You guys seem to like my ghost stories so here's one I got a conclusion to the other day. Last January a woman came into the shop for a reading and she was upset because there's something in her house besides her family. She said it felt bad and terrorized her son. She thought it was a demon and she'd been praying and hung crosses all over. So, I look at her cards and I see her son (he wasn't with her and I'd never met her before) and I told her yeah, something is in the house. And I can tell her son is afraid and that always makes me feel bad. Kids should never be afraid in their own home. At least his mom believed him.
*
So anyhow, she talked me into visiting her house to see if I had any insights into this "thing" she called a demon. I told her I'm a Pagan and I dunno about that demon stuff. But, she cried and said how afraid her little boy is. Sucker me. I told her I'd come, but, I don't know what I'm supposed to do about it, you know? I hate going to people's houses, even when they pay me. And she wasn't paying me, I told her I didn't want money. This was about a little kid.
*
As soon as I walked into her house, I heard him. The ghost. Bam! He's talking a mile a minute and he's upset. I can't see him, (just in my head), but, man, can I hear him. So she sees me listening and nodding and she asks, "It's a demon, isn't it? Oh, my god, it's a demon!"
*
And I looked at her and said, no. What you've got here is an old man and he's pissed off. He's 80 years old and he thinks he can raise your kid better than you do. He says you and your husband let that kid do anything he wants, eat anything he wants, watch television and play video games all day and stay up half the night. He says you let that child sleep in your bed instead of his room.
*
And she's all freaked out because I know this stuff and I said, the old man lives here, he told me. He says you think your son has some hyper active, attention deficit disorder. And she said, OMG, yes, he does. And I said, well, I don't know, but, the old man, excuse me, his name is Mr. James, thinks this is bullshit and you need to get a handle on that kid. He thinks he isn't being raised right. He has no discipline.
*
So I spent about a half hour talking to Mr. James and I told him he might be right, but, he can't raise the couple's kid. It's not his business. And he tells me how awful it is living here with that loud kid who runs the whole house and I feel so bad for the old man. His whole life near the end was about reading the newspaper and watching the news on TV and now he can't even find a quiet place to sit in his own house.
*
Then the woman asks me to send him into the light and I told her she watches to much Ghost Whisper. I don't know anything about that crap. So, I asked Mr. James if he can hear her and does he see a light? And he grabbed his head and said "Lord have mercy on the stupid." I don't know if he meant me or her or both. He said that was HIS house.
*
I was tired of it all and of being slightly insulted too. And I asked him if they gave him one quiet room would he leave them alone? And he got more upset and said there is no quiet room. He said he's tried moving to the attic and they even let that kid run up there. Up and down the stairs, went that kid, screaming all day.
*
So I asked the woman, what's in the attic? And she told me just storage, for Christmas lights and things like that. So I asked her if she'd put a lock on the attic door and let Mr. James have it? She said yes. And I asked Mr. James if she did that, would he leave them alone and he agreed. The door is at the bottom of the stairs and now the kid can't get into that room or run on those stairs. They reached an agreement.
*
So I ran into the woman yesterday and I asked her how things were going and she told me everything in the house is fine now. She said they hear things moving in the attic sometimes, but, it never comes downstairs and it never bothers them or their boy anymore. She said they were going to buy a new recliner and she wondered if I thought Mr. James would like the old one for the attic. I told her I thought that would be a nice gesture. He'd probably appreciate that. I doubt he needs it, but, it's the thought that counts.

