They are built from plaster, wire mesh, PVC tubing, steel, fibreglass resin and brass. They weigh between 70 and 175 stone and are capable of withstanding winds of up to 120 miles an hour. Created by Will Ryman and installed all along Park Avenue.

Do I think they're great art? No. Do I think they're worth a million bucks in the midst of one of the cruelest Januaries in history? You betcha. It's too bad only the people on Park Ave get to be reminded of hope though. More HERE.

I like it. Its pretty. But worth that much. NOOOO.. Its not made out of silver, bronze or gold. But its very interesting to look at.
Only 1 million? I like it. I know if I was there I'd be getting pics with them. It's kinda like "Alice in Wonderland" to me. Red Queen'ish. Pretty kewl. They may travel the country like so many artists do with their outdoor works. It's a tourism thing. It pays off for the cities. And any city that does anything at all to promote art, is A-O-K with me!!!

We had the touring "cows of all colors" here in Indy last year I think. We have had several large traveling outdoor art exhibits, many are interactive. They stay a few months , then away they go to enchant another city. before you tire of them. Its fascinating.

Yeah, Alice in Wonderland-esque!
I think they're neat! Nice way to brighten up the snowy winter NYC is having.
Just checked google maps... these are two blocks up Park Ave from my son's office... maybe I can get him to take a pic & email it.
Several thoughts here:
1) I like them.
2) To see color in the middle of all that snow and slush lifts your spirits.
3) Did the city spend a million on this or is this what it cost the artist? Maybe a million could have been used better elsewhere.
4) It would be nice if the exhibit moves to other cities--like the cows.
5) And I would have liked to see each group be a different type of flower---lilies, irises, daisies---happy spring flowers.
But all in all, I like!
I think it's beautiful. I agree it's "Alice in Wonderland"-ish. It even kind of looks like the ride at Disneyland. (That's my second favorite ride, after Splash Mountain.)
