That antique rusty monstrosity is our water main for the whole neighborhood. It broke last night and we were all without water. Well, before it broke I had a stopped up toilet and called a plumber who came this morning. He thought he fixed it, but, there wasn't any water to flush it. I got pissed off and peed in the yard about 4 am. I hope I mooned the mayor and city council who spend thousands on trees to beautify the square which are cut down and replaced every two years or so. And who buys and installs fire hydrants on empty lots so the fire department can practice. But, which benifit no citizens, because there are no houses where they're installed. Our water mains here in Guntown are over a hundred years old and they break a lot. Who cares if we have water, eh? Shitty looking old thing should go in the fucking museum, not back in our torn up street. Shame on the people who run this town.

A day and night with no water

that's happening all over the country---water mains 80+ years old, sewer lines the same age....deteriorating and yet the cities have not prepared for this inevitability....

Oh man that's disgusting.I'm sorry you have to live through this. A plugged up toilet and no flushing water are my worst nightmare.

I live out in the county and every time we lose power we also lose water. I learned way back as a kid that when the lights go out nobody can flush a toilet. I keep a few bottles of water on hand for the dogs just in case.
You reminded me of a friend of mine who lives in 29 Palms, CA, who house trains her dogs by peeing outside with them as pups. She's a bit crazy but I just love her to pieces. And damn if her dogs don't learn where to go within a week or so.
I say rebel! March the streets, gather all of guntown and descend on the mayor's office, ask for your rights, follow the Egyptian model!!!
All joking aside (not really a joke; this country could use a more "hands on" approach from the people - not that it would have the same effect...), I am sorry that you had to go without water or flushing toilets, the basic needs that any supposedly developed country can offer.
This post really makes me sad. That's no way to live and it's just not fair at all.
I don't think peeing with your dog is crazy at all.