What a GREAT story!! Loved it...do you have any more? I'd LOVE to read them!
woooow.
this is what a drug addict must feel like.
everytime i read your stories, i end up wanting more more more.
thank you.
KIM!!! how ya doing?!?!?!? been thinking of you!!!
it's sad, but i bet those parents won't change anything how they treat the boy and he'll grow into a self-entitled out of control brat!
He was just old..you know. Like everything he said started with "in my day". In his day children didn't act like that and in his day children were spanked and on and on. I told him it wasn't his day. He told me things I kept to myself too. Like he didn't think it was right that a white woman married a mexican and that they smoked "wacky tobacky" in the basement.
Hey Tia! Finally got moved over into the new place, DSL up and running again (felt like I was in outer fucking Mongolia til I did) and just trying to survive. Thanks for asking! I missed everyone!
It's good to hear from you, Kim! I've been wondering how you were!
Pat, when you answer him. . . I'm guessing it's silently? Was this woman standing right there and unaware of him, other than in the vaguest sense? And she wasn't able to hear him either?
The ability you have to do this is amazing to me.
Pat, can a ghost let you know its around via a certain scent? My older brother passed away 28 yrs ago at the age of 20,in a hospital. He had always used my parents bathroom to shower and groom. I always knew he was readying himself to go out somewhere because I could smell his hair and other grooming products.
Not always - but once in a while,if I go towards the back of my parents house, where this bathroom is- the scent of him is there. Sometimes stronger than other times. I find it comforting. Maybe its my wee brain just remembering...
Pat - that last comment was from me. Sorry!
connie45- Last try...

Have been reading here for a bit.
I myself have lived in a house that had a thing in it. Did not speak nor could you see it. One night it did remove a hair clip from my girlfriend's hair. It looked like a whirlwind type thing.
Did make a lot of noise. Would shut doors, ring bells, knock on doors, ect. My question to you is do you think there is a difference between ghost and spirits? I had the feeling this was more like a spirit if this makes sense.
DD-,
Loved your story! I once lived in a house with "something" in it, but it was really bad. Turned out the house was built on a Indian massacre ground. Nasty stuff! On night, things got wild (seeing stuff, and books literally flying). I ran out (felt something trying to stop me - imagination?-), left, and NEVER went back. That was in Penna.
Hope you're doing well! What happened the other day with your blog?

Loved this recap! You have some very amazing abilities and experiences!!
I actually laughed at this! What a great story. I hope she listens to Mr. James though. Sounds like he knows a little bit more about what's going on than his parents do!
I'll try an answer your questions, if I can. Yes, I was speaking to him silently, I think I sound incredibly odd when I talk to them out loud. I get embarassed.
Scents..yes. I've had spirits give me scents. Perfume, coffee, flowers, fresh cut wood and grass, cigars..many things. It's a hint to who they are. Not all good smells either.
Ghost and spirit? To me, the only difference is that the word spirit can mean more than former human. There are things here that were never human, yet they are sentient beings.
I've also just realized that when I have good clear communication, like with the very vocal Mr. James, I need the energy of another person usually. I need the person the ghost needs to talk to. I don't know why I haven't understood that before, but, I finally figured it out.
i'm glad mrs. moss doesn't mind what i'm doing in her house!! she just goes about her business as i go about mine! :) sometimes she leaves a light on, but that's okay.....my neighbor likes to turn on my wii....pranks are fine as long as critters don't get hurt!
I understand what you said perfectly. Some of them seem to co-exist and neither of us is more than vaguley aware of it most of the time. I think sometimes our timeline is different even though we share the same physical space. That seems to be the norm.
i'm always so fascinated by your stories.. sounds like a really cool experiance!
yeah....different timelines at times....and mrs. moss looks about 35 or 40, but she passed away when she was in her 70s....that always fascinates me too....many people are not 'old' when they pass on, they are at their best age and looks.....some are older, but most i see are younger.....
Yes! I've noticed that too.
Yes, DD when this spirit did visit I felt like it wanted recognition. I did not ever feel afraid of it. It was more playful than anything. I finally realized that it wanted noticed.
So when it would show up I would let it know I knew it was there. I was a single mother at the time. This went on for about 6 years. I got a boyfriend and it left. Thanks DD for you thoughts.
Sometimes a new person will make them go away. That's interesting.
THIS is why I come here to read. Love your writing, your experiences and your insight, Pat.
