The man who lives in the 1940's

HERE's a very nice article about a man who's obsessed with the design elements of the 1940's. I totally get it. My first thought on seeing the pictures was, oh! I have that phone, that bread box, that frame, that colander..etc. But, this guys bathroom is an outhouse in the garden. Please tell me he has a real toilet hidden in the house somewhere. There's only so much retro I can deal with. Still..his house is adorable.

Love those matching chairs and the mirror over the fireplace. I have three very similar picture frames. Too bad he's in England. He would have loved the auction I had at my parents house several years ago. Mother Never Got Rid of Anything. I found a bunch of neat old tins.

But, outhouse?! The house I grew up in was built in 1900 and it had indoor plumbing.

It is cute. I don't care for the furniture tho. All that old crap, naw. But it's cute, like from a movie about that time. But to actually live in with all stuff, no thanks. The fabrics were usually rough & scratchy, as many were wool and did last for-eh-ver! Scratchy as hell tho and if you fell and ever hit any body parts on a sofa of that time, you were injured!! OUCH! That stuff is solid as a rock! & ugly. I also hope he has a modern bathroom hidden away! Dita Von Teese would love him!!! She has the same taste!! Love you guys. Have a great weekend.

I love old furniture also. Thanks for sharing.

How you feeling Rox?

I have to share something. Our oven died about 2 weeks ago. Stovetop works and the top element works but not the bottom. No baking or complicated cooking in that stove anymore.
We were going to pick up one after my trip to Denver. Before the weather got cold and I needed it to bake.
Well, hubs went out with his god mother to help her run errands. They went to Sears because she is buying herself a new fridge. She saw him looking at the stoves. LSS..I am getting a new stove delivered on Sunday!
Woot Woot!
I have to send her a BIG thank you for that.

I like the look. But I do NOT believe that he only has an outhouse in the garden. He has a real bathroom tucked away somewhere in that house or on the property.

He called it the original bathroom which means he has a modern one in the house.

I absolutely love those chairs. I don't know about the material being scratchy, but I do like the way they are made.

Yeah, I do have that phone. I cut the cord off it so Lis could play with it when she was a baby. It was her fav toy. I have cute pics of her done retro with a 50's hat on talking on that phone. Now it sits here on my desk.
