HERE's an interesting article about a family who claims their house is haunted. They have some activity and they say they have video proof. The problem is, that vid may be proof for them personally, but, it's not proof to anyone else because the chair and door that moves by itself is not framed entirely in the film. I tend to believe it, because that stuff goes on around me a lot and because that daughter is just the right age for her energy to attract a poltergeist. People really need to be careful when using religious paraphernalia to fight a ghost. Common sense should tell you that only works in certain kinds of hauntings. Most likely, they've pissed something off with all that hoodoo. Anyway, the film is interesting..if not actual proof.

Hard to say on this one because you can't see the base of the chair. Could be a hoax. If I were a ghost I would try to clean that mess up though.
I want to go on record here by saying that I am a believer in spirits and energy and all that stuff. But what I don't get (maybe someone here can explain it) is why or how wearing a cross will do anything? Are "spooks" afraid of cheap metal trinkets? When you use religious items to warn off spirits how do you know what religion to use?
Thanks

I love this anon.
any moron with a camera could do the same thing. They need to come up with something better than that.
Maybe the reason the items "work" is because the person using them actually believe in their power?
Hey DD,
any thoughts on this : http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/41959553/ns/business-us_business/
I can't believe how easily they could get away with this nonsense.
Angie...that's actually a viable concept. I suppose it's a two way street as well. I would guess that in order to feel the spirits you would also need to believe or at least be receptive to it.
Thanks for the perspective. It's sort of a boring day at work today and at least this is helping to keep me from nodding off.
1:31:00 PM, I think I can answer that. In my experience, if a person was religious in life, they still are after death and sometimes can find comfort by religious items. Or they can be reminded to be nicer because their god would want that. In other words, people who believe can still be manipulated in death by religious icons. BUT, if the spirit is someone like me, it can piss them right off and wreak havov and rage. As in, get that shit out of MY house! You have to know how to play it.
And, BTW, some spirits find it hilarious that you think it would affect them.
Angie, good comment. But, I think sometimes you have to find out what the spirt believed in for anything to work.
I like your last comment, because I feel the same way. Just because these spirits don't occupy a human form, does not automatically render them ignorant. I've seen some of these TV shows that "hunt ghosts" and I'm tickled to death listening them try to talk to the spirits, to convince them to show themselves. In my mind, I see these spirits looking at each other saying "WTF is wrong with this douchebag?"
Thanks for the additional perspective DD...makes a lot of sense that things you learned or held on to in this existence would carry thorugh to others. Like you I would be one pissed off ghost.
XOXO
I like when they talk to the spirits with respect and reassure them they aren't there to hurt them. Oh, and explain new fangled equipment to them..makes sense. I hate, hate, HATE it when they use that "provoking" technique. That is so wrong.
As much as I believe this happens more often than we think, the video setup seems just a little too convenient and I am not buying this particular story.
I'm not sure, but, the movement in the vid is very gentle. Not pissed off or violent which is more what they claimed. Still, I'd never call them liars with what goes on in my house.
I'm pissed off now and I'm not even a spirit. Hate to see what I will be like when I'm dead!
