Who's your favorite Food Network star?

Mine is Sandra Lee of Semi Homemade. You have to think of the Food Network as a comedy channel, which is what it is. Sandra Lee mostly makes cocktails. She can make a cocktail out of cantelope and chocolate syrup. Or her couch. Or anything. She drinks the shit out of some cocktails too. No fake sipping for Sandy! She took all her bar glasses and hung them on a pine tree once. A cocktail Christmas tree! She's always so fucked up, she thinks her food looks good. Sandra Lee is like the Amy Winehouse of the Food Network. You gotta love that.

I love Ina Garten because she is like Martha Stewart lite with her fabu gays. I have done many of her recipes and she cooks like I do. Other than her I like nigella Lawson (the cooking channel). I miss Mario Battali. You all know I am a cooker so i enjoy the shows for ideas. I hate rachel ray, Sandra Lees tablescapes scare me, Bobby Flay is an arrogant prick (but he has some good recipes), and the Neeley's need to get a room. I like him but the two if them is gag inducing... Hey mommy! Hey daddy!
Barf!!

I like Ina and Nigella too. I can't stand most of them. Paula makes me gag. Seriously, how does she eat that shit?? Bobby Flay is a fucking asshole.

I like Ina's recipes which are unapologetically real and delicious. Butter, cream, sugar...bring it on.

Rachel Ray is tiresome in every way. I loved Bob Blumer's Surreal Gourmet - he had an Airstream trailer tricked out to look like a toaster - but I don't know if it's on anymore.

My favourite is Alton Brown. Breaks everything down in a scientific and fun way, hates uni-tasker gadgets and is unpretentious.

Ever see "This Food, That Wine"? That was food porno of the worse kind. I do NOT need to see close up shots of glossed lips drinking wine over and over during a cooking show. Give me a break. Maybe they just subjected us Canadians to that piece of garbage. I hope so for your sake.

Early Paula shows I like. Before her head got bigger then the door frame and she had to turn up the country bumpkin act to 11.

Someone should tell that tiresome Rachael Ray that if you have to say extra virgin olive oil everytime you say EVOO, it's not a good abbreviation.

Also, there is something wrong with someone who never washes mushrooms.

I've never seen This Food, That Wine. If it's about wine in any way, I don't want to. I hate wine.

Food Network ... I'll watch Alton anytime he's on and Guy when it's Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.
Travel Channel - Love Anthony Bourdain on No Reservations.

Like Mario, too... but he's rarely on.

The kid told me Guy was taping a triple D at a place in her neighborhood several weeks ago. It's the kid's favorite 'dive'. They serve vegan plus food for real people.

I like the "seriously" at the end. But I'm confused...my meatloaf looks like that...lol

Cj.. Are we twins? Lol Is you kid vegan you? Hubs and I love Anthony Bourdain.. Did you see 100 th episode last night? I love Eric Ripert.
Hubs love Guy and we have watch Triple D if it is new and sometimes repeats. I like him sometimes but his over the topness can get on ny nerves if I am PMSing...hehe

Heidi ~ the kid announced at her 17th birthday dinner she was a veggie person... going over to the green side. This was after I had paid mega $$$ for some beautiful red snapper that her father-person cooked on the grill (in the middle of a PA blizzard !!). That is the last time she ate anything with a face. She can't be considered a true vegan b/c she eats cheese, but that is the only animal product she consumes. Best part about her being a vegan... remember the 2 boxers she has??? She feeds them RAW !!! Love it, kid cutting up all those pieces of organ meat and chicken backs for her babies. You wouldn't believe all the 'stuff' she buys for those dogs.

Yup, watched hours of Anthony yesterday, think I fell asleep last night still watching him!! I'm not sure if I've ever watched an entire epi of Triple D. There's always something else on I want to watch ... so I keep flipping between the two shows.

I like Guy Fieri on DDD. He's done a couple of segments from Phx/suburbs and hear he was cool with the locals - not a divo at all.
Alton Brown rocks! He's the only reason I watch Iron Chef too.

I like Guy Fierri. Bobby Flay is arrogant as hell. Giada scares me with her huge head. I want to hit Lynn Crawford with a shovel.

