I love it when models talk

Gisele Bundchen said sun blocks are poison and that she won't put them on her skin. Now skin cancer experts and sun screen manufacturers are all over her ass. Gis is most famous for saying childbirth is painless and that we need a law that requires all mothers to breast feed for six months. Nice goin', Super Model. Maybe we should have a law that says Gisele has to think about everything for six months before she says it. Then again..she's so easy.

she has a lot of points. There is a lot of crap in 'blockers'. Also, while you won't get sun burn with blockers, you still get cancer. They block the wrong stuff/not enought. And even her breast feeding quib has lot of merit. It lowers breast cancer risks, the babies are healthier and there are less mental problems later - for both.

Maybe you should read up some stuff before talking badly about others.

Anonymous, maybe you and Giselle should do a little research into skin cancer which is a much larger problem than the crap in blockers.
As far as breast cancer risks, Pat didn't say one damn thing about breast cancer. The point is Giselle needs to shut the fuck up about telling people what to do. Kinda like you......

there are beaucoup chemicals in those blockers, so i agree with anon on that point....but there are more natural sun blockers and they DO have their benefits....so there is a fine line there....

most makeups, sunscreens, etc are filled with lots of toxic chemicals....

giselle has a habit though of speaking like she's an expert on like everything and she's not....and dlisted has more of her quotes and she's saying she goes out in the sun before 8am before it's so strong and that's just bullshit because how many swimsuit shoots has she done AFTER 8am???

she does need to shut the fuck up...she acts all sanctimonious....

I love it when people decide their personal opinion should be made into a law. lol.... let's all force women to breastfeed or then what? Fine them? Send them to lactation camps?

miss tia said...

lactation camps!!! that's funny!!!! giselle had no business saying that! that's a personal decision for women to make.....she needs to learn to keep her mouth fucking shut....she's not paid for speak....like her husband isn't paid to speak either....

Tonya, and sun blockers don't solve the cancer problem. They make it worse. People believe they are protected.
Newsflash: they are not.

And nice telling me what I should do. Irony, it stings. If you have the brain to figure it out, of course.

miss tia, yeah, the mom's decide. Based on the ads from Nestle&co they decide against breast feeding.
And then they are whining about all that psychological crap, while their kids are more prone to illness.
And then breast cancer strikes.

If women were really informed, they would be on the streets demanding that 'baby formulas' are banned.

miss tia said...

a lot of baby formulas have sugar and hfcs put in them---get the kiddies hooked early!!!!!!!! nestles is EVIL....

i do believe it's the mom's decision on whether to decide to breast feed or not....and some are not able too for physical reasons....

but chemicals in blockers are horrible and if you use years of sun block you are gonna be more prone to cancer....actually with all the stuff we use nowadays we're ALL more prone to cancer!

It's a medical fact that, for various reasons outside their control, not all mothers even lactate well enough to feed their children. So what then, do we go back to wetnursing?

Good luck with that.

Meanwhile, Bundsen may be correct about the chemical cocktail in sunscreens but they are better than nothing if clothing is not an option. She is also correct that we require some sunlight for health. But common sense should apply just like any other situation. The problem with Bundchen is that, as a celebrity, her words have weight with the star-struck and ignorant. For that reason alone she should choose them much more carefully.

I breast fed my babies, both of them. Supposedly, they wont get ear infections. I was always taking them to the dr for...er infections. I was thinking, "I wonder when the good stuff for their ears kicks in? Cuz it hasn't been working!". I recommend it, if only for the lack of expense and at night, its awesome, just throw open the nightgown and "dinner is served". That part is great. I am supposed to not get breats cancer because I did that, ok, we'll see. If it works anything like the ear stuff, I am screwed! But its a good thing to do, its a mommy thing and I loved it.
Sunscreen? I always used baby oil & iodine. Does that count?
I do own sunscreen but I just wear a hat & go. I am out side getting in the dirt, thats pretty good sunscreen if you ask me! Good old black dirt! & a shirt. Zinc oxide is what all the kewl lifeguards used on their noses and face, back in the day. Same thing you use as a baby diaper rash retardant. So, this comment is a 2-fer!!! Think about K.I.S.S. is right! So true.

Her face is not her gift. Its those giraffe legs of hers. Her face is pretty average. She can be very funny tho. I always liked her but since I cannot stand Tom Brady, I dont care for her anymore.

