open post

You may have to click that photo to read it, buy, I found it amusing. A misunderstanding at an elementary school. It's too cold today to take anything seriously. What are you up to?

Well, I am at work today! Hooray! Have you been able to get out to work Pat? I was stuck inside for a day & 1/2 and I was over it. Had I been alone, that would have been fine. But I wasn't.
I just "Liked" Jim Cantore on FB! Thats how bored I am today. He's the Weather Channel's *Rockstar*. He's pretty cool and LOVES his damn job. I like him alot and pay attn when he's giving the weather reports. Can you believe those pics of Lakeshore Drive downtown Chicago? OMG! It looked like a mountain road in Colorado! Cars buried up their roofs on a main road right downtown! Kinda crazy. It made me think, those ppl must have been in their cars trying to get home when all that snow just dumped on them, burying them. They had to be rescued, some after 12 hrs!!! That road looked ok earlier that day. So that was fast. In Indiana we got hit hard too but not with vast amts of snow down here wher I am. I am 2 1/2 hrs south of Chicago. Just kind of fascinating to me, this weather, this winter. Its been a bad one. Makes me think summer will be severe as well. I just hope spring doesnt bring tornadoes with it! Hope you are toasty today!

& this is stupid: Y'day my husband (who is a VERY large person) came in and told me he broke out a window on our back porch. Thats where I do laundry and get to the basement from the kitchen. I was like "Great!!! Its like 5 outside and now we have a 4 x 4 hole in our house! You idiot"! He says he "leaned" on it. WTH? Leaned on a big window, who does that? And esp a huge person! Plus it was already stressed with the cold & ice. Dumbass. So, now we have plastic on that hole and I am super pissed! Of f'g course it had to happen during the worst weather we have ever had! Some people have zero brains, I am not kidding. Leaning on a window? Are ya kidding me? Dayum... :(

yep, pipes will freeze now and our heat bill...I dont wanna even think about it. Hes the stupidest person ever. & then he tries to flip it and tells me off about it! I didnt do it, stupid!!! But somehow, its always someone elses fault! Ya know? I am just mad because I can't afford what it will do to my gas bill. It upsets me and causes me stress and worry. I had to vent to somebody. he will have to fix it asap! & he knows it! This weekend it will be about 34 or 35, he will do it then.

Man, that sucks. I'd put some cardboard over it to, or plywood on the outside. Around here we call that "remodlin'..LOL.

not doing much today...gotta get back to studying for the gre....

that guy who decided to keep lake shore drive open should have his ass kicked from one end of chicago to the next!!! he claimed he was the one who decided to keep it open so people had a way to get home and wouldn't clog the side streets! so instead 900 to 1500 (counts vary) cars were stranded there for HOURS....how fucked up is that????

and that whole time, where were the plows that could have plowed out the exit ramps? there's videos on youtube showing good samaritans helping shovel and push cars off the exit ramps, but no one from the city!

unbelievable....

we hardly got any snow at all here....had some ice on the trees and wires, then it melted overnight the other night but we still have ice on the roads...the city put cinders down on my street today but that does not give any traction at all, it just creates a fucking MESS.....

sorry about your window rox....wtf was he doing?!?!?!?

Tia, girl...he was "leaning"...don't ask me why. Who the he** leans on a window??? I dont! I have went thru a window on a screen door before when I was a kid, they do break! Hello!!! I don't know and thank gawd I wasnt back there when it happened, or he would def say it was MY fault! Because to him, everythings my fault. He has to fix it, thats all. Just stupid, stupid. STUPID!!! I cannot stress that enough! LOL! Dayum...

I spent another hour today digging out the Jeep. The battery is dead (hubs will swap it out this weekend) so I cannot warm it up to speed the thawing. A city plow guy shoved a mountain of snow up against the back of the Jeep during the blizzard. It has been 3 days now that we have been slowly chipping away at the ice covered snow.
Blech!
I hate it. I want Spring. I want flowers. I want to start the cold weather veggies. Radishes! Bibb Lettuce!
I will just keep dreaming.
More snow for us on Saturday...
*sigh*

LOL

DD-Naw, we did it all ghett-o style. Platsic and staples, he did frame it with wood around it on the outside. Would have been easier to just fix it and replace it but its too cold. He has to wait till the weekend. STOOOOPID!!!

Dollar General has Margaret Holmes canned veggies. I love them. Seasoned butter beans, hopn john, turnip greens, seasoned cabbage is my favorite. Now I'm hungry.....Gotta go get the taxes done tonight. Got my fingers crossed that we'll get enough back to get caught up from Christmas.

My daughter goes to school in the Chicago 'burbs and she said people were stampeding Union Station fighting to get on trains out of the city. I guess the warnings three days prior weren't enough :/

miss tia said...

Angie---you know people become immune to the warnings because how many times do we get those warnings that are for naught? ya know?? how often are the weather people wrong? it happens all the time, you end up just tuning the warnings out.....

but once it starts and you realize it's 'real' you need to STAY HOME because if at most you'll be in the house for 2-3 days and you will survive!!

None of my girls went to work yesterday. Which means no one even opened up the salon. I was supposed to be there at 12:30pm. I went out to my car around noon and had to dig it out with my laundry basket lid. Then I get to work (ON TIME) and NO ONE shows up. I have to work from 12:30 - 9pm by myself. Oh well, at least I got all the dogs (money) to myself.

I love reading these comments even when stupidity is involved.

I have been snowed in since Tuesday, with a house full of husband and boys. I am now an expert on Raiders of the Lost Arc and Star Wars the Clone Wars.
Today I get out into the rest of the world after scooping snow for a half and hour. I find that the Lake of the Ozarks is ill-equipped to move 20 inches of snow out of the way. Roads are still terrible of course no school tomorrow.
There have been some crazy antics out on the lake, when the snow gets heavy on the boat docks crazy agile people probably mostly men. Get on these roofs and push the snow off. 20 and 30 feet in the air over the freezing cold water. holy cow. If they didn't go to these crazy heroics the docks would sink along with boats tied to them. Some docks were not lucky enough to have these heroes and docks collapsed and boats sank. I guess maybe that goes along with a lane and a half of highway I had to drive on on the way to work.
Crazy. city offices closed for two days, most businesses closed,no mail, no school. Paralyzing storm.

Wonder what happen while I was at work because my 6 year old wants to know who made leaches, he is not sharing his blood. Fun!

I am off to get coffee and buy the weeks groceries. It is going to be more of a slushy rain event for us tomorrow..but there is snow forecasted for Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday! Joy!
The cat dropped the food processor off the kitchen counter. Good thing our refund came in this week. The microwave is shitty the bed too. Is it just me or does it seem that things break down in groups?
