I found that picture on the net. My Hibiscus are blooming too..mine are actually that pretty too. Dinner plate size and various colors. I forgot about them, I thought they died out over the winter, so I planted around them. I saw some large plants comming up through the other flowers and I wondered, hmm, are those the stray Dahlia's I threw in there..or something else? I knew they weren't a weed, so I just watched. Now they look like some sort of fantasy postcard at the side and front of the house. Still waiting on the Dahlia's, I think I spy them in the group though.*
I don't have any camera programs on here yet. I also don't have any of my photo programs, which is why I haven't posted the pictures you guys have sent me. I enjoyed seeing them though. I have Windows 7 now and I'm still picking around in here. Oh, do you know Windows 7 has no email program? Yep. They did away with Outlook so now you have to go looking for an email program and put it in yourself. Isn't that something? Good thing I have Yahoo mail. So, if you used my other email to write to me, please use yahoo now. The addy is on the side here. I'll figure it all out eventually. Right now I'm just fascinated to get to the net anytime I want.

I am lazy and tired now and I don't feel like looking for all my software..it's probably in a drawer with my maternity underwear and bell bottoms. I guess most people are more organized than me. Probably everyone in the world is more organized than me. Am I the only one who buys something I already bought because I can't remember where I put it after I bought it? That's how I ended up with 3 bottles of Elmer's Glue and 2 packs of french nail tipper. Which I just found while looking for my camera software. Now I give up on the camera and I'll do my nails instead. What are you up to?

Watching Road to Singapore on TCM. They did you a favor not giving you Outlook, that stuff is shut. Get Thunderbird.
You always said that, but, I never had a lick of trouble with it and I could get huge pics. With yahoo all the pics go to a win zip folder and all I do is cuss. Better than nothing though.
Thunderbird huu? I'll check it out.
shit
Your post made me laugh. I have multiple jars of thyme and cilantro because I couldn't remember which one I had and which one I needed and then I couldn't remember which one I had already bought. It seemed to be an endless cycle that a grocery list could have fixed - but no, that would be too easy!!
Annie
We have a family softball tournament this weekend and have to work in the concession stand in an hour. It rained all morning, so it's humid as hell and the flies will be horrible. I'm trying to find the positive in this scenario, but so far I'm drawing a blank..LOL
Hey Angie, when I was on vacation we visited a place where they had hung several ziploc bags filled halfway with water from the posts/rafters. When I asked what they were for they said it keeps away the flies (they had cattle nearby). Evidently the flies see their own reflection and its freaks them out. LOL! Whatever - it worked. There weren't any flies!
My brother lives near horse properties and I told him about it. He nailed a few on his patio and by his front door. He still can't believe it worked.
That's crazy! I'm gonna try it on my porch. I wonder if it works for wasps. Those mean fuckers hang out there.
Watching Agatha Christies " THE MIRROR
CRACKED " with Angela Landsbury portraying
spinster sleuth Miss Marple. TCMs Bob Hope
movie marathon lost out to the mystery channel.
Helen Hayes played Miss Marple perfectly IMO.
But this play has Rock Hudson Kim novak &
liz Taylor all starring in it. I do enjoy a good MM.
Agatha Christie was the queen of whodunnits IMO.
Does anyone here like her work ? She has a
Belgian sleuth Mr. Hercule Poirot his charachter has
been played by Peter Ustinov quite well and by
David Suchet still to this day on Pbs. - Kiki :)
MMs are a great escape for me.
Annie, I swear my mind is like some kind of maze now. It's awful.
I've been "lurking" ..I come on here on my phone when I'm nursing Becca Bean but don't have enough hands to post a comment. I rarely have more than 10 seconds to sit down at the computer.
Can you believe she is going to be 1 month tomorrow? Seems like I was in labor just yesterday.B, Sam and I have pretty much got a routine down, finally. Sam follows me around the house w/ her baby doll (also named Becca- ha!) and feeds her / burps her / changes her / bounces her to sleep etc. She's a mini mommy, it's so cute.
Oh, Biz I was just over at your site and saw her new picture. She is the cutest bean ever!
i stopped using outlook after i got a nasty nasty virus from it back in 1998!! i just get my mail from the yahoo website....
ran some errands and i have one more place to go but i wanted to stop at home, unload and then go back out....
my neighbor and i spent 6 hours weeding our other neighbor's flower gardens yesterday! it was REALLY overgrown!!! i transplanted some daisies that were hidden behind a plant....they already looked sad because they were crowded by weeds and another plant, but now that i've transplanted them they look REALLY sad....i'll keep them watered though the next few days---now they're really exposed to the sun full on in the afternoon---and they'll be fine! (i really really hope!)
oh and re: organization....i always say if i was organized i'd be dangerous! :)
KiKi, I love David Suchet as Poirot. He IS Poirot in my mind's eye. (Loved Joan Hickson as Miss Marple too.) Christie could write 'em better than anyone, bar none.