The 6:40 anon said it best, people listen to celebrity opinions because of the star factor, regardless of the prevailing IQ behind them. Nothing pisses me off more than some B-list actress telling me who to vote for or how to raise my child or how to get to heaven. These same people can't manage their day to day lives without an entourage of managers. The irony is mind boggling.

I'm confused So there is no need to wear the cancer causing sunscreen and enjoy the cancer causing sun?! How about a little of both. I don't think any of that is going to kill me before the cancer causing cigarettes, water, red meat, liquor and driving my car in bad weather and traffic will.

Not to get all English school on you but that is NOT the definition of irony. Are you Alanis Morisette, by any chance?

Irony, accusing others of being ironic while not understanding the definition of irony? Nope, that's not ironic either.

miss tia said...

tonya if i knew any alais morissette lyrics or songs i'd phone you and sing 'em to you! :)

A-Gran said...

Tia, I'd actually like that....

The reference I was making is to a song she sang called, Isn't it ironic? She listed a whole bunch of 'ironic' things that aren't in the least bit ironic. The funny thing is that by naming a song Isn't it Ironic? and then continuing through a list of nonironic items she actually IS being ironic!

miss tia said...

so she was being moronic?

not gonna learn about her music....i have lately been on a prince, sex pistols and al green kick....i could call you and sign you pretty vacant or god save the queen???

A-Gran said...

I would never recommend that anyone learn about Alannis's music. I like her OK and 'Jagged Little Pill' got a good friend of mine through a nasty breakup but she ain't on the top of my ipod (I totally don't have an ipod).

You can call me and play the Sex Pistols but I get to play some Memphis Minnie for you when you're done.

A-Gran said...

Oh, and I was mistaken when I said that it's not ironic to accuse someone of being ironic while not understanding the definition of irony. That IS ironic. Irony is tough.

miss tia said...

memphis minnie?!?!?!? what if i played some guns 'n roses instead? what would you counter that with?????

i just had to d/l appetite for destruction--didn't have the whole album...so i've been listening to that too....

I know, I'm weird. I really like blues from the 20s and 30s lately. The older I get the further back my interests go.

miss tia said...

20s/30s was like the birth of blues times right??

well you don't hear your phone ringing!

I really don't think I need some million dollar big nose model to tell me how to raise my son. I'm able to screw him up all on my own.

I did breast feed but not because someone told me too, but because I like the closeness to my son.

And she needs to get those "milk bottles" hiked back up. The sag in her boobs may cost her some model money.

You need 15 minutes of sun exposure 3 days a week to get adequate amounts of Vitamin D. In the winter when your body is covered and only your face is exposed that goes up to 45 minutes 3 days a week. However, once those 15 minutes are up you do need to put sunblock on if you are prone to burning. Also, your body stores excess amounts of Vitamin D in the summer for winter months so if you do not get outside for 45 minutes 3 days a week it's not something to worry about.
I think it is the mother's decision to breastfeed or not and how long to do so. Personally, I breastfed both of mine for the first 3 months and then switched to formula, but I do think a mother should choose formula carefully. I always used Enfamil infant formula and Enfagrow toddler formula. They are more expensive than other formulas but the nutrition of my children is worth 10 extra dollars. My oldest never nursed very well..I think a lot of it was just due to me being a new mom and not being comfortable with the nursing process in general. My second child nursed amazingly well, but I got sick with H1N1 and even though I tried to keep my milk supply up by continuing to nurse and pump it dropped significantly and I couldn't keep up with his demands. So, what are we suppose to do..fault a new mother because she is uncomfortable, fault a mother for getting sick, fault a mother who for whatever reason doesn't produce milk at all, fault a mother who doesn't produce enough milk to meet the demands of her baby in the first place? What about mothers who have to return to work after they have their baby and even though she may want to provide her child with breast milk her employer offers no place or alloted time for her to pump? I think it is ridiculous to suggest that all mothers should breastfeed for a certain amount of time..I do think mothers should be encouraged to give it a try though.
I agree with Miss Tia, Nestle is evil. I believe I heard that Nestle sent formula and infant cereals to babies in starving countries and that the babies died of malnutrition even while on the formula.

Anyway, that's my 2 cents :)