I dislike the American "Iron Chef". It's watered-down and dull. Gimme secret ingredients like eel brains and fish heads over boring shit like red peppers and chicken breasts any day. Plus I loved the voice overs they'd do on the Japanese Iron Chef. They'd always say pervy-sounding shit like "I love the way this feels inside my mouth!" It cracked me up.

Love Sandra, for the same reasons as you, DD. She's all about appearances and she's a hoot, but has no clue she's funny.
Love her tablescapes. Can you imagine spending the money she does on such tacky craft store stuff for a tea or dinner?
I find her very soothing to watch.

Alton Brown!!! And the guy from Dinner Impossible. Also Guy Fieri at DDD. Did you know there's a Guy Fieri impostor in Tacoma, WA? He fooled everyone, including one of the local newspapers and a local radio personality (YAY Mens Room!) at the Seafair last year.

Love Antony Bourdain. Hate Bobby Flay. And for some fucked up reason, quite like Tyler Florence... don't ask... have no clue... Like Ina too. Can't stand the EVOO cow. Don't watch much food TV though. Have followed Top Chef DC for a bit but it really isn't much of anything. Do like watching Top Chefs though. Iron Chef - thought it was a hoot to begin with (when it first started) but lost steam as the seasons repeated themselves.

I guess I'm a little out of step on this. I don't watch any of those food shows with the exception of Anthony Bourdain once in awhile, and Andrew Zimmern on Bizarre Foods.

I love Alton Brown & Anthony Bourdain, they're great to watch & I watch pretty much everything they're in. I'd like to tell Rachel where to cram her EVOO, same with Bobby. I like Guy & Triple D, but it always makes me so damn hungry, then I'm craving a burger & I have yet to find a truly great burger joint in this city, it's either chain restaurants or places that serve burgers that taste like the burgers from the chain restaurants. No truly great mom & pop places, just people serving processed crap.

@Melissa, agree with you on Top Chef DC, I mean the one guy is winning all the challenges, it's seeming a little bland. It'd be great to see an actual competition where it's anyone's game each time.

@Alison, I agree, the Japanese Iron Chef what a lot better to watch, the voice overs were fab & cracked hubs & I up all the time. It had such a huge following. And yeah, I mean the competition with Michael Symon where they had bacon as the secret ingredient or the time they had chilies for one of the ones Bobby Flay was in, I mean gee, what's the point.

Never seen Sandra, we don't get all the same shows on these channels that they show in America, which sucks, I keep seeing ones I wouldn't mind taking a look at.

Sandra is a GEM! Don't you just love her "that's a savings of 34%" episodes? It's hysterical! And her semi-homemade stupidity? One episode she was using stovetop stuffing mix and calling it "semi homemade" cause she added some sauteed onion and celery. It's just too funny.
IMO, Ina rules. I've actually made her recipes and they are flawless!

I don't like her show anymore. I used to. But she remakes her kitchen every day, to match her food! Its way outta control. But she grew up not knowing where her next meal was coming from. POOR! So, I do like her for owning that fact. I think she does make some good stuff on occasion, altho, I haven't watched her in a long time. I dont know how she ever cooks..all she seems to get done is totally redecorating her kitchen, daily!

I'm a slut for cooking shows - and apparently a CHEAP slut because I just flit from show to show, depending on how tasty the food "porn" looks!

Right now, Anthony Bourdain is a favorite - mostly as I have his 2 latest books (Bloody Valentine & My Favorite Meal). BV is good because he spends most of it apologizing to everyone he insulted in Kitchen Confidential (his 1st book) - although he ends with insulting even more "chefs" (his take on Sandra Lee is worth the price of the book).
What is nice to see is how he's matured, accepted his foibles and past behaviors, and that he's madly in love with his 4 year old daughter - he's changed for the better.
Although he still eats weird shit.

I like Ina Garten and Anthony Bourdain. The only thing about Ina that bugs me is that laugh of hers. She laughs at everything and I mean everything. Don't know if it is a nervous laugh or what but it gets so annoying!

Last Christmas, Hubs bought me Ina`s latest cookbook that coincides with the new way the show is..Back to Basics.
So I get to watch her make the recipes and then I have the book to go back to for reference.

She has a recipe for 40 cloves of garlic chicken (i do not use all 40). OMG! It is the best!
