Her name is Mary Bale

Everyone has heard about this by now, a British woman walking home encountered a friendly cat who was hanging out in front of its own home when she decided to throw the cat away. Tossed that cat right in the trash and walked off. The cat was found by her owners 15 hours later and rescued. They also had cameras outside and they identified Mary Bale as the cat tosser. There's film of it HERE.
Everyone who knows Mary says she's a nice person and her mother called her a cat lover. The story caught my interest because the action seemed out of charactor for the woman. I wonder if she had a brain fart? Like, I wonder if she couldn't control an impulse she had? Or is she secretly a mean evil person? So far, all she's said is that she regrets doing it. I'd like to know what was really going on in her head when she threw that cat in the trash can.

I think she had a brain fart. Why else would she stop to lovingly caress the cat and then suddenly chuck it in the bin? People who hate cats or animals don't usually love on them before they hurt them - do they? I dunno, am I just naive to the ways of animal cruelty maybe?

I hate and fear people who are cruel to animals but I think people are making too much out of this case. If she really wanted to hurt the cat, she could've done much worse IMO.

Also, I think people who claim to hate cruelty to animals but yet have no problem making death threats are full of shit. It's like saying "abortion is murder" but then being okay with murdering a doctor who performs abortions. What part of "murder" don't they understand here?

I'm going with mean evil bitch on this one. She knew what she was doing. She looked around to see if anyone was watching her before throwing the cat in the trash. There's no excuse for what she did, in my opinion.

I guess she wasn't looking around first. I just watched the video of reporters confronting her and they showed clips of the incident. I didn't watch it before that because I can't look at stuff like that. I read a comment earlier that she was looking around before dumping the cat, but they were wrong. I still say she is evil.

Just mean. That's what I'm going with.

anon 2:22..she certainly WAS glancing around before she did it. She knew what she did & then walked away. Poor kitty. This woman is now getting death threats, I wonder if she is as amused by that as she was at what she did? She has no bad feelings about what she did & justified herself by saying, it was funny & its just a cat. It had to be very hot in there. This makes me very very mad today. I need to vent some anger. I hope she gets jailtime.

She might be a "nice people person" but she is definitely not a cat lover. Nasty old bitch.

Maybe she has tumor or something. If she continues acting out of character she should seek a physician. OR maybe she just a mean evil person and finally got caught.

I just heard she has received death threats. That is overreacting.

i hate animal cruelty.. on monday we got a new dog a pure pom and shes beautiful.. but anyways she was bred by my best friend and sold to her cousin, who never paid but thats another story. the cousins boyfriend broke this poor little pups leg, she only weighs 4 pounds so you can imagine how small her legs are. so my best friend went and "repod" the dog and gave her to us.. that guy is a horrible person and bella is just so lovely.. and even her pink leg splint looks adorable on her..

Re: Mary Bale, I'm going to go with pure evil. To say she had a brain fart is like her saying "pfft, 'twas nothing." Luckily it wasn't a baby in a stroller.

Anon@3:37, Bella's lucky to get you and you're lucky to get her. Puppy kisses for all. And don't worry, Karma will get that turd boyfriend. Just watch and wait.

I can't stand animal cruelty....it gets me more upset than someone hurting another person. This woman is just plain stupid and cruel. It makes me sick.

Don't abusers earn your trust first by being nice?

I have the news on in the background. While I read this the same story came on. The newscaster said "luckily the kitty didn't use up all his 9 lives".

Who writes that crap?

I hadn't heard about this but I'm going with nasty old bitch on this one too. DD, I think because you love animals so much you can't possibly fathom doing anything like this on purpose yourself, but that is what the video shows her doing. I really can't imagine why on earth she would've done this. It makes me shudder to think of my cat stuck in there for 15 hours. I'm really glad the owner was able to find the cat in time. If this is really the type of person she is, I'm glad she was exposed.

I got the chills when I watched the video. That was pure evil. I don't know how someone could have a lapse in judgment and do such a cruel thing. The woman stopped, lured in the cat, immediately started looking around to make sure no one was watching her, and she grabbed the cat and dumped him in the trash can, shutting the lid down on him, and quickly walked away. You hear that the devil is at work, and sometime's it's hard to believe, but there's no denying it and it is really scary when you see it right in front of your face.

She's a heartless old bitch. And her mother is full of crap-a "cat lover", oh sure! Talk about being in denial.

I'm inclined to think she needs to have a physical and mental evaluation. I bet they find some dementia or another condition causing her to make odd decisions.

And I hope she never gets near another pet again.

Right on, Miss Tia. FUCK HER, indeed. Who does this kind of shit?? Seriously!! I am so sick of people who SUCK, I can't even deal. I hope someone throws this sorry, pathetic excuse for a human being in a trash can and leaves her there for 15 hours so she can think about what is so terribly wrong in her life, she felt this "overwhelming impulse" to harm a sweet, loving, helpless creature. Good gawd. I shudder to even think what could have happened if the trash truck came along in those 15 hours. Someone's BELOVED FUCKING PET!!! All because this selfish piece of shit hates her life so much. She needs therapy, and then a good ass kicking!

I think a good place to start with her, would be the mental and physical evaluation, as someone here has already suggested. She doesn't look terribly young, and even people in their 50's can develop dementia. I work with someone whose husband is in just such a place. He is getting worse and worse, and appears normal for the most part, but his reactions to things are becoming more and more bizarre. If that checks out normal, I would say she just is a mean ol' bitch, and deserves a good cosmic slap. What a horrible, creepy person to have in your neighborhood.

Team Mean Evil Bitch. She looked around and got paranoid when a car passed. She knew what she was doing. Damn right she did.

DD is the one that gets up out of bed with 3 ft of snow on the ground, trudges thru snow in househoes & nightgown to carry bad neighbor's frozen, crying dog over fence & into her warm house out of the freezing cold in the middle of the night. Thats DD. <3

This is a bit off topic but....why was the cat outside in the first place? I find it really annoying when people let their cats out into the neighborhood at night or whenever. My dog got really sick because the neighborhood cats like to use my backyard as a giant litter box and he ate some of their feces. They pee all over my outdoor carpets and have catfights outside of my window. Still, I've never put one in a garbage can. Now spray them with a hose- I've done that.
