are located are screaming holy hell to no avail because the landfills are actually controlled by the state.

I think I ate my last seafood meal forever last night. Some frozen shrimp that was purchased before this distaster.

Christina, don't forget the role the US Gobmint palyed in this. They stood back and looked the other way and still are.

Jane I just sent you a new email. Kiki :)

You're right, Escrow. . . my mind didn't even go there. They need to be sent packing, too. The sooner, the better, as they already have proven that they don't have any of "the people's" interests at heart. Impeach, fire, depose, whatever. . . just get rid of them, and (wishful thinking) have them work off some of their debt to society by working on cleanup crews. It will never happen, though, as all their slimy asses are covered, I'm sure. Bastards!

BP is still trying to capture as much of this oil as it can to recoup some of its losses. At this point, it is cheaper for them to capture the oil than it would be to stop this flow and drill another well. They are still looking at the bottom line and trying to save as much as it can.
This is and always was about BP's pockets being filled. They will not stop until they get every penny they can.

Something interesting I heard on one of th talk channels. BP has delegated $20 mil. to be paid out to the people who have lost business because of the spill, but it seems no one is passing it out yet. Is our gov't. holding it for now and if so, when do they intend to give it to the people it was meant to go to? Has anyone heard this before? Like I said it was a talk show so someone may have their info wrong.

I'm with Christina ... I read half of it and it got me sicker. They are playing with a ticking bomb that could lay waste to some of our planet. BP is going to milk that well for profits they do not want to cap this rich reserve so soon.

What is a couple million to a company making near billions?

The government ... though their not any better .... needs to put a thumb to thier eye and up the pressure.

So horrifying. Thank you for the link.

Yeah,
I could only read so much of it. I do not want to be ignorant on the facts but it just makes you sick the more you read it.

I had my first taste of local (CT) raw oysters in the half shell last night. I have a feeling that before long, I will never get that luxury again.

Just got home, been gone all day. I read the first several pp and the eyes don't want to focus. I'll read the rest in the A.M.

Did have an interesting short conversation w/ my ultra conservative friend after dinner tonight. Mentioned several of the other links you've posted lately re Deepwater Horizon. Her ridiculous comment... "not sure why everyone is making such a big deal about this, it could have happened many different ways. Even an earthquake could have done this. They're doing the best they can to clean it up."
Started to explain the facts of life to her, then decided I would never change her mind. Where do I find friends like this....

Escrow ~ thanks for the disposal info. Yeah that was me asking where they were dumping all that crap. The oil spill has fouled the shoreline in LA, Bama, FL and working on TX and now the dumping will eventually foul the ground water for all the folks inland. They're spreading the pain, making sure everyone can share the disaster. What a bunch of fucking A-holes.

I feel so useless watching this happen. I wish there were something people could do to let them understand they can't get away with this (they being ALL those involved making a profit and hiding the truth) and, above all, get the situation "taken care of" with the least damaging result . Read the article, really horrifying, and I agree with other posters that fresh seafood eaten now will be the last we get for a while without being poisoned. But that is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of the horrendous damage being done as we sit here helplessly.

I feel sorry for all the people with small children or infants! Imagine the world they are inheriting?? If there is one left! Read THE ROAD! Truly disturbing! Bima.

Bima- I've read The Road, it's funny that you've equated this disaster with that book, because it is exactly what I thought of, too! Humans wandering around in a dead world with nowhere to go, just trying to survive.

CJ said...

re: the Road, parts of the movie were filmed in my area. Presque Isle beaches in the middle of winter, Conneaut Lake Park (old, old, old amusement park) after a devastating fire wiped out a large section of it's old wooden arcade.

Read The Road too and it stayed with me for a long time. It was interesting discussing it with others who interpreted the ending in such opposing ways. I read the end as the end of all, my mother in law read it as a new beginning and this was the same for many of my friends.

Crabbie, thanks for adding to my Sunday evening angst.
