The ugly

The Nettles have taken over the North side of my house. They are swamping the Arbivite and Ivy and everything else. I am allergic to them and they burn like fire. I despise them. I bought spray to kill them and now I have to go out and try to avoid the good plants with it. I just hate those goddamn Nettles, they make me so mad!

My cousin offered to plow my garden. I told him if he got time, that'd be great. So, I'll leave it up to him whether I have one or not. Can't really plant anything until May here. The damn weeds sure grow before then. One of natures jokes, I guess.

I went through this last year.. I dug up the most important plants and replanted them somewhere else for the year. Then I sprayed the holy hell out of that area and didn't plant anything.

I just yesterday replanted them yesterday. I'll let you know if it worked, but I don't see any nettles yet. I hate those things. They hurt for days and days and days.

ugliest thing i've seen today is the judgmental attitude of sally....do we have a weed killer for that???

aside from that (check the bristol palin post DD for the judgmental sallyisms) i'm trying to curtail doing a lot outside til the trees fully bud with my allergies.....

Oooh, those do hurt. I've only gotten into them once, but that was one time too many.

They are awful. I get blisters through my garden gloves and they last all night. I hate them!

Miss Tia, where is Sally's comment? I can't find it.

The comments are on the Bristol Palin post.

yep, bristol palin post....starting where sally says teen moms should either abort or give the babies away....

Okay, I read it and Sally comes off pretty hard core, but, hey, she's not trolling, just giving her opinion. I don't think teens should have kids either.

Teens should not be having children. But the truth is, they do.

And this does not automatically make these teenage mothers bad, immature parents, or a burden to society. Not all of them resort to welfare.

Of course, it is not an ideal situation and no one would wish that on their sisters, friends or their child. But it does happen. So what then? Do we just decide they should have an abortion? Hand over their child for adoption?

Yes, some of those children will not end up as happy as a family who can bring them up in a "white picket fence house" (and don't jump on me -- that is not my idea of an ideal family -- just a general visual), but does that mean that all will face dire futures?

Again, it's not ideal but I have witnessed many who have done a way better job than some of my non-teenage mothers have.

Sally, what is it that you do that makes you see first hand the effects of teenage mothers? I am curious and interested.

In an ideal world, we could all decide the course of our life and erase any mistakes before they "take hold". But, sometimes, those mistakes end up being the reason why we get our shit together and make the best of what we have.

Again, I am not talking about those who end up abused and neglected. There is a wide spectrum on the teenage mother line.

Nettles are only good for one thing. They are a signal to pot growers that it's an ideal spot to grow weed. Nancy Today eats the damn things..I cringe everytime she adds them to soup.
