Niki in the garden

That's Niki in the garden, by Lissa when she was 5. He has one purple leg and one yellow leg. It's on my fridge. And there are others, newer ones. She puts them on there and when it gets full, I put them in a drawer. When the drawer gets full, I put them in a box.
*
I couldn't sleep last night, so I was cleaning out drawers which led me to box's and I found tons of this stuff. I found my nephew's finger paintings from when he stayed with me and I found my daughter's paintings. She was really good. And I found my son's Sport The Dog comic series he did when he was 10. I have macaroni necklaces and turkey hand prints. I have a necklace Lissa made out of a toilet paper tube with yarn through the middle.
*
I should throw this stuff out. But, it's not the art mother's save..it's the moments. I was laughing again remembering my son, running in from school and saying "Can you believe this was once an ordinary soup can??" He was six. Maybe I'll throw it all away tomorrow. I don't need to do it today.

It's a magnetic faux Bratz, I think. The clothes are on there too. I think it's from the dollar store.

I'd keep it. Put it in a tote and save it. I bet Lissa would love to have it.

There were many occasions that Angie was bedazzled with Creamette :) The creator would be SO proud that I would wear it to work. And to my own credit, I wore it all day :)

You've got a creative kid there. She's going places.
Might have told you this before... when the daughter was 4 y.o. I thought she was art-tarded. Wouldn't color between the lines, different colors everywhere. Her little friend the exact age, stayed in the lines, had everything colored the way we think it should be. Right - she not art-tarded, she got her BFA in animation. Very creative in art and writing. I have good feelings about Lissa! Lissa is special.

CJ, as a former art teacher, color books are just wrong. Lissa likes them, but, I make sure she has paper too and I tell her, her own stuff is much better. I hate those color books.

The daughter (told me years later) that she hated coloring books and crayons. She would break every crayon in the house. Just give the kid a piece of paper and a pencil and she was in heaven. She got her first set of professional colored pencils when she was 5. Did not spare the bucks when it came to her art supplies.

I like crayons, I still use them. But, when I taught, the first day, everyone had to take one out of the pack and break it. It really messed with some OCD kids, but, I asked them to do it.

i remember when bette milder's daughter was born and fans were sending her baby gifts and she said she thought the best thing for kids was a piece of a paper and a pencil!

cj--art-tarded!!! LOL!

My kid would've loved your class... she'd break all the crayons for you!

Tia ~ what did I know, she was the first born & an experiment. Didn't have a clue what a four y.o. artistic talent was. Thought all little kids loved coloring books. Boy, did she teach me...

Save them!!! my mom has saved every piece of "art" I made when I was Lissa's age. I am so glad she has them!

Love the picture. My favorite pictures my kids did were of "spider people". You know, large head/face with arms and legs (no body). I still have drawers/boxes/chests filled with drawings, paintings, jewelry, "sculptures", etc. Hell, I'll wait until I'm dead and let them sort through the stuff. Let them keep what they want and get rid of the rest. At least they'll know I treasured them.

Save them. You can sort out other things to get rid of, but those are priceless. I still have some of Andy's art from grade school up on the fridge. A picture of a cabin in the woods.
These things are worth their weight in gold.