Biz, your lil' Bean is just adorable and glad to hear Sam is adjusting so well. Good job! I hope you're getting a little rest.
DD, I don't know about wasps but when I asked about mosquitoes I was told no. Those beasts sucked up my thin AZ blood in no time.
Gmail is really good- and if you need a photo editing software, Picasa is an awesome free download.
I've been waiting all summer for female zucchini blossoms. I finally got 1 and I see 2 more coming in. I just finished hand pollinating it since bees have been scarce. I hope I didn't kill it. I smoked a cigarette for it afterwards. lol I still have not had any female butternut squash blossoms.
It looked like someone had cut the tops off my tomato plants last week. Upon further investigation, I found a big fat green tomato stripping my plant of leaves. I took great pleasure watching it drown in the toilet. (I had to show it to my son) I've become obsessed with trying to find more though I did spray them with BT after finding it and haven't spotted any since. The humidity and rain has caused many of my tomato tops to split. :(
We have another hot humid week in the 90's coming up. My last months electric bill was 205.00. I can't wait to see this month. Com Ed is loving this.

I use Picasa. It's free and easy. You should check it out. I never use the software that comes with my cameras, YUCK!
i don't use camera software either! don't use the flip video software either! just use windows movie maker to make videos.....
oh DD, i forgot to tell you, i just found out i know someone who went into the witness protection program too!! in jr. high there was a cute italian boy who sat behind me in homeroom and in a couple other classes....in 7th grade he wasn't in school one day, sick right? NO! evening paper showed his house being raided by federal agents!! They even removed the windows with the frames to look for hidden money/drugs (i still remember that newspaper photo clear as day)....he said his dad was a business man who traveled to chicago and omaha a lot.....well, it was with the mob! we had heard at the time that he and his mom and siblings went to go live with their grandma somewhere, but someone on facebook who i went to school with got to searching---cuz we brought that up and there WAS a rumor at the time about him going into the witness protection program.....
well he HAD to have gone into it; because there is ZERO trace of any court records with the dad's last name, you cannot even find that story and pix in the paper's archive, there's nothing.....someone else works at an SS office and they searched for his name and nothing! guess his dad testified against the mob!
Picasa is not awesome. Sorry, but, I pity anyone stuck with that.
Him DD,
yes, I am seeing a Dr. and today we took my MIL to the clinic, and she was sent home. Once here, she had a convulsion, and lost conscieness (? I never am sure about spelling that word). We took her back to the hospital and she has been admitted. My diagnosis for me was Ischemic Cardiomyopathy, which is basically congestive heart failure. I had bad pains today, but refused, as I couldn't deal with another hospital stay. I have 3 drs, and they treat me like a "House" guinea pig.... exams and more exams. My dad has come to me in dreams, telling me that I can join him (he passed in 2008). I feel lousy, but get on with it, as I have a husband (who is wonderful - 22 yrs. married in june) and 2 boys 19 and 17. I am at the limit of the meds that they can give me, I take 100 mg of Atenolol (tenorman) a day + alot of other stuff. Doesn't seem to help. But, ya gotta keep your sense of humor and SMILE, right?
Lots of love to you, and all the others who have taken an interest in what's happening with me.....
Beth in Seville
P.S. I'm 45 yrs. old
Beth in Seville
hope you are doing better soon Beth!!! sending healing thoughts your way!
Beth, you are too young to think about leaving. I know it's not always a choice, but, you need to concentrate on staying here awhile longer. Sometimes it makes a difference. Thinking of you.
Beth you are way too young to be dealing with that. I don't think your dad really wants you to join him so soon, your family here still needs you. Please take care!
But, I have no doubt she talked to her dad and he gave her a great gift. He took away all fear.
But, yeah, I don't think he means leave now. He just knew what was on your mind. (I think, but, who knows for sure?) You must have been close. It's incredibly sweet really. A very loving gesture.
I keep buying bread to put in the freezer and then come home and there's already enough in there.
I start work tomorrow and I feel so happy already! I feel fortunate to have found a job and Costco seems like a great place to work. I'm guaranteed 25 hrs/week and they pay time and a half on Sunday. They also pay for holidays that they are closed on. 5 days of 5 easy hours this week . I can do that!
