last year on vintage ads we had a sexist ads contest and it was just depressing....this one showed up of course...then the one where the man is spanking his wife i think over coffee...then the one where the wife is on her knees serving breakfast in bed with him in a shirt & tie (it's a tie ad).....so many sexist ads...it was depressing after the first day......

I don't hate all men, but, there is a certain type of man I despise and I will never take shit from any of them again. Man, that resonated with me. Those are powerful words. I've had that happen too. Cross out the stupid blond jokes and fill in the creepy, "Are you a TRUE redhead???" questions. Always with a leer following it. You could just see them trying to envision my pubic hair. Always older men. Sick fucks. My first day at work when I was 14 (and had only been 14 for one month) an old guy cornered me as I threw up into a trash can. Backed me into a corner and kept asking me if I was pregnant. Did I let some boy touch me like this? I wiggled his hands away and was so ashamed. I did tell and they fucking moved ME! He kept his fucking job and position... Shit like that used to happen all the time. People don't realize it but it did.
I remember reading an ad when I was a girl in a mag that my mother had, called, I think, "Coronet. It was of a woman in a peignoir, and the blurb read something like, "It's all very well to design rockets, but what I want to know is, why can't those darned scientists do something really important, like helping a girl keep her shape?"
Rich, white men aren't the only ones who screw prostitutes. Have you listened to the lyrics of hip hop music? Misogynistic barely touches it. Looking at most of the world, you wouldn't be any better off anywhere else, and you'd probably be much worse off.
Anyway, I don't share the universal condemnation of men. Yeah, a lot of them are pigs, but some of them are pretty great.
