Mother of six, Jessica Beagley has been arrested for child abuse after authorities viewed THIS tape from the Dr. Phil show. The boy in the tape is her seven year old adopted son. Beagley and her husband, who works at the Anchorage police department adopted the boy and his twin from Russia when they were five. Beagley is a Mormon, I don't know if that has anything to do with anything, it was just a fact about her.*
The show aired in November and the case has been under investigation since then. Yesterday, Beagley was charged with misdemeanor child abuse and pleaded not guilty. The children have not been removed from her home. "Nothing Jessica has done is criminal. If you give your child food that has hot sauce on it - maybe they eat Mexican food - does that mean its child abuse," said Bill Ingaldson, a lawyer for Beagley.

It ruined my whole day to think that anyone would even argue that it's not child abuse to pour hot sauce in a child's mouth and force him screaming, into a cold shower. This kid is living in Hell with an ogre who terrorizes him on a regular basis. She should not be allowed anywhere near any child, let alone allowed to adopt them and make them call her mother.

It's funny that you mentioned she was Mormon. Where shall I start? First of all, they suck. Secondly, they crave power, especially the women, because they have none, so they dominate their children because it's the only control they have. Third and foremost, they suck.

Maybe I watch too many movies but I thought that when you punish your kids it's supposed to hurt you too. This evil monster is enjoying this which, regardless of the method, is the real issue.

I don't use hot sauce as a punishment either...it wouldn't do any good with 2 of mine they love the stuff. but i think is some ways it is effective...not a mouthful and not as a punishment for everything....cold shower that is horrible to me...a dab of hot sauce then a drink to counter the hot if they were swearing or something i could see (remember the old soap in mouth, same idea)... I didn't do the soap thing either...hell aside from yelling at mine to go to there room they don't really get any other kind of disciple...I don't think they need it..some might disagree...i think what she did was wrong. is it child abuse personally i don't think so but that is just my opinion...

i read this article a little bit ago and after i commented i watched the video... holding the hot sauce in his mouth is horrible. I think that is wrong. and she didn't give him something to drink after so it still burns in his mouth...horrible...I am not even going to address the shower because that is way wrong....her way of discipline is abusive towards him....i think she needs to be taught how to discipline her kids correctly.... i don't know if the kids should be taken away if she is willing to try alternative methods of discipline....because as fucked as her method is maybe she really does love him...again just my opinion....

I just found that out about Lisa Whelchel. Not a good thing. I do know pwoplw that have allowed a 1 yr old obese child to eat chips and hot salsa and I thot that was almost an abuse! The kid liked it and whenever someone came over they'd show them that she likes it & watch her eat it etc. laughter ensued. But not from me. It was just wrong. But pouring hot sause in a kids mouth could cause them to choke to death. How you gonna explain that to the ER & cops? This is horrendous. I also think the Chinese mom that does not ever praise her kids for their achievements and forces them to make straight A's, no tv in their lifetime, no games, no sleep- overs, no friends, is a terrorist. Think about the kids telling their friends and their teacher and then the kids telling their parents and then they call the cops and CPS. You lose your kids. & Besides that, ITS MEAN & most probably illegal! It is def. criminal & a form of torture and terrorism and child abuse. People need to step back when about to punish a child, take a deep breath and just stop. Leave the room. Go outside. Calm down. Nothing is that bad. Just send the kid to his room w/o TV or phone for 2 weeks. Something they will want to work hard to get back. Don't poison or terrorise or injure your kids. You WILL go to jail, anybody will. I was abused as a child as well. Both my parents were rage-aholics. I have nightmares about their screaming crazy violent outbursts to this day.
The bitch on Dr. Phil, she needs ALL of her kids taken away until she gets the proper therapy-- but the russian twins need to be permanently removed from her care because she doesn't have the brains or the education to deal with them. Some adopted russian children have a psychological problem called attachment disorder--- which is caused by not forming close bonds with caregivers as an infant. (so in other words, they were ignored by their caregivers in the orphanages). And it takes some fairly sophisticated and consistant parenting techniques to override the behavioral problems that come with attachment disorder. And Clearly, that mormon beast on the video is not up to the task.

And they may end up "lucky" because this came to light on national TV but what about the thousands others that are not so "lucky". And by lucky, they will probably end up in the foster care system and we all unfortunately know how often these kids end up, in worse situations.
There is absolutely no bloody way this is not child abuse. Anytime one uses aggression and fear tactics to handle children, whatever form that may take, sorry, but it's child abuse. There is no bleeping excuse to harm a child, other than a sick thirst to hurt someone you can dominate.
There is only one "correct" way to educate your child, and that is teaching them action/consequence they can grasp, with love, patience, a firm tone, time out and letting them understand why the choice they made/words they used are not acceptable.

I saw this when it aired and I was sickened then, but seeing the clip on its own makes it even worse.
I was spanked by angry parents, so I am not shocked by physical punishment, but I knew my parents loved me. I never spanked my children because I knew my parents were wrong.
There is no love from this woman. She absolutely hates this child. If I remember correctly from the show she wasn't anywhere that bad with the other children. She has chosen this one as the scapegoat, and he is fulfilling his role.

This reminds me of my company's president's neice, who was living with her bf and her 4 yr old son. I told you guys about this, but the lack of love comments reminded me of it...so, one day when she's at work her son has an accident in his pants( he went #2) the bf freaked out and beat him so bad across his back that his heart exploded and his spine was broken. He never woke up from the beating. That was horrid. The damn guy has admitted to it and is yet to be arrested. There are signs all over town here "Justice 4 Dylan"...it ain't happenin. What else do they need? His own 5 yr old son told the cops what happened and he basically confessed. But he's still free & working. Just because the kid had an accident in his pants. Thats awful, but he has no feelings for the kid. So, he probably always was harsher on him than his own boy. & Now he's dead. People need to STOP and think before taking action against a child.