Good luck!
valle, could you please ask them to hire me here in Chicago? :) It's near impossible to get a job at the Costco's here unless you know someone.
I hear they treat their employees very well.
Good luck with your new job, Valle!
I worked yesterday and today, and managed to leave a few hours early each day. I love it when I can leave early.
My husband had another garage/yard sale yesterday, which he managed by himself. He did well. Each week we dig further and further into the closets and pull out all kinds of crap that we haven't even thought about in years. We'll have another sale this Saturday, though there is going to be another neighborhood sale (historic district and most likely about 100 sales in all) further into town, so we may have too much competition. We'll do it anyway. This past Saturday, people at the sale were admiring our red trumpet vine, and my husband even dug up a seedling that was coming up along the concrete edge of the driveway, and sold it for $5. I couldn't believe it. I told him that it was lucky I came home when I did, or he might have dug up bits of the driveway and sold those too.
It's warm here---maybe 80ish, and it rained last night, but not too hard.
Did anyone manage to see the northern lights display from the solar flare? I tried repeatedly, and we did have clear nights, but never saw anything out of the ordinary.
I notice I forget things, too, DD. I have always had a good memory, but lately have noticed that I need to make myself notes at work, or I forget things. I blame it on the distractions, but it's probably just me getting older.
LOL @ hubby diggin' up the trumpet vine for 5 bucks! That's cheap, they're hard to dig. I planted one this spring, about a foot tall..it is now running all across the porch and up to the roof. It's all over the chimney..maybe it will grow down the chimney and if I sit here long enough I will be covered in trumpets.
my trumpet vines have yet to flower...it's been about 4 years....they spread like the dickens though! hope they flower soon! i know things take a few years.....
LOL @ DD---covered in trumpets! I bought mine as a dead looking little stick with two wispy looking little sprouts. It is along our driveway fence, and is probably about 15 feet wide and 7 feet tall and about 6 feet deep. It grew okay for a few years, and then took off like crazy. It's got a nice little overhang over a little bit of the yard, and the dogs like to lie in the grass there, underneath. It draws the bees, wasps and hummers from everywhere, so you wouldn't want to sit too close.
My mom gave me a yellow trumpet about 8 years ago, and this year it's been bigger than other years (that's not saying much), but it has never bloomed. Not once. I have it along the cemetery fence, so I wonder if workers are occasionally spraying it, thinking it's a weed.
It must just be different from plant to plant.
I hope you both have blooms, soon.
We spent the day getting our son ready for school tomorrow. He will officially be in middle school. It's an exciting time for him. He was so done with elementary school. I will miss him tomorrow but will hopefully get back to a regular schedule. I've neglected a few things around the house while I've played with my boy over the summer.
Nice flower. My hibiscus is a deep red, kinda maroon color. Something has been chewing the leaves and the hostas below them. I sprayed and saved the plant. We got our new ge stove today. I have not had a new stove in forever. Too humid to bake. Hubs made rice beans and pork. I took a rare but much needed nap this afternoon. I have water garden tomorrow and I am jumping back on the exercise horse again.
Beth in Seville - Please don't give up, not yet. You're much too young....I am hoping there is treatment(s) that can be done. IF you need to be in the hospital, please, GO! I'm thinking of you.
Beth in seville please hold on & take the
message of courage from your dad into your
heart. I care about you Beth. I understand
why he visits you in dreams. It's a message
of courage to garner your strength. You still
have lots to do here with the three men in your
life. I want to tell you about a poem by poet
Dylan Thomas called DO NOT GO GENTLE
INTO THAT GOOD NIGHT please google it &
read it. Take strength from it Beth. Dylan Thomas
wrote it for his father to garner his strength. - Kiki :)
Valle all the best on this first day of your new job
@ costco. -Kiki :)
Doing this wedding I have bought tape many times because I couldn't find any! Grr!...and ribbon out the ass. Craft paper, glue, glue again. Tape again...oops, more ribbon! Dayum, its not cheap to forget stuff!!! Plus, I live out in the country and I would rather buy it when I think of it then get all the way home and need something. I do the same thing with brown sugar, flour etc. You can always use it.
rox
Crabs, OUTLOOK does suck! I only use for In Office emails. Yahoo all the way babeee...

I just heard that actress Patricia Neal died.
She was 84. She had a torrid affair with Gary
Cooper back in the day. GC s daughter Maria
called her out for it in public and slapped her
in the face. Drove Pat right into a breakdown.
She was a olde Hollywood star on a bygone era.
There are less and few and far between as the
years go on. Sigh ........... - Kiki :|
