Where's my money??

Desperate for a smoke, and knowing I shouldn't write a check the other day, I spied the answer. Lissa's piggy bank. Hey, I knew there would be money in my account after work, but, I didn't want to take a chance with a check and get those damn charges. And the kid wasn't here. It was heavy with those damn pennies she loves, but, there were a bunch of ones. 9 of them to be exact. I took the ones and with my change got two packs of smokes. The next day I remembered and shoved a 10 dollar bill back in her pig. Interest.
*

I forgot that 6 year olds don't understand larger bills. She was so pissed off that she'd had nine bills in there and now only had one. I had to fess up and explain. It got so heated I finally had to go get 10 ones and trade her even after she understood the demoninations. She did not give a fart, 10 is better than one. Satisfied, she took her ones and then demanded to know what I bought. I said, umm, uhh, it was, umm...

*

She crossed her arms, narrowed her eyes and said, "I KNOW what you bought." Crap. I got irritated and said, "Well, I told you never to smoke, it takes up all your money! See? I was right." It was a real teaching moment. Cough.

I am so mad at the price, I may figure out how to grow my own. It's all tax too.

well hell look at all the additives in cigarettes...if you smoked pure tobacco you probably wouldn't recognize the taste! what about rolling your own? isn't that cheaper?

My parents pay 25.oo a carton at the junction around here. They are cheep mock off smokes. They use to have this place to roll your own. The lowest for 200 cigs was 20.0 bucks. But the place closed. Odd down the road is Zippo were you can pick up the internal light.

OMG, I pay $60 bucks a carton. It makes me so fucking mad.

And what? No troll telling me smoking is bad? You're slippin.

The cheapest I can find them around here is $38.00 a carton. Most places are $45.00. It's ridiculous. Tax alcohol some!!

HAHAHA Tia I cannot believe you got a card with 1.61 in it!

I have friends who are always asking anybody that travels to South America to bring them smokes. 6 years ago before moving here the carton was about 9.99 for Marlboros (national or imported from another South American country), 10.99 for Camels (imported from the US, imagine that!). I don't think prices have changed much. A single was a dime on the stands outside campus, and as far as I know it still is.

Been there done that. Kids want all their dollars..
I did finally quit smoking last summer but I still want one every single day. When I first started smoking you could buy a carton for less than $3.00. Last summer they were over $50 and I finally said to hell with it.

I have a feeling it's gonna take years & years for the cravings to go away.

I remember years ago (1973 or so) I had a US dollar left over from a family trip to Florida. Back home a short while after I heard on the news that the US dollar was now worth 99 cents Canadian. I was so disappointed I threw my worthless dollar in the garbage. My mom saw me and said if I didn't want it she would take it. Wait....if she wanted it still...I decided to keep it.

Kids have no idea about money and they don't have money woes...there must be a connection.

In Canada we have $1 and $2 coins. Kids love those because they're HEAVY. So they must be worth a lot. For sure a pocket full of change can turn out to amount to a small fortune.

Smoking is my only vice. It keeps me from killing my co-workers. If I didn't smoke, I know I'd never take a break and would end up like "Milton" from Office Space.

However, I'm also cheap. I found the brand "Decade" that runs about $20 a carton here. Smoked a few packs and I don't even remember what a Malboro tastes like. A buddy smokes "Wildhorse". Says they do taste just like a Marlboro, but almost half the price.
