Bottle trees are cool. I don't have any cool bottles though and if they aren't in the right setting, they look trashy. I like that rustic weird fence too. I've made things like that but, in Iowa, they're pretty much a one season deal. Winter's are harsh here. Anyway, what are you up to? I have to go to work so I can make some cash to buy tomato plants and...whatever else strikes my fancy. I got a lot done yesterday and I wish it was another day off. I planted a huge bed of Marigolds and Four O Clocks and this morning the neighbors dumb hound dug them all up. Nice. I have more seeds, it's just annoying. Is is possible for a dog to be retarded? I think maybe he's special ed. Or Mister Ed, from the size of his piles.

if you have chicken wire, place chicken wire on top of the seeds you plant, that should prevent the dog from digging them up and the seeds can grow through the wire....
haven't been doing wii fit plus and i need to get back to do that and i need to get back to doing what i need to do to get into grad school but i've been dealing with issues caused by former friends....but i am no longer letting them control my life....fuck them.....i am viewing my birthday as my 'new year's day'....as astrologically it is the beginning of the year....
too early here to plant any seeds as i know we'll get another snow and frost.....
all excited cuz Car 54 got released on dvd!!! i ordered it as amazon.com had it half price and i'll have tomorrow! LOVE that show! :)
Tia, that idea is great, but, the area is too big. It would take two full rolls of wire. I have tons of seeds I saved. The first ones will now come up in the lawn. I hate that dog.

that sucks the area is too big! and i guess it's asking too much for them to keep their dog in their yard huh??
maybe toss some moth balls around the area to see if the smell keeps the dog away??

I spent my lunch hour at the local nursery trying to draw up a plan for the front of my house. I ended up with a totally different list of plants than what I had in my head when I went. I hope it turns out. It will take me at least three years to fully finish it, holy crap the money.

I knew a lab once that was "special needs" shall we say:o) It was oddly shaped, had crossed eyes, drank other dogs' pee while they were peeing, humped absolutely EVERYTHING and even barked stupidly, if you can imagine that. Every time it drank water it drank so fast and sloppily it spilled half of it and then vomited. EVERY TIME.
But what I really wanted to tell you is about the nettles...years ago I moved into a rental house where the previous tenent had planted nettles on purpose in the back yard. They ate them and brewed them in tea. Apparently nettles are supposed to help with allergies? But anyway, after I dug them all up I planted a seed someone gave me called Nicotiana Sylvestris and it grew like a weed. I fell in love with it and have planted it every year since and it has never grown as well as it did in that nettle bed. It is a flowering tobacco, 4 ft. tall, white flowers, and smells like heaven. And the bottom leaves are humungous so it chokes out any nettle trying to re-emerge.
Still way to early to plant here. Going out Friday to buy a thingy that releases a high pitched frequency when dogs bark. We can't go out in our back yard without the neighbours two dachshunds yapping the whole time. Unless they bring the dogs into the house, they never stop, and fortunately the neighbours are home sometimes and do bring them in for us. So, installing the thing on our side and hope it works or the summer will be hell. We'd kinda like to spend some time out there without being harassed.
I am doing my taxes. Did you know that the filing date is on the 18th because on state is celebrating Emancipation day on the 16th, since that is a Saturday then the holiday is Friday the 15th so filing is on Monday the 18th. Several states celebrate Emancipation Day none on the same day of the year. Have you heard of anything so crazy. I appreciated the extra days. Emancipation is a perfectly great thing to celebrate but I think we should all do it together. or should we? Just a little semi-useless info to pack in the old brain.
Frimmy we used to have the same problem with a neighbor dog. We eventually just started throwing rawhides and chew bones over the fence and that would keep him quiet for an hour or so.
I think the neighbors started wondering why he was getting so fat. hahahaa.

I havent checked in in months and wanted to say hey everybody! My job took over my whole damn life. Now I just had knee surgery for a torn meniscus so I'll be out for 6-8 weeks. My girls are happy that I'm home for a while. They were not dealing with mom working very well. I was always working nights and weekends and we missed each other terrible. Their grades have fallen and we are all feeling depressed. Did I mention my husband left last week. Yeah... I think after this disability leave I need a different daytime job. We need each other more than ever now.
